A reasonably priced nice hotel in Russia

This hotel is within walking distance of the Trans-Siberian rail station. It is located right on the Amur Bay of the Sea of Japan and therefore gives easy access to the waterfront boardwalk and amusement parks that are located in the city center part of Vladivostok. Lots of local tourism and family outings daily along this stretch of the waterfront. There is some noise from people enjoying the summer evenings, so it is not a place for complete relaxation. I had just completed the 7 day Trans-Siberian train journey from Moscow and Irkutsk, so was appreciative of a modern hotel and the amenities of hot water and very clean and working toilets etc. This hotel is not up to first class standards of most modern hotels in the U.S. but it is very clean and the staff were super friendly and helpful. Some of the staff speak english but not all of them. I used the hotel as a base for exploring Vladivostok which is a hilly interesting city. The hotel's location allowed easy access to the city center. It has a breakfast cafe open only from 7 to 11 am, otherwise there is no casual restaurant available within the hotel. On the ground floor there is a fairly large Chinese restaurant which has just about everything but was not particularly appealing to me as a single person (it seems set up more for larger groups of people). But nearby there are numerous places to get snacks and drinks along the waterfront and a number of restaurants are within 15 minutes walk. Compared to the other 3-star or less hotels I stayed in on my trip to Russia (4 weeks total stay) this hotel was one of the most comfortable. Only real annoyance was that the elevators are somewhat slow and un-predictable at times. The reception is on the 7th floor and rooms are below, since the main entrance from the city center is on the upper level.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

Walking along the waterfront. In this hilly city it is probably best to exit the hotel from the reception by going up two flights of wide staircase in the lobby and leaving the hotel higher up on the hillside. Then walk to the northwest along a nice avenue that follows the coast until you can descend to the boardwalk, amusement park, aquarium, beaches etc. Most days after noon it is filled with people on vacation and local people enjoying the waterfront, especially if it is sunny with no fog. Plenty of cafes and beer-gardens all along a 1-2 km section of waterfront.

Great Views from balconies.

The Amursky Zaliv at Vladivostok was nice and staff was friendly. Th room had a good size but no air conditioner which to a point was ok since it has an ocean front and the breeze makes it bearable. However, since you open the balcony door and then you have the problem of mosquitoes and then you cannot sleep. I strongly suggest you bring your own mosquito coils or killers until the hotel installs mosquito nets at the windows and balcony door.
