A fantastic hotel that lives up to its reputation as one of the best 4* hotels in Cape Town. Stylish and with homely touches, Spier has a main pool and sunbathing area for guests as well as small private pools between the accommodation buildings. There is also an excellent Spa that offers a wide range of treatments. The property is set in 13 acres of land with plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy including horse riding, an excellent childrens playground and activity centre, golf, as well as a cheetah and bird of prey sanctuary. AHJ 0208 Built in traditional Cape style the hotel is spread out over a wide area and resembles a small village. The rooms are split between 6 buildings, all of which are no longer than 2 storeys high and peach in colour. At the Spier restaurant guests can enjoy mouth-watering breakfasts and dinners prepared with only the freshest Cape produce. Views from the restaurant are of the estate and the surrounding Helderberg Mountains. The hotel also has a very contemporary and stylish wine Bar adjacent to the restaurant offering light, tasty and healthy meals, wines and coffees. Both the restaurant and wine bar have outdoor terraces where guests can sit in the sun or shade. The Jonkershuis is another excellent restaurant offering a la carte South African meals which can be enjoyed inside, out on the shaded terrace or in the gardens alongside the Eerste River. Moyo is one of South Africas most famous restaurant brands and offers an unforgettable evening under the southern stars, with its sumptuous buffet and vibrant live entertainment daily.

If you want to stay in a winery in Stellenbosh, Spier Hotel is the right place; there's everything you need, tasting amazing restaurant, rooms are big and really comfortable, and fireplace in cold winter evening is a plus!
Spier is a very nice place to stay, the food is generally excellent and not too expensive and the service is about as attentive as you get in South Africa (meaning not great but pretty good). There are some walking trails nearby, but if you stay
for any length of time you'll get bored with them, so you need a car to get anywhere off the estate (or else pay fairly exorbitant shuttle fees). Also, they gouge you for internet service. Note as well that the Cheetah outreach is no longer on the estate. It has moved about a half hour drive away to Somerset West (still worth a visit though).
