The 3 Star Izmailovo Vega Hotel Complex was built in 1980 for the XXII Olympic Games in one of the greenest and ecologically safe areas of Moscow. Famous Moscow ''Vernisage'' is also located in Izmailovo and is extremely popular both with the Muscovites and visitors to Moscow. We are not new to the tourism and hotel business - our Complex is more than 20 years old and we know how to make your leisure pleasant and varied.

Stary Dvorik Restaurant
The most elegant restaurant of the Izmaylovo Hotels Complex. Stary Dvorik is located on the ground floor of the Vega Hotel. This cosy restaurant offers exquisite Russian menu. Gourmets will have their tastes catered for: fish and meat solyankas (sour cabbage soup), pancakes with caviar and smoked chicken, mutton braised with garlic and pork shepherd-style are among the dished listed in the restaurant's menu. You can have a Russian Table laid with potatoes boiled in an iron pot, pickled mushrooms and cucumbers, sour cabbage, herring with onion, Russian pelmeny (meat dumplings), vodka and cranberry mors - an old traditional Russian soft drink.

A perfectly Soviet experience

This is a great mid-budget hotel which is a short metro ride to the center of town. The metro station was less that 5 minutes walk away, and the subways run CONSTANTLY. Our rooms were modest but adequate. The hotel is very safe. There are many amenities in the hotel, as well as right outside. We ate at many of the small local eateries and shopped for snacks at many of the 24hr groceries, all within 2 blocks of the hotel. If you stay at any of the Izmailovo hotels (they are all situated together), make sure you go to the Izmailovo market. CAVEATS: 1. Everyone smokes everywhere in Moscow. Even though our rooms were on a designated non-smoking floor, I was woken up on more than one occasion by the smell of cigarette smoke drifting into our room. The upside is that all the windows open, so you can air the room, to some degree. 2. Not all rooms have air conditioning, so if you are visiting during hot weather, make sure you request a room with a/c.

Hire a local guide to meet you at the airport and to spend a few hours with. He/she will be able to help you navigate the complexities of being in Moscow. This hotel is the best hotel in Moscow regarding price/service. Free wifi, close to metro and very friendly staff, but quite far from airport.
