Divi Little Bay

Divi was ok, we didn't see much of the resort since we were there during Tropical Storm Otto and it rained almost every day. There was a curfew due to weather one night and the hotel took pretty good care of us for dinner, I don't think they were accustomed to having that many people all at once so there was a lot of scrambling to get all the guests fed. Our room was really nice and the staff was very good about cleaning it every day. I would recommend Divi to anyone staying on St. Maarten but renting a car is a must for making your trip enjoyable.

Fun and Sun at the DIVI

Hotel rooms a bit small but just 5 steps to the beach and Little Bay. The water is clear and calm and they have just updated the water sports added many activites for all beach play. The hotel in general has a nice outdoor bar and grill the main dining is a bit overpriced but they have the best breakfast buffet which was inculed with the room.

St. Maartin - June 11 - June 19

The trip on Friday June 11 started out badly. Arriving at the St. Maartin Airport for a week stay, we had already paid $46 per person [...] to handle our transfer's from the airport to the Divi Little Bay Resort, but no one was there to pick us up. One hour later, we finally located the bus driver. He had taken another couple (not scheduled) to the resort earlier and left us behind. Very disappointing situation at 9 p.m. at night. [...] We did have numerous cab drivers offer to take us ($50-one way). Get the name of your carrier before you leave and mark it on your transfer papers.Areas of Concern: DO NOT order and pay for any activity online. Those companies do not exist in St. Maartin. You will need to check with the Concierge when you arrive for all activities. Although the Concierge at Divi Little Bay is not there on Saturday or Sunday to help you. So don't plan for anything until Monday a.m. Also, Orbit issued a certificate to us for complimentary breakfast meals, but the resort charged us $43 every morning and would not honor the certificate. We also assured adjoining rooms when we purchased the tickets but that didn't happen either along with the airline seats to each airport (Houston, Miami and St. Maartin). Our seats were all over the plane and we were at the counter at every airport to get our seats corrected. We also found at each airport that the restaurants were out of most of there leading foods on the published menus. Bring snacks. Taxi Union services are unacceptable. $28 for 4 to town each way. Private cabs charge $12-17 for the same trip. Call your own cab, it's cheaper. We have been to this property in the Caribbean before, but not with our daughter and grandson. My daughter speaks fluent French and that helped us allot on this trip. We did notice a lot of changes so we decided to have dinner out. We had a superb fish dinner at Lee's on front street. The next night we had a Mexican dinner at Jimbo's, the service and cuisine was great. The third night we had an Italian dinner on the French side of the island called La Rose Too. The food and atmosphere was superb. On the last night we had a huge fish dinner at the Original Greenhouse at the dock (the taxi's know the place). We had dinner at the resort only once when they had lobster & steak. They didn't publish that meal was$70 per person. The food was good but not $70 worth. Would we go back? I don't think so. St. Lucia, BVI, St. Thomas were more interesting.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

Do Not purchase any activity from the website. These companies do not exist. Check with the Concierge (if available) for activities. Experience the Cuisine on the island, eat out at the local resturants. You might be suprised with how good the food tastes. We did. Shopping should be handled separately not on the tour, especially if you plan to visit Margot and not when the ships are in port.

Terrible Service,

Service Employees are only interested on that Service Fee. Please note; when I asked several employees about the Service Fee (15% Service which is added to your bill)they all gave me different answers, by the employees doing this, this means that they are either lying or they do not know or maybe they are playing Dumb and just want that extra "TIP" on the bill. They forgot to clean the room and the floor during our stay. It seems like they might do this on purposes so that you will buy a timeshare...Because I walk to the timeshare area, and it is beautiful and clean.

Divi Little Bay

The staff here is awesome and within walking distance to Philipsburg, which is a must see. The only thing that sucks is Philipsburg shuts down very early, around 5:30pm each day, and only a few places are open to drink and eat (casinos are open as well)
