The Porcelain Hotel is the latest add-on to the most distinctive streets of Chinatown in Singapore.

Restored from adjoining traditional shop-houses align Mosque street, the Hotel is inspired by Blue Flowers porcelain developed in the Tang Dynasty using cobalt blue pigments originated in Middle East. Enjoy the sights of these exquisite porcelain prints, not in forms of vases and bowls but be mystified by specially designed the porcelain-inspired spaces, tempered with a contemporary touch.

Excite your senses by the uniquely conserved architectural buildings and heritage that surround the Porcelain Hotel.

Pretty but Small

The hotel is very pretty and recently renovated. I had a double room, but it was so small that two people could not fit in and even worst the suitcases. The hotel does provide you with shampoo, bath soap, comb, shaving cream, raisers, toothpaste, and toothbrush, but the bathroom was not completely clean. We did ask for more attention in the cleaning but it did not improve. The price and the location of the hotel are excellent.

sensory deprivation box

If you want to sleep in a tiny, dark room with no windows, to overcome your jetlag, this place is for you. It's so small you'll need to get creative about where to put your luggage. I think it's insane to charge people more than $100 a night for a shoesized black box, but then again, it is Singapore. Still, for $40 a night, you can check into WINK hostel across the street, and sleep in a pod, but a pod with a window.

Extra small room

The room is so small that because of no chair one person can sit on high bed and other has to sit on toilet. The bed is closed in on three and a half sides. Only two hooks for clothes to be hung. No room for two to store luggage. No privacy in bathroom as door glass see through. Shower one side of glass see through. Only couples that want to watch each other bath and go to the toilet can enjoy this set up. 2nd person has to crawl over first person in bed if that person is on the open side. Would not have stayed except room paid for and no refund allowed. Security deposit required on check in not returned up on check out but to be taken care of later. Do not recommend this hotel at all. The location was excellent if you wanted to be in Chinatown. But many other hotels in area.

You've been warned

Arrived early and I did appreciate the early admission to the cruise ship sized room. The hotel is new, unique and attractive; however, I just could not get beyond the size of the room. There is no room, just a bed surrounded by three walls and a small aisle. The washroom is unusable after the shower is used: it is one in the same, in fact the entire bathroom floor is the drain for the shower. The place has it's features, but I've never stayed in a hotel that has no windows in the room. It was weird to walk outside and go "oh, it's raining, why didn't I know this and dress for the weather...oh yeah, I can't see outside!" As I knew what to expect by reading other reviews I was prepared and enjoyed my stay. Staff were nice, room was clean, location was great with the MTR Chinatown station right around the corner. Often walked down to the waterfront, an easy 10 minute stroll. Would I stay again. No, I've done this one, I'll cross it off my list and move on to something bigger next time. My youth days are long gone.

It's a new hotel and the room

It's a new hotel and the room is compact. Very close to the Chinatown MRT station, thus easy to go everywhere. Since Singapore is small, the hotel is also not far from any major spots by walking. Staffs are very nice and helpful.

Small in Singapore!

We stayed at the Porcelain Hotel for four nights during our visit to Singapore. Since we arrived at Changi International Airport around midnight, we spent the first night at the Ambassador Transit Hotel inside the airport. This is a good option for late arrivals since the MRT stops running at midnight; note the hotel is inside customs so you won't have access to any checked luggage until after you exit customs. Fortunately, we only packed carry-on luggage, which proved helpful as well for our stay at the Porcelain Hotel! Here are the pros and cons of our stay at the Porcelain Hotel; we were in a superior room with a double bed: Pros: -- The hotel is one block from Chinatown and the MRT, which makes it an ideal location! Easy access to numerous restaurants, bars, and souvenir shopping. -- The newly opened hotel had plush towels, a comfortable bed, and the room had a small fridge, hot water pot, and a universal outlet. -- Free WiFi in the room! Cons: -- The room is very small! Tiny, really! No room for luggage and no closet (four hangers on wall hooks). -- The entire hotel is dark with black and blue decor and "can" lights providing the only lighting (don't even try putting on make-up in the bathroom, ladies!). The hotel staff actually carry around flashlights! -- The room had no windows! This made an already dark room even darker, which is good for sleeping in but not much else. While this kept the outside noise down, you could still hear people talking in the hallway, as well as the housekeeping staff at all hours (although we still returned late one afternoon to find our tiny room hadn't been made up!). -- The bathroom walls are made of glass, so you can see everything! Also, did I mention the room is small!? While a small room might be okay for a night or two, we'd only recommend staying at the Porcelain Hotel for the location near Chinatown. As far as things to do in Singapore, we went to Sentosa Island (artificial but there are beaches there; can't say much for the food on the island or the attractions, which are pricey), and also headed to the Singapore Flyer and Marina Sands hotel (both cost about $30/person for a view at the top). We also spent two days watching the golf tournament at the HSBC Women's Championship at the Tanah Merah Garden Course - terrific! By the way, our departure flight was at 8:00am in the morning, and the Chinatown MRT station doesn't open until after 6:00am, which would have us arriving at Changi Airport too late. Luckily, taxis are very inexpensive; it cost just over $20 from the hotel including the late night/early morning surcharge. Hope this helps! Enjoy your trip to Singapore, and don't forget to try some laksa while you're there!

Rooms described as cosy. They

Rooms described as cosy. They are very small. Very little room for luggage. The ensuite takes up almost half of the room and has glass walls. No window in the room. Staff are extremely helpful and location is excellent. Right in the centre of Chinatown. Recommended for a quick stop, but if you are staying more than a couple of nights, you might want to look for a hotel with larger rooms.

Standard Single
