Great location

After a long flight we were met by the gen manager jannemann B an wished us a happy stay also called our room to see if it was to our satisfaction, which it was. Best about this hotel is its location. You have the local an tourist bus stops . good restaurants, local shopping not to forget the very long promenade. You can walk run or just sit an enjoy the atlantic views an inhale the nutrients of the seaweed.. There s no direct sea view rooms only at an angle. Plunge pool is small but effective to cool down if sunbathing. Staff are very obliging friendly and pleasant. wifi is free and complimentary water in foyer. Its for total revamping this July so I am sure it will be upgraded.

Parking

They won't let me park ONE car . My friend who was driving a car for me had to go around and look for parking when the basement parking was empty.

Nightmare!

I just hated every minuute of it from start to finish. After being on a 15 hour flight from London to Cape Town, I got to the hotel and had to wait a very long time for my room. The staff didn't even have the descency to explain to me what was happening, I was tired and disorientated. 40 mins later I finally got given a room, then, as I was getting changed someone knocked on my door, before I had an opportunity to say yes or no they opened the door! The person in question then said ' I am sorry, I didn't know you were naked'! Hello! Shouldn't she have waited for me to invite her in? Some of the staff had no customer skills whatsoever, very shocking indeed, even for a 3 star hotel, it was just such a horrible experience. Online it said they had a gym, none of the equipment actually worked. I couldn't believe what they passed off as an English breakfast, I am English and I can tell you that an English breakfast does not taste anything like that. There was a security guard who was extremely helpful, he tried his best to make me feel welcome. I paid for my holiday in full before I left the UK, as I went to check out a member of staff tried to say I owed some money!! I just couldn't wait to leave, and no I will never use a Protea Hotel again. What a living nightmare and a con.

Great location. Good value for money.

Clean, spacious rooms and in a great location. Good value for money. Great views from the pool, which is on the small side. We didn't spend much time in the hotel, so this was a great base for our holiday.
