Great January Trip, Non-Stop from PHL

Overall it was a very pleasant experience at Sandals La Toc. There are plenty of restaurant options and the fare was certainly above average for "resort" food. There are several pools to choose from but most of the focus is around the Pavilion pool (main deck area). The beach is somewhat small but the water was very clear with good visibility for underwater activities. The attitude of the staff could potentially be improved (not bad, but also not outstanding). I do not like to complain, but I simply did not feel blown away with the staff (there were a few that stood-out but not many). In my experience, St. Lucians outside of the resort were the most interesting and also the most receptive (guided day excursions are the best method to experience the local offerings). We visited Sandals Grande and it seemed to have nicer facilities and a larger and more inviting beach. The main pool area was also more elaborate (I suppose that is the reason it is called the Grande).

Absolutely try the "Joe Knows" day excursion which is affiliated with Sandals. The day trip includes a boat ride to great photo opportunities, volcano mud bath, hot springs, waterfall, snorkeling, and a home cooked lunch.

Horrible!

We went here for our Honeymoon 9/12/11 to 9/18/11. Well, we were stuck there due to the bridges flooding Sunday the 18th after driving 4 ½ hours around the mountain and a 1 ½ boat ride to the airport…. That’s was Sandal’s bright idea. We get to the dock and had to wait another 30-40 minutes for a bus to show up because the resort wasn’t organized. We barely missed our flight and had to go back to the resort (another hour drive) and their way of saying sorry for the inconvenience was a room of course and a complimentary 3 minute phone call…… My husband lost it. He said, what is this, a prison? They said. Sir, that’s all we can afford.… He was livid. He said I don’t think so. After all these people spent a lot of money you can afford more. So they gave us 30 minutes. Ridiculous. We were able to get an earlier flight Monday so we went from St. Lucia to San Juan to Miami to Houston. Exhausting! That resort was nothing like the website. The rooms were old and had a weird smell to them. There were cats and birds everywhere when we were eating. Birds were grabbing food off the buffet. The service there was bad. They would act like it was an inconvenience to them to wait on us…. Oh and the golf course, terrible, and it's not free like the website says. You have to pay for the cart fee, club rental and pay your caddie. Ended up being $87. That island was just depressing. Shacks with tin roofs all along the road and poor skinny dogs running loose. Oh, and cows and goats tied to trees. So sad.

Awesome!

This hotel was one of the best I've stayed in! It truly was a paradise for my husband and myself. We recently stayed at La Toc for our honeymoon and were completely amazed at how friendly the staff were, how many activities there were to participate in especially in the evening(including beach and street parties, reggae bands, dances provided by locals) and the incredible service and food we experienced. There are multiple excursions that are also available during the day, however they do cost extra. Yet they are well worth it! We partipated in the "joe knows" tour. It was amazing! The scenery alone is awe inspiring. Go on that tour! FYI: we heard that the same tour is also available at a cheaper rate by individuals advertising on the beach (not affilated with sandals). The only negative I would say is that room service is not available (at least for indivuals staying in the hotel, it may be different for those in villas or suites) and the amount of water sports they offer is not as much as other hotels we've experienced. Our tour guide said the main reason for that is due to the aggressiveness of the ocean in that area. This hotel is one that my husband and I want to return to. We didn't want to come back home!!!

Pitone restaurant: some of the best food I've ever had! Also if you can, do a romantic beach dinner which you have to book through the resort. It was amazing!!

Simply Amazing

My husband and I went to St. Lucia for our honeymoon 12/26/10 - 1/1/11. We loved everything about the Regency. I thought the beach was nice, although a little small (length wise). The water was rough a couple of days we were there, but other days it was calmer and made for a nice swim. We really enjoyed the food, especially the made-to-order breakfast eggs, omelets, and pancakes. I agree with the other reviews to make your reservations at La Toc as soon as you can. When we arrived they were already booked up, but when a manager called to ask us how our stay was so far and we expressed our disappointment about not getting a reservation, she got one for us. Also, we went to the Japanese restaurant one night just by walking in and waiting (someone with a reservation didn't show up). We both liked the Italian place the best, and it does not require reservations. We were there for New Years Eve, and they had an outdoor meal with food from all the restaurants, plus the best lobster tail I have ever had in my life! This feast was definitely the best meal there! The pools were all nice and offered different things: the main pool was more crowded and had a lot going on, the middle pool was small and not crowded at ALL (mostly b/c there is no bar) and made a great place for an afternoon nap, and the upper pool was the best of both and was a GREAT spot for seeing the sunset. We took one day and went to the Grande resort, and personally I did not like their beach better; it was much more crowded, and although it was longer there was not as much "sand area" since the waves went up all the way to the fence that separates the beach from the pool area. Plus the view wasn't as pretty with all the boats in the bay. If I was going back I would stay at the Regency again. The only thing that was a little disappointing was the service at meals. Most of the employees we met were very friendly, but some of the waitresses we had at various restaurants acted like they were not happy to be there and did the bare minimum to wait on us. Other than that, we had a terrific stay. I saw other reviews mention lots of cats but we only saw a few, and they mostly stayed out of the way. We were so sad to leave, and can't wait to go back. Next time we hope to stay for a little longer!

We went on the zipline tour (booked through the resort). It was very entertaining and fun, although it took most of the day. I also heard good things about the "Joe Knows" boat tour around the island.

wonderful stay,. very hospitable staff

The best trip we ever took. Staff was great, always there to cater to whatever you needed. Lots of great entertainment. Beach was not what we expected, not as nice as we thought it would be. The Grande St. Lucian beach would have been more to our liking.Overall, it was a great experience.

St. Lucia 10/25

Overall we had a great time, before the Hurricane hit we were able to take a tour of the island. The hotel was ok, I felt other sandals resorts I have been kept up better. After the hurricane the staff was wonderful trying to keep everything as normal as possible. A lot of the staff worked 24/7 despite what personal damage they took own. The management on the other hand was not helpful or compromising at all. The managements customer service was horrible.

Must do the land and sea tour, if it is still running due to major island damage that have destroyed some of the must see highlights of the island.

Beautiful Resort

I was there for a wedding and the resort was amazing. The only thing I did not like was the resort was far away from the downtown area. Also, there where too many cats in the dining area and that I found very annoying.
