Boutique hotel in Dutch St. Maarten

Princess Heights Hotel is located in an exclusive residential neighborhood perched on a hillside overlooking Dawn Beach. This family operated boutique hotel is so popular that, in 2008, it added 36 more suites, bringing the total number of rooms to 51. The best part is that each of the suites comes fully equipped with a kitchen, and romantics will like the whirlpool tubs. The hotel is just a short walk to Dawn Beach, a casino, and restaurants.

Highlights
  • Spacious accommodations with stellar views of the sea
  • Full kitchens and whirlpool tubs
  • Mini-bars stocked with free drinks
Rooms

Princess Heights offers spacious studio, one-, and two-bedroom upscale apartments, all featuring a balcony with ocean views. All of the units also feature marble floors, Italian terracotta tiles on the balconies, central air conditioning, a large kitchen, comfortable linens, a hair dryer, and a safe.

Features

Surrounded by million-dollar villas, Princess Heights is located across the street from the Westin Dawn Beach Resort & Spa. Dawn Beach is famous for its reefs and snorkeling. Hit the beach or go swimming at the hotel's pool. The tour desk will set up any activity that guests desire, from a sunset sail to playing golf on Anguilla to jet skiing, parasailing, surfing, or taking a banana boat ride on Orient Bay.

The capital of Philipsburg (Dutch side), the exquisite Orient Beach, and the restaurants of Grande Case are all a 15-minutes drive from Princess Heights.

Princess Heights offers babysitting, an area to barbecue, fitness facilities, and Internet access. Guests who tire of cooking in their apartment can enjoy fresh local lobster on the beach at Mr. Busby's. This is a casual but not very well-known beach restaurant. More restaurant choices can be found in the Westin.

Great place overall

Our room was very clean and spacious. It had a large bathroom, kitchenette, etc. We had a balcony that overlooked Dawn Beach. If you want to go to this beach, it's a short walk down the hill, but if you have a rental car, there are better ones (Mullet Bay, Orient, etc.). Some good restaurants and a market nearby as well. Staff were attentive to our needs. Pool is nice and is open 24 hours. You can also walk to the Westin and go to the casino, restaurants, etc. that are there. Only negative I can think of is that this area is a little out of the way of the touristy stuff, but if you have a rental car, it's not a big deal at all. Great stay and value overall.

The perfect romantic holiday

Princess Heights is a high end three star resort, pefect for a romnantic getaway or a family holiday. The one bedroom suite was a perfect size with a great ocean view balcony looking out on Dawn beach and the island of St Barts. Enjoyed Daniel by the Sea restaurant situated directly on Dawn beach amazing food, great pizza, and an excellent happy hour. The hotel pool is a great way to end the day after being at the beach or exploring the island. Orient Beach is only 12 minutes away, Pinel island is about 25 and Grand Case about 30 minutes. Definetly recommend getting a rent a car, watch the planes come in at maho beach at he sunset bar, make sure to get the Klm flight schedule the 747 landing and take off are amazing. Spend a day at simpson bay at Karacters a perfect location and great food. Mullet bay is not to be missed probably the best kept secret on the island, if you like ribs chicken and seafood for a low price, go to the skys the limit in grand case, it does look like much but the food is local, the taste is great and the prices are the cheapest on the island.

Good Hotel Business with Wonderful Hospitality

It has great amanities including a microwave, hairdryer, wine glasses, utensil, detergent, etc, thus, I was able to relax at a clean and comfortable room without going out every meal. Also, staffs' hospitality was great. How they worked and treated us was not business oriented. I think the reason why they can provide such nice facilities and staffs are because they minimize the unnecessary #too much# luxury #like splendid, but untasty and often costly restaurants within the hotel facility# and focus on what customers really appreciate while staying there. I felt hotel owner and managers are doign great job as a hotel business. Since it is far away from both airports and downtowns #Philisburge, Margot, Maho beach, etc#, it might be too silent and boring for people who are looking for night fun. But overall this Island itself is not party place, thus if you are looking for party and night life, you may want to change your destination. Anyway, as stayed at Princess Heights, I definitely recommend all of my friends to stay there!

Money-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

Between cities in St Martin, there are many local buses running on main street. If you get taxi, it is about $10 to $30. But if you get a bus, it is only $2. Even better, there is no specific bus stops. You can pop on and off anywhere you want as long as on the route. If you do not rent a car, this would be a great deal.

25th Anniversary trip!

Beautiful hotel and views out of this world, staff great. It is a trek to the beach, not a short walk as described. Going down not bad but walking back up was tough. Then you had to walk up 3 flights to the elevator! Once we figured out we could park at the Westin we drove down and that was much better.

Just drive down and park at the Westin instead of walking down and having that uphill trek back and all those stairs to climb!

Amazing trip, amazing hotel

We chose mainly to stay away from the crowds in the tourist areas. It was a perfect getaway for those choosing a calm, isolated and extremely clean place. The only draw back was the office which was a little out of the way from the rooms and the lack of hotel all the way down to the pool, office, or open parking area.

Luxury with postcard view

Staff are incredible, timely, helpful, organized. location and quality better than expected. Upgraded without asking to one bedroom luxury suite with terrace and high view over ocean to St Bart's in distance. Nice galley kitchen, granite s/s. 2flat screen TV, great free internet. Lots of good towels, even beach towels. Bed was ok but sweaky. Elevator building 5th floor of 6 floors. About 30 guests in building but very quiet. Nice large pool but inconvient. Long walk or drive car to reach. You must have a car to stay here (true anywhere on island)...but wait to rent here, not at airport which is expensive due fees. Cabs are very reasonable from airport and to or from cruise dock. Oyster bay beach below is fantastic, access at Busbys restaurant or Dawn Beach Club, park free if you go early...no one seems to care. great food at everyplace we went. BIG fish $$$, Busbys $ ($$Daniels at night), get pastries early AM at small market there. drive over to far side of Oyster Bay to French market fo wine etc. several pizza places around. Westin resort (dawn beach club and casino) is very large...you can use restaurants and beach bar but not pool (probably could if you walked in from beach)...avoid the timeshare sales trap inside ($12,500 per interval week off season). if you want water sports go to Oriental Beach, visit the Butterfly Farm...really beautiful and interesting. Gran Case is great for street fair Tuesday night 7 PM And dinner any night, foodis great everywhere but expensive...30 minute drive. Roads are terrible and crowded everywhere on island, but the beachs/water snorkeling are best. Peoplearewonderful but keep your valuables locked up.

Great Place to Stay for Family or Couples

From the moment we arrived the staff was very attentive and responsive to all our needs. The location is perfect since you are close to many great beaches and restaurants. The cleaning staff was top notch, affording us privacy if we wanted to sleep in and bringing us amenities if we needed them. The room provided Internet that worked good considering the location. We could stream videos and get corporate email. Do buy mosquito spray, it is not just Princess Heights but all of the island and handy when going to restaurants. I would recommend this place to families and couples alike.

Wow! What a nice place!

This hotel is top-notch in terms of service, beauty and cleaniless! We arrived after the office had closed on a dark, rainy night to find out that our travel booking website had not made the change in our itenerary with the hotel! Security called the manager who showed up right away and put us in a room without question. Lotte was a wonderful help and gave excellence advice and service for local attractions and help in booking special tours. The ONLY drawback for us is the hotel's location. Dawn Beach was extremely quiet and there are very few activities within close distance. We found ourselves driving/calling a cab to head back toward the Philipsburg almost daily. If you don't mind a quiet location, this is a fantastic choice!

Nice quiet place to relax

Great ocean view, much better than most of the Westin below has to offer. Nice patio to have breakfast on with view of St. Barts in the distance. Very modern and clean interior. Off the beaten path and island traffic. Well equipped kitchen. Rec center nothing to write home about - bare minimum. It takes a few minutes to reach the upper units by car from the main road. Location on Island is remote and it takes a while to get to the other places including Casinos and the core of the French side. So definitely for people how like their privacy and like to be away from traffic. Footpath to Dawn beach longer than expected and not the prettiest by the Westin parking garage. Dawn beach a bit rough and rocky. We stayed here one week as a family in a two-bedroom suite and felt like it was a very good choice.
