This very good value for money hotel enjoys an excellent central location. The beautifully renovated traditional facade sports pastel colours. The hotel is located in a quiet courtyard just off Nevskij Prospekt. The main sights, such as the Hermitage and St Isaac's Cathedral, are only a few minutes walk. Shops, bars and restaurants are close to the hotel.

Good midrange hotel

Hotel Aster is in a great central location to all the sites in St. Petersburg which is the best part of the hotel. The room I stayed in was up on the fourth floor of the building (no elevator) which was a bit a pain to walk up and down each day. The room was fairly small, but the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was also small, but the shower was good. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel also serves breakfast each morning was quite good.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

1. Short walk to Winter Palace/Hermitage 2. Plenty of dining choices around the hotel (The Spy Cafe is really cool and has a good food.) 3. Pizza place next door is also good.
