NOT so luxury hotel

This is a hotel that thinks it is luxury but IT IS NOT. The location is good, but the hotel is very tired and old. The hallways and the rooms have a musty smell and are not very clean. This was my first stay at a Swissotel, and it will be the last,I will never stay at a Swissotel again.

4 days/3 nights stay

I stayed at Mandarin-Oriental and the Swissotel, the Stamford during my last visit to Singapore and they were great. It made me want to try another Swissotel. Therefore, I booked the Merchant Court. It looked nice at the beginning. However, I saw the bathroom ceiling with visible mold and very bad finishing of tile seals all over the tiling walls. The staff gave me a different packaging of conditioner for the 2nd & 3rd night. Two free bottles of drinking water did not show up until the 3rd night. [...] Kind of disappointed with my stay at this hotel.

Great Deal

My wife and I stayed in the executive club level and loved it. If you want to spend the extra money, it's worth it. It's only a few steps from Clarke Quay river front and just across the bridge from most of the restaurants/clubs (5 min walk). Of course, b/c it's a tourist area, everything is over priced so spending the extra money on the executive club can actually be a bargain. The executive club comes w/ free internet, free breakfast buffet, and free cocktails from 6-8 pm. Otherwise, internet is approx S$27, drinks are S$10-15 each, and breakfast is easily S$20+ depending on what you get, so you may end up spending more w/out the luxury of the executive club room. The staff is friendly and the breakfast buffet is delicious with different options every day. The pool is enjoyable but drinks are over priced and not strong at all. The gym is well equipped for a hotel gym so you should be able to get the workout you want while on vacation/business. MRT is also steps away from the entrance. Noise from Clarke Quay can reach your hotel room at night but my wife and I sleep soundly, so it wasn't a problem for us. Overall, a great experience and less expensive than nearby hotels of similar quality. I gave "Value" a 4/5 b/c the prices of hotel food/drink as well as nearby restaurants were over priced, but the value of the room was a 5/5.

Wine shops are nearby if you want a nice bottle of wine without paying the inflated prices at the hotel. The bartenders at the hotel bar will open the bottle for you.

Nice 4 star hotel, great for the price

I have stayed here many times in the past few years. If you are looking for a reasonably priced 4-star hotel in an excellent location, this is it. The rooms are small, but big enough to hang out and work or for two to get ready for a night on the town. The location is great if you want to be close the Clark Quay for entertainment and eating, the MRT is right down stairs, Chinatown and Boat Quay are only 3 minute walks, and downtown is only a 15 minute walk or a short cab ride. All-in-all this is really great hotel. The rooms are very clean and up-to-date. The staff is friendly and very helpful. This hotel is much better than many other 4-stars in Singapore and considerably less expensive than any of the 5-stars that aren't in need of a renovation. I have tried everything from the budget hotels to the high-end 5-star hotels in SGP, but this one fits the bill for a short stay, especially if you have a moderate budget. The budget hotels are a lot cheaper, but there is a huge drop in quality and services, and the 5-stars are considerably more expensive for marginally better accommodations.

Good location, not luxury rooms thoug...

Staff was helful and tries to solve everything, but it seems they have been instructed to put you in a less than avg room and if you complain, then they upgrade you. When you arrive so many times at 1-3am, this behavior gets old and works as a negative.

Very good no frills hotel in great locat

I like this hotel a lot, I have stayed there a few times, bad thing is that not sure if a coincidence or they do it on purpose and see if you don't complain....4/4 I checked in and AC did not work properly, tv did not work properly (only BW), remote did not work properly, or king size bed with two small pillows. Staff is great, they fix it quickly or change to another room...still something they could fix for good.

Fire whoever gave this dump 4 stars!

Godawful service from the restaurant, with numerous complaints ignored. I was frequently seated at tables that still had food scraps on them from the previous patron (never cleaned), and even watched one restaurant employee bump into a guest, spill his drink, and not even excuse herself or apologize. The GM and Restaurant Mgr of this dump should be fired. This property is a disgrace to the Swissotel brand.
