Good central hotel

Would recommend Mon, Jan 11, 2016
Very central and near the railway station and most other things tourists want. 15 minutes walk to V&A waterfront. Not much open nearby at weekends and in evening. Good breakfast in mall next door at deli. Great staff, all very helpful. Good value for money.

Great budget option

Would recommend Tue, Jul 31, 2012
A professional and courteous welcome, prompt response to any questions, great location, rooms a good size and everything worked. Was able to rest comfortably in the lobby at the end of my stay waiting for pick up. Breakfast was spectacular especially given that it was included in the price

Far better than expected!!!

Would recommend Fri, Jul 20, 2012
Wonderful location, the staff is extremely kind and helpful, cleanling is obsessive, the restaurant is excellent, and the buffet breakfast offered leaves you full and happy: fruits, lots of luscious hot meals, multitude of different breads, variety of cheeses and cold meats, etc., all in a nice environment, reminiscent parisian art nouveau. At first sight, I think the cheap daily rate was wrong, but not! Note however that accomodation offered is basic (no such thinks like gym, etc.) but the rooms are big, mine had also an amazing view to Table Mountain, internet is free, and all that you can need is provided. The building in itself is prominent in CT bowl, and the hotel has been redecorated some 10/15 years ago, so it shows some signs of wear. But this is nothing compared to the service offered. At least in my humble opinion, I will definitely return there in my next visit to CT.

Attractions

Location is wonderful, near main attractions and means of transport (last stop of bus to airport is only 3/4 blocks; train station is facing the hotel; museums, shop district, lovely boo-kap quarter are only a short walk, and as the hotel is on busy and iluminated streets, there are no safety problems. Food is available at any hour in the environments, from pizza to excellent indian cuisine, at most three or four blocks, even in late evening and in sundays.

great spot for a cape town vacation

Would recommend Mon, Jun 4, 2012
The staff was immediately fantastic and helpful. The hotel itself and the hotel rooms are modest, but clean and in good shape. However, the location is great... walking distance to everything you need in downtown Cape Town, the convention centre, and the waterfront.

Nearly impossible to fine; we had to hire a taxi and follow him. The party noise lasted until 2:00 a.m.

Best bang for your buck!!

Would recommend Sat, Jul 25, 2009
This hotel is in the middle of everything. Caution in walking during the nights alone(as in any large inner city). Most sites are about a $ 5 - $10 cab ride (if needed). It is near all the tourist attraction of Cape Town. The room comes with a more-than-you-can-eat breakfast buffet. Excellent, eager-to-help concierge, complimentary power converters, nice sized fridge and spectacular views of the city and Table Mountain. Great for conferences, or vacations. For the price of a comparable hotel, St Georges is excellent. Would definitely come back.

Shopping hint

There are lots of nearby 'markets' to suit anyone's taste. The Victoria and Alfred waterfront markets and malls are 5 mintue taxi ride (or 15 minute walk). The Pan African markets are a 5 minute walk.

My review of St Georges

Would recommend Fri, Dec 5, 2008
The room was large and comfortable and our room overlooked Table Mountain. All the staff, the front desk, the housekeepers, everybody was friendly. I was actually sorry to leave. They were helpful and it was just a wonderful experience. Will stay there again when I do visit Capetown again.

Attractions

A short walk to the Waterfront where a lot of restaurants, shopping and other activities are.

Great Experience

Would recommend Thu, Jun 19, 2008
Don't rely on the business center, there are only two computers that requre the purchase of an expensive internet card. The internet is slow and closes unexpectantly. Better to go across the street and use the internet services at the photoshop at a fraction of the cost and it has fast internet connections. The hot breakfast buffet is substantial and great! The staff was friendly and helpful.

Shopping hint

Enjoy shopping at the open markets and on Long Street.
