Huge Room & Veranda

I was very pleased with my stay at La Plantation. The room was huge…..one of the biggest hotel rooms I've ever stayed in. I loved the wrap around veranda, as I had a corner room. The ambiance of the property was pleasing and it was very quiet. I enjoyed the daily breakfast buffet. While this is not a beach front property, Orient Beach is a relatively short walk or a quick drive away. If you're looking for action, this isn't the part of the island to stay on……the Simpson Bay area might be a better choice. But for a relaxing stay at a very nice property on the quiet side of the island, La Plantation is a good choice.

It's a short drive to Grand Case, billed as the "gastronomic capital of the Caribbean", with many excellent restaurants on the main street in the little town.

Great Hotel

For the price, location and amenities, I really don't think La Plantation can be beat. We received an upgrade to a suite upon check-in without even asking and were really happy with the size of the room. The kitchen looked to have been recently updated and had everything we needed. However, since breakfast was included in the price and we were near the great restaurants in Orient Village, we didn't cook very much. With that said, the hotel is about a 5-10 minute walk to the Village and also the beach. We felt safe the entire time, both on the hotel grounds in and the surrounding area. We've already started planning our trip back. And, of course, we'll be staying at Hotel La Plantation.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

The hotel has an agreement with three of the beachfront restaurants that allows free access to their beach chairs. You can either walk to these down the main road toward the beach, or take a short cut to Waikiki and Coco Beach through a side road. You'll see the signs. It cuts the beach walk to about five minutes.

No disappointments here!

We just returned from a 7 night stay on the island and split up our stay at different hotels. This was our first stop. Our room was clean and view from balcony was beautiful. Very close to the famous orient beach which we visited each day. Village restaurants are great also. This is so worth the money!!!

Hotel La Plantation

For the past 15 years we have spent a week at Orient Beach at numerous hotels right off the beach. While they were nice, they did not compare to Hotel La Plantation. La Plantation is a 5 minute walk from the beach but the hotel was worth the additional walking distance. The rooms were large and well laid out. They included a modern kitchenette, including a refrigerator, cooktop, stainless steel sink, and granite countertop. There were plenty of cooking utensils and dining ware. Because it is at a higher elevation, the views were good from the lower level rooms and fantastic from the upper level room. All rooms had huge terraces to appreciate the wonderful views. The entire hotel was spread out so you had privacy and did not feel that you were on top of you neighbor's apartment. While other hotels advertise free breakfasts, they offer only the basics and charge additional for anything more. The breakfast buffet at La Plantation however, was quite generous and could fill you up until dinner time. The staff at La Plantation was always very friendly and always willing to help in which ever way they could. We are looking forward to return this hotel for our future visits to Saint Martin.

An Ok Place

The hotel was fine, comfortable, clean room. My biggest complaint was the noise. The pool is lovely and refreshing but the music was a bit much. Piped in, loud, American hit music. It was not charming and far from relaxing. Being at the pool and restaurant was not a pleasant experience. Also, be warned, the beach area is the same; loud music blaring up and down the beach. The breakfast buffet is the same every day. Not so great, but it was certainly sufficient. I probably won't return.

If you're on a budget check out Simply Market. Pick up some wine, cheese, French bread, for a cheap evening in the hotel. Also stock up on bottled water here. A lot less expensive than at the beach.

Our favorite place!

This was our 3rd time staying at La Plantation. The staff is super friendly and helpful, the free breakfast is fantastic and the room and terrace are spacious and comfortable. We have been to st. Martin 13 times now, and would not hesitate to book there again. One tip: Turn off the air conditioner before showering or you will blow a fuse. Daniella at the front desk is a wonderful person.

Good

A great location, up high with a nice breeze and view of Orient Bay. Some staff memebers are great and others have a negative attitude. Our room was lacking blankets and pillows. Our towels were not replaced even though they were all used and on the floor. All in all a good place to stay for Orient Bay. We will stay there again because it seems like the best option for the area.
