Overpriced. Room rate not what I expected. Quoted 5000 rubles, not aware of additional 18% tax. Reception desk not ... friendly. Attitude towards AMericans.

Not bad, not great

The location, while not fabulous, is very good. It is withing easy walking distance of Red Square, for example. However, the ... distance to the nearest metro is more than I liked. Restaurants are not numerous in the area and the restaurant associated with the hotel (at the adjoining hotel (Pietr I) has outrageous prices. However, the room service food is good, and reasonable in price. Moscow is a big, world class city, so ridiculous prices for a room in a good area are to be expected if deplored. I would never stay here for rack rates. Orbitz got me a discount, but the prices are too high for me. I would not stay here again for that reason. Staff was quite pleasant, and receptions spoke good English.

The area itself has unexciting ambience, but if a friend wises you up, you will find you are only a couple blocks from two pedestrian malls that have a lot more. Make the correct turns and you will find yourself at the bottom of the second "mall" not far from Red Square. There is a Teremok (blini) outlet there. Be sure to try their custom made kvas (drink). It turned me from a "I can't believe people like this stuff" to a kvas lover.

Loved this Place!

This hotel is in a great location just minutes from Red Square and other important sites. The staff is very friendly and ... helpful and speaks great English. My wife and I felt very comfortable in the clean and large rooms. The hotel is slightly dated in a few areas, yet has a very charming and warm feel. We stayed here twice and will stay again if the opportunity presents itself. A great value for the price of the room!

Hotel Budapest
MajicT May 24, 2009
During my trip throughout Russia this is the best hotel I stayed in. It is located on a side street which may be difficult ... to locate the first few times but the street leads to two main ones on either side. The hotel is located in a very posh neighborhood and very safe. Red Square is located only a few blocks away (500m) as are many metro stations. The staff is very courteous and dependable even though not all have great english language skills but they try. I'll definitely stay here again if I ever return to Moscow in the future and I recommend it to anyone that is in search of a very reasonably priced comfortable place to stay in Moscow.

Great location, value, friendly staff, quiet
Scott Nov 23, 2008
The Best Eastern Budapest is my choice of hotels in Moscow. Its location, close to Red Square, is ideal. The hotel is on a ... quiet street. The rooms are quiet and private. The internet service is excellent. As Moscow is an expensive city, The Hotel Budapest is an excellent value. The hotel staff is very friendly and quite capable. Plus, my favorite vegetarian restaurant is right around the corner.
