Horrible, even with that price
As soon as the hotel doors slid open (if they worked) the smell hit me. It was only in the hotel. Where was it coming from? Putrid odour...kept me up at nights with urge to gag. It seemed to be coming from the bathroom. But it was in the hallways too. Sewer...? When we checked in, the towels (old, stained) were thrown on the rack, there was a blood stain on the toilet seat I had to call housekeeping to remove; the front desk staff seemed clueless and disorganized. The elevator is extremely slow and feels like you could be trapped in it at any moment. No fridge, the shower door didn't close so floor got wet, but no bath mat provided on the first night. Walls with large mould spots. No central air. Bathroom has no ventilation/air system, and if not for the freshly painted ceilngs, I'm sure we'd see some scary mould there too. No room safe. The sink was designed with a hole on top (why??) so when we used the (very elevated) tap, of course the floor got wet. Ugh. We've stayed at similarly-priced hotels that were much much cleaner. We left feeling itchy and unhealthy. They manage to stay open presumably because of their GREAT location.

Awesome location!!!
Location is very important in a vacation and you cannot go wrong staying in this hotel... City center in your door steps and 15 min walk to V&A waterfront with 400 shops and you can also book a day tour to Robben Island, boat ride and even a helicopter sightseeing Also not forgetting the affordable food shops around the hotel corner, from local food to middle eastern falafel.

great value
Very good value if you want to be downtown near museums, etc, but is not a good idea to be out at night after dark, and you must take a cab to go to a restaurant at night. The breakfast is great, staff friendly and helpful, room clean, but we were cold the whole time as the heater in the room was pretty lame.

Located right in the middle of
Located right in the middle of Cape Town Central Business District. Great breakfasts with eggs, veggies, bacon, smoked sausage and wors. Satelite TV in the cold weather was a great. My room was a bit small but I was travelling alone. Very comfortable bed as well as mid-size bathroom with spaceous bath. I would stay at Cape Diamonf Hotel and will not hesitate refering someone else.

Unbeatable location for the price
The hotel rooms are fine. The location is fantastic. The staff is courteous and helpful. They arranged two half day tours for us. We were three blocks from the Green Market and two blocks from St. George's mall which is the main walking thoroughfair. The only small problem is that their electrical outlets are out of date and somewhat finicky.

The location of the hotel is in
The location of the hotel is in the heart of the CBD which would reduce taxi fares if you don't like to walk. The staff are wonderfull. Unfortunately, no fridge in the room though I would daily grab a complimentary bucket of ice and enjoy a sundowner and the views from the roof top. I would definately book there for my next visit. I got the best rate through HotelClub.
