Traveller's Delight

The staff was friendly and very helpful, in every possible way - from providing suggestions and directions to offering computer assistance. The consierge even researched our bus connections to travel to the tree top walk. The printed route was waiting for us when we returned from breakfast. The bed was extremely comfortable and we had a nice city forest view. We were within comfortable walking distance to Clark Quay and the MRT. Just around the corner were a number of eateries, including several casual and fine dining establishments in Raffles City. We were very pleased with our hotel stay and would recommend.

Excellent!

I was in Singapore only for one night with a late flight back on the second day. The hotel staff were excellent. They allowed me to check out at 1pm at no extra cost and gave me complimentary room use in the evening to freshen up before my departure. The hotel staff were incredibly attentive and friendly.

Perfect Business Hotel

The hotel is centrally located with the MRT close at hand. Rooms are clean and comfortable but perhaps a little overpriced for what you receive. There was a certain musty smell from the bathroom area but it did not affect the overall ambience of the room. Wi-fi worked well and the in-room coffee and tea facilities were a welcome touch. The swimming pool and gym area were well-maintained. They offered a respite to the humidity and were used frequently by many guests. All in all, it's a comfortable business hotel with a great location that you pay a premium for.

Dining tip: Not Applicable

Enjoy your chilli crabs in hawker centres as you will receive far more value for your money. Be wary of any place offering seasonal prices on seafood as they can decide how much to charge day-by-day.

Very good hotel, but if you like watching tv or using the internet, beware.

The good: helpful staff, fantastic location, very clean and pleasant atmosphere. The mediocre: small but functional gym (only one elliptical), limited channel selection on the tv, and no movies at all. The disappointing: the gym apparently closes at 10pm, but this not posted anywhere. I wouldn't mind if I knew, but it is unpleasant to be kicked out in the middle of a workout without warning. Also, on their website, it says "free internet, breakfast and laundry services." What that means is some rooms include the price of internet (but not always), breakfast is available, but overpriced, and laundry services are appallingly expensive. I find their statement misleading. Also, the internet was almost unusable it was so slow. It had a hard time loading images, let alone anything with animations or video, so I could not get tv or movies online, either. I was there for 10 days, so I know it was not just a one-day issue, too. I was still happy overall, but there were a few minor annoyances, like the lack of entertainment due to very limited tv channels and unusable internet, that one does not expect at a 5-star hotel.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Don't bother with the hotel food or going to chijmes (a nearby western-style restaurant court). You will eat far better food at any of the sketchy-looking foodcourts in the nearby shopping malls, on street corners, or in the subway stops. Don't be afraid: sanitation standards in singapore are incredibly high, with strict penalties for violating them, so everything is safe to eat. Also, vegetarians, rejoice! Virtually every foodcourt has a stall that sells strictly vegetarian faire (though much of it looks disturbingly like meat - its amazing what they can do with soybeans), and it is really excellent stuff! My best meals in singapore cost less than 3 dollars.

The hotel brings all that one expects from this category, nothing exceptional but a solid very good experience. Excellent value for money, a strong consideration when one has to balance budget vs. convenience.

Nice Hotel, Nice Location

This was a nice hotel. It was clean and nice. The lobby is impressive, and all seemed well-maintained.When I first arrived in Singapore, it was 1am, and I was not prepared for the humidity. My bed almost seemed wet. I was able to crank the A/C so that it got comfortable. The next day, I took a long walk to the Flyer (about 20 minutes), and that walk will make you sweat in Singapore. Afterwards, I hung out in the pool for a while. The pool is nice and has places for you to recline. It feels great in the humidity. My work site was right off of the Metro, so it was nice that the City Hall Metro station is a block and a half away. SunTec is a 10 minute walk. Raffles is about 3 blocks away. The concierge was great too. I really enjoyed talking with [...].Incidentally, you'll have to pay for Internet, which I think was $100 for the week. No wireless options, only wired. The TV is HD, but no HD signal.

Started badly, ended well

As the title says things didn't start well. The front desk greeting was abysmal with liitle interaction, no info was offered on where things were such as the lift, dining etc. The initial room was also a disaster, broken kettle, dangerous iron and to top it off no towles (rang reception and 20 min later nothing arrived). This may seem like little stuff but this is a 5 star hotel. A discusion with the duty manager did bring results with an offering of a room on the club floor and all of it's trimmings. To be honest it was more than required and we just wanted a decent room. Once we overcame the initial hiccups though I would rate the hotel well, the breakfast was good and there was plenty of variety to choose from, housekeeping was consistent and they didn't miss restocking a thing. The hotel is well situated and we were able to walk to many of the tourist spots. Clarke Quay is 10 min (great at night), Chinatown about 20 min and even Orchard road is about 20 min but would recommend taking a cab considering how much walking you will do once you arrive. We even walked back from the Marina Bay Sands after seeing the Lion King (highly recommended). We had no problems with the tours we booked (concierge are very helpfull) There is a technology mall across the road and it has some great places to eat, if you haven't spent all your money on the gadgets first. I would recommend the Night Safari too, it's about 30 min by cab. The overall impression of this hotel was that we would go back despite the initial issues as we genuiely believed the manager was sympathetic to what had transpired on arrival. Be advised though that just like most rooms in these regions they are quite small by Au standards but no smaller than other hotels we have stayed at.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Walk towards the Bugis markets, on the corner of Bras Basah and Victoria Street (hotel side) there is a beautifull old church complex which is now full of great places to eat called Chijmes. We found it purely by accident, no one mentioned it and we found nothing promoting it, from Pizza to something more exotic you will find it inside and it's just a nice place to stop and relax.
