This is a stunning 4* lodge hotel with 2 outdoor swimming pools and beautiful landscaped gardens surrounding the lodge chalets. As well as relaxing at the hotel there are many activities to enjoy nearby including river rafting, fishing, hiking, golf and a newly opened elephant experience reserve. (AHJ 0508) The property consists of thatched chalets, some of which are on the river bank and others are situated in the sub tropical garden. There are also hotel rooms. The hotel is situated on the picturesque banks of the Sabie River and is on the fringe of the tiny town of Hazyview. The International airport is a 35 minute drive away. Only 12 kms from Phabeni Gate, the nearest entrance to Kruger National Park, and a short drive to the Panorama Route.

Dining

Restaurant
The a la carte restaurant serves international and local food and guests can sit within the thatched boma or out on a lovely terrace overlooking the Sabie River. The food here is first class and the wine menu extensive as the restaurant manager has a good wine cellar. Meals are also organised outdoors every other day and are accompanied with cultural dancing by local tribes. The bar is very cosy and inviting and popular with guests.

Terrible

ity guard was promising but the experience was terrible. 1. The rooms need renovation, the furniture is old and outdated. I think they use the "african wild" theme as an excuse to keep things old and outdated 2. The water from the taps is dirty and not fit for showering let alone human consumption as you will see from the attached pictures 3. The pool was unlike the impressive pictures you see on the website. it was dirty and green as you will see from the pictures 4. The TV is something from the 90s without remotes and they only show 4 channels when South Africa has access to about 100. 5.The service was horrendous, an example : I requested a remote for the TV two separate times and both times it was coming until we checked out. 6. The electric kettle with which we are supposed to make tea or coffee in the room is completely rusted forcing us to

Hippo Hollow

The location was very convenient for touring the Panorama Route. "God's Window" was clouded in when we went to visit, but we were able to get up in the morning and drive back to see the beautiful view due to Hazyview being a close distance. We rented a two story loft. The upstairs loft didn't appear to have been cleaned in a long time. There were no screens on the windows and no mosquito nets. Insects weren't biting, but they were buzzing about. The back deck looking over the river did make the hotel worth staying at. There were hippos and a large number of birds we were able to view.

We went to nearby grocery and liquor stores to buy supplies for dinner, so we could enjoy the view from our deck.
