Perfect for the family
Up to my stay here, my best hotel experience was the Kempinski in Munich. The Cape Royale trumped that. The staff truly understand the meaning of service.

Perfect Place to Enjoy Cape Town
This is a very high end hotel located near downtown. The rooms are really suites, with a separate bedroom and a living room which has a small but complete kitchen and dining area at one end. The hotel has a fine restaurant, along with a small lobby bar, and a newly-renovated roof-top bar adjacent to a small pool and sunbathing area. The staff is especially attentive and you will enjoy chatting with them; they are skilled at personal service. One feature is that it has a shuttle which leaves once an hour and which will take you anywhere within 5 kilometers; I found this to be particularly helpful.y

Shopping tip:
Long walk from hotel
It only takes 15 minutes or so to walk downtown, and if you leave the hotel and go right (toward downtown) in six or seven blocks you come to a small supermarket called Spar which has a fab selection of food and drink of all kinds and you can amply stock your suite's kitchen from here. (PS Their lemon cake is to die for; one piece feeds two.) Note that the hotel is on "Main Rd." but this turns into "Somerset" as you walk downtown, and in downtown changes to "Riebeek St."

Luxury in Cape Town
Everything was perfect from the moment I arrived. The staff was attentive and friendly. The two bedroom suite was spacious yet comfortable. The view from my living room window overlooking the World Cup stadium and the ocean was unforgettable. The food was scrumptious. First rate hotel--I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

First class waterfront in Cape Town
I made a same-day booking online for Cape Royale and knew nothing about the place. I wound up staying two nights in a deluxe suite, which is essentially a one-bedroom apartment. The staff was very attentive. The hardwood floors in the room and non-smoking policy were appreciated. The furnishings were top-notch modern, and the kitchen was unbelievably well-equipped. Waterfront location on Main Road in Greenpoint made for easy walk to Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. Hotel offers complimentary car service within 5 km, too. The included breakfast option was a disappointment - there are plenty of better and less expensive options nearby to justify skipping it. Also, the hallway noise was intrusive a few times late at night. There was no bathtub, which would have made it perfect. Weirdly, there was also no deadbolt or latch on the door, to keep hotel staff with a key from entering while occupied. While housekeeping respected the Do Not Disturb hanger, this fact did unnerve me a bit, as a woman traveling solo. I go to Cape Town as often as possible. I will return to the Cape Royale!

Money-saving tip:
In Hotel
If you are planning a longer stay in Cape Town, the deluxe suite at the Cape Royale offers a real money-saver. With a beautifully equipped full kitchen (including a dishwasher and clothes washer) many extra costs of the long-term traveler can be eliminated, thereby offsetting the five-star pricing!
