Great Inner City Hotel
This Hotel is as Central in Bucharest as you are going to get. Minutes walk from the Old City (Lipscani) and within 15-20 minutes walk (one way) of 80+% of the tourist items most of which are on the Calea Victoriei. Metro in comfortable reach at Universitate, and more buses than you can shake a stick at run through the area for adventures in or beyond the center. The hotel is not much to look at from the outside and the lobby is a bit underwhelming, but you dont really "use" either so :) Accomodations are excellent. The well apointed room I stayed in was a double bed (if on your own book as two people or you may get a one person bed) no-smoking overlooking Regina Elisabeta Blvd. I loved the airy space - very clean and cool. Two things to be aware of that didn't bother me that might affect your choice. There are smoking and non-smoking rooms on the same floor (which can happen at any hotel I guess), and being where it is there's quite a lot of night time noise if your room faces the way mine did. Special note - air conditioning has a remote control and more modes than you could ever need. I really loved the "silent" mode which kept the room cool with only a whisper of sound and directed the air with a gently oscilating flap. If only US hotels would learn that lesson!!!! Small nit-picks. Only two smallish towels, which were fine for me. You might be able to get more if you ask. No box of tissues - I was sniveling with a cold so I noticed. Breakfast was typically continental - not much to my taste but seemed good quality and was included. WiFi was also included and it was fast at all times! Staff were great and very helpful - spoke good English. Only questionable item was there suggestion I take the "shuttle" to the Otopeni airport. This was actually a limo and very nice too, but cost 25 Euros, Probably 4x what a local taxi would have cost. Its you call. In my opinion good value at around $100 per night. Fully recommended - no hesitiation.

Nightlife tip:
Short walk from hotel
If you like party/club/eating out on the pavement (summer) type nightlife there is an abundance in the old city. Walk there and have a good time. Meet the locals they are friendly. It also felt like one of the safest late night areas I have known. You will get advertisements thrust in your hand for Erotic Massage, and taxi drivers who may be on commision will also spot you and encourage you to go to a "great time" they know. That's the worst of it. Say "Nu!" as many times as it takes, or "Da" for a mystery tour.

nice boutique hotel, great location
This is a new boutique-style hotel. It is perfectly located in the centre of Bucharesti, mere steps from the best restaurants, clubs, tourists attractions, and much more...yet the rooms are very quiet. Also, the AC works very well! Plus the buffet breakfast is very good. Two internet stations downstairs in the lobby and free Wi-Fi ensure your connections to the world beyond. Plus the hotel staff is very helpful.
