to much noise during the night

the rooms are really nice colored in blue. but we could not sleep because of the noise from the traffic (busy street!) and the barking dogs. i liked the breakfast...different kind of fruits and toasts. the price of the internet access key was not always the same...it depended who was on the reception.

Outrigger was great

Great central location. It has a hostel flavor to it. I met people from all over the world. Stayed in the fales. It is not a luxury place but quaint and for a good price. The pool was nice to have after a hot day of exploring or going to the beach. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Very good service

I was very pleased with the good service that I received from [...]at the Samoan Outrigger. I have been to Samoa a few times as my husband is Samoan and he is working on a house on the family property. The house was not ready for me to stay there so I booked a room at the Samoan Outrigger. When I arrived in Samoa I found that I would be able to stay at the house and I asked [...] to give me a refund even though he was under no obligation to do so according to the written policy. He was kind enough to do so. In a city where service is almost non existant this was a very pleasant surprise. His hotel is clean and quaint, painted a very pretty blue and white. The furniture is lovely and the front staff are very nice and professional. [...] was professional and accomodating and I will not hesitate to stay there anytime I am unable to stay in the house in the future. I was very happy with the cleanliness, the staff, the service, the location and definately the price of this hotel.

Dining tip: Not Applicable

I have found that in Samoa there is a real lack in good restaurant service. The wait staff will bring whatever they want in spite of what you order, if you complain, they just look at you and say sorry but is everything okay anyway. I find this the most frustrating experience. My most recent fiasco was at Giordano's which is considered a good restaurant. I ordered a Seafood Salad without onions. My salad came with red onions. I sent it back, the salad came back to me exactly the same and I am told that the red onions are in fact cabbage. This was the most ridiculous experience yet when it comes to restaurants in Samoa. The gall of the whole thing was that the owner was sitting at the very next table and he did nothing to fix the situation or make sure I was a satisfied customer. I will never set foot in Giordanos as long as I live.

The bed was like sleeping on floor

The bed was like sleeping on floor boards - obviously the owners have never slept on their beds. Almost no lighting ie what was there was so dim you could hardly see. No tea making facility. no internet cards, they had run out. Staff very nice though. The bathroom needed a larger basin that was not tucked under the mirror so you had no hope shaving or rinsing your face without cracking your head on the shelf immediately above the basin- again obviously the owners do use the facilities to see if they work as they should. Place looked great.

One week in Samoa.

I stayed at the Outrigger Hotel for 1 week, in a fale. The staff was friendly, good breakfast included in the price and it was very clean. It was an interesting experience to sleep in a fale.. and I am glad I did it. Just remember to bring bug spray. The location is good. Very close to downtown Apia, only 10min to walk. It is, however, a bit far away from the beaches, but the pool at the hotel was great. It gets very hot in the middle of the day, so good to have a way to cool down.

Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

There are a few bars and clubs in downtown Apia: Coctails on the Rocks was the one with the most tourists. Next door to it is V bar, where you can go dancing. Crabbers is also next door, filled with mostly local people.
