All inclusive vacation
Staff was very friendly and helpful. The sports staff was available to help with lessons and guidance for those who were kayaking or waterskiing for the first time. Water sports were included so it was a good opportunity to try new things. Not much to do at night unless you go into town.

FYI
Coming from the states we had expected something completely different. we had expected a super clean and classy place and was a little dissapointed when we had got there. the room we had been put in was somewhat run down, so we decided to pay a little extra for a suite which was well worth it. The trip was awsome and have no regrets but be sure to realize where you are going and lifestyles may be different than where you come from. the nature was amazing and worth it!! But remember sun screen and bug spray.

Disappointed
The hotel grounds were very pretty. The pools were nice, but not the cleanest, as they are 10 feet from the beach. Many people don't wash off the sand and go straight from beach to pool, leaving the pool looking dirty. Staff was working around the clock to keep the grounds maintained and cleaned, while they should have been taking lessons on customer service. Service was very poor. Upon arrival (after a 2 hour ride from the airport!) the reception was very disorganized and not very informative. We were corralled with other families and given a briefing of the resort as a whole. Not very personal. Once we got to the room....they were DISGUSTING. Very outdated and ANTS/bugs everywhere. The bathrooms are the worst. There were holes in the walls and spider webs. The grout in the shower was black. I absolutely refused to bathe my 10 month old daughter in the tub. The crib that was provided for her though was good. Beds were comfortable. The restaurants were above average. The italian restaurant was the best. Followed by the buffet. The website says that there are golf carts for use. The resort is very large and spread out and often a hike to your room. It was impossible to get a ride on a golf cart, as most of them are used by nasty employees. My husband was even refused a ride to our room by one of them. Very bad customer service. Wi-fi was only in the lobby and lounge and didn't always work. Also we heard of at least 3 robberies while we were there. Inside jobs stole anything from money to cologne, so lock your stuff in the tiny box they call a safe. I felt that we paid too much for what we got. We did have a couples massage outside in the wedding gazebo which was very nice. People working in the spa were good. Overall, our vacation was nice b/c of what we made it. I wouldn't recommend the hotel to others simply due to the customer service and nasty rooms.

Great vacation spot!
Visted summer of 2011. Overall a good experience. The resort is in a great location on the island. The food was good; however for dinner if you want to dine at a restraunt other than the Cove you have to make reservations days in advance. My husband and I thought La Trattoria was the best. A lot of activities to choose from, there were also a lot of kids - we had signed up for sailing and wind surfing but all the equipment was broken or in use..My husband and I rented a car and spent most of our time exploring the island.

Amazing and unforgettable week
My family and I had the time of our lives. This is the perfect place to make everyone in the family happy! I loved the spa, my husband got to golf (the only golf course on the island is across the street,) my sons each found different things to do (though both pretty much lived on the water slide.) Lots of places to eat, whether laid back at the buffet or more fancy dining at Cafe Asia or family dining at La Trattoria, there was something for everyone (and there's a seafood place too!) We would have loved to stay another week and are planning my family reunion this summer!

A vacation to remember
Had a great week in St. Lucia with my family. The resort although older seems to be undergoing a serious upgrade! The rooms were big and comfortable - not super luxurious but nice. What we really loved where the grounds and gardens - truly spectacular tropical gardens - and its huge so lots of room to walk and work out if that's your thing. The kid's club was really helpful - my four year old made lots of friends and spent her day painting, and doing crafts which she loves. Our favorite restaurant was the Asian - no kids allowed but delicious food and very pretty. Breakfast recommendation - pastries at the Cove (hence the need for all the long walks and swims!). The beach is relatively small and is not white sand but still enjoyed it but spent most of our time in the pools. What really made our trip special was the staff - so helpful - big thanks to Sherman the watersports guru for his patience and enthusiasm.

A return to paradise...
Visited in 2010 just after the hurricane and the hotel was excellent but this year 2011 sees the hotel take it up a notch... The hotel is in an amazing location in the north of St.Lucia and has a top management team running the show. Food this year was vastly improved along with restaurant service...the 4 restaurants gave us a great variety during our week. The Cove restaurant (buffet style) has vastly improved, the beach BBQ they do each day for lunch is perfect for grabbing a quick bite to eat. The kids really loved this... The new spa is top notch with great treatments, an addition that was not there back in 2010. The pools need a little TLC although it is perfectly acceptable. Smugglers Cove is an amazing resort on an amazing island and once you leave the resort you appreciate how good it is... nothing is too much trouble for the management team and the service was superb. All staff are very friendly to the point of almost being scripted - but, for the most part it is genuine. Great value, great service and an excellent holiday.

Fantastic Vacation
My husband I felt this was the best vacation we have ever had. We have not been to an all inclusive hotel before but we will do it again. We were worried as we had heard food at an all inclusive could be not so great but Smugglers Cove was fantastic. We did Cafe Asia twice and the Italian and restaurant on the water once but luved the buffet restaurant. I really enjoyed yoga and we did a lot of the watersports. Every night the show was different and all were very talented. It rained a few days but we still had plenty to do. My husband learned archery as well. Great vacation.

Location was good
We went ziplining; we met some great people; party boat outing was great; loved the horse back riding; the spa was great good deals for couples! The staff were fantastic! What was missing was the double sink in the bathroom & better water pressure in the shower. Also, we wish there was more vegetarian dining & waffles at breakfast. More breakfast choices at the other restaurants. The Cove was all buffet. This was our first all inclusive which was nice. On other trips, they werent't all inclusive but the rooms were a lot more updated, especially the bathrooms; jacuzzi tub a lot easier to fill & get into with his & her robes; free transportation from airport.

Short walk from hotel
It was good to be able to have a few choices and take a short walk for your meals rather than trying to get a taxi to a restaurant everyday for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Buffet dining is great because you have several choices & they provided snacks.
