Best stay

This hotel is new and the facilities are fantastic. I swam in their indoor pool with is highrise view of the city. It is located right at ShinDorim metro station and very convenient to get to any part of Seoul. Also, the mall has great fool court area and is located by the techno mart (E-mart) where I got my diet cokes. West of the Techno mart are local restaurants that are excellent and valued prices.

West of Techno Mart are local restaurants that vary in specialities...so when you are done with the food court at D-cube city mall...head there.

Perfect stay in Seoul

Just the check in is a fantastic experience, you can have a great views of Seoul from its 41st floor lobby. Rooms are quite large and spacious with all the amenities you need for a confortable stay. Restaurant Feast is located at the same floor of the lobby and offers contemporary cuisine with an interactive open kitchen. Pretty expensive.

Very convenient subway access; great food very close

D-Cube is located at the Sindorim stop on the Seoul Metro line, a junction of the Green and Dark Blue lines. The subway station is conveniently located in the basement of the hotel. Those two lines can get you within walking distance of just about anywhere you want to go downtown within a 20-30 min Metro ride. The location of the hotel along with the D-Cube shopping center is a real plus. Levels B-1 and B-2 of the shopping center are food courts which have a wide array of choices (American food like Taco Bell and McDonald's; Korean restaurants, tea-house style dining). Other levels of D-Cube have more upscale restaurants (Italian, TGI Fridays, etc.). Everything we ate there over the course of a week was of excellent quality and taste. Credit is accepted everywhere. The D-Cube does not open until 11am, so you can't do breakfast in there. There are plenty of shops on the other side of the street (accessible by underpass in the basement) which open early. There is a "Home Mart" (think: Korean Target) just across the street, so anything you forgot or need to pick up, just head over there. (e.g., We printed several pictures in the 1-hour photo section at Home Mart.) The D-Cube City also has a Pororo theme park (great for little kids) on the floor 4F. The hotel itself is very nice. The lobby is on the 41st floor, then you switch elevator banks and go *down* to your room from there. That took some getting used to, but it's neat to see the view from the lobby every day. The hotel is generally spotless. Staff are exceptional. Our room had two double beds ("two twins"), large flat TV, marble finished bathroom with steam sauna. Very nice room overall. Beds were comfortable, pillows were acceptable. Overall, the room was nice, but not out of the ordinary. Three nits to pick: 1) We asked for a non-smoking room, but it was clear that someone had smoked in the toilet area. I just reeked of cigarette smoke. I mentioned it to the concierge, and they came and did an extra bathroom cleaning and put an air purifier in our room. That helped, but the smell was already in the wallpaper. It was confined to the bathroom -- only in the toilet area. 2) Everything at the hotel is obscenely expensive. Like 65000 won (~$60) for the dinner buffet. ~$30 for breakfast buffet. Room service is outrageous (~$20 for a hamburger?). Fortunately, with D-Cube just downstairs, you never have to eat in the hotel. 3) The "internet lounge" is an area in the lobby, set aside with four terminals. The terminals are kiosk-type systems, integrated all into large-screen monitors. They would be very nice, except that they have very flaky Microsoft kiosk software loaded on them. The software does not allow the user to interface to other hardware or storage devices. So if you want to blog about your day of sightseeing, or post pictures to facebook from your camera's SD card, don't bother trying. If you do try to put your SD card in the slot, the software will lock up or go flaky, and require reboot. There are ways around for savvy users (e.g., reboot the system, but don't actually start up the kiosk shell software -- stay in the native Windows7 OS), but average users will be frustrated. If all you want to do is work your gmail or read the news, it's ok. Just make sure you know how to switch languages on the browser or your web application of choice -- it was often in Korean or German when we got there. We did not have a chance to use the pool, spa, or workout room, but walking through them, they looked quite nice. Overall pros: Location, proximity to food / shopping / amenities, Metro access, cleanliness / quality. Overall cons: Rather spendy (but typically priced for this quality of hotel). Great hotel, will stay there again when in Seoul.

Shopping tip: Short walk from hotel

Home Mart across the main road is your "everything" super store (groceries, Wal-Mart, etc.) -- don't pay too much for shopping in the D-Cube mall. Cross under the street by walkway and the escalator pops up right in front of the store.

Fantastic experience in Seoul

The hotel is new and is part of a mega mall. Transport is very convenient as the hotel is close to 2 metro lines. Also the transport to Incheon Airport is easy. I recommend the buffet restaurant at 42° floor.

Great venue near the subway to downtown

Staff were extremeley courteous and helpful, breakfast (included) was outstanding with variety of western and eastern fare. Fitness center better than average with staff to help explain some of the less usual equipment. Rooms were decent size and well appointed. Views were outstanding. Attached to shopping mall which provided a local diversion. Only downside was long taxi ride to major tourist destinations. Subway better choice.
