- Area description
- This 36-square-mile island lies near the top of the Lesser Antilles archipelago, about 200 miles south of Puerto Rico, and just west of Antigua. This island jewel is approximately 7 miles long and 5 miles wide, with natural vegetation that is unparalled. Green and serene, Nevis is truly one of the remaining unspoiled places and proudly carries the name, Queen of the Caribees. From the top of the 3,232-foot Nevis Peak to the depths of the clear waters offshore, there is a world of flora and fauna to be explored. In the hills, the comical green vervet monkeys chatter and scamper; in the sea, the whales cruise by. Stroll around and see the architecture of eras gone by: churches, windmills and refurbished Great Houses.

Honeymoon in Nevis
The staff at the Nesbit Plantation Beach Club is outstanding. Going during the off-season meant there was a small group of guests there, but it also meant that in short order all of the staff new us by name. Their attention to detail and genuine desire to please their guests was evident in everything they did. If you want a true sense of old-school Caribbean charm, without all the chain-hotel rigamarole, then go to Nevis and stay at the Nesbit Plantation Beach Club.

Nevis is definitely not overly developed, meaning most of your activities will be on the premises. Next time we go, we will be taking advantage of the meal plan pricing.

Beautiful Place, Beautiful Service
The hotel was superb. Food was excellent, staff was very friendly. The grounds are beautiful and it is very quiet and secluded. Great for people trying to get away from it all -- no TVs, radios. Very few children (maybe 4 under 14 at the resort) so great for a romantic getaway. People on the island are very friendly. We drove all around the island and it felt perfectly safe.

Shopping tip:
Not Applicable
The island is very remote -- there is little shopping at all. My fiancee's luggage was lost for 2 days and almost impossible to find any good clothes on the island -- the resort had the best, but very limited t-shirts.
