Good shower room in the pool area:

After my e mail correspondence with the reservation department, we were fully aware that all the twin rooms were at the back of the house with small windows. The only problem we had was, that most of the twin rooms were very noisy! All the machinery, air cooling systems and etc are at the back of the building so there is constant 24/7 buzzing noise in the room. Rooms on higher floors are the worst affected by noise. I have sent a few e-mails to the reservations department asking for a non smoking quite room and also mentioned that we will be arriving around midnight. When we arrived the reception said that we are checking in late so all the rooms are occupied! She said that she wasn’t aware of our request and there were no remarks from the reservation department. She said there are only two vacant smoking rooms to choose from, one was 1101 and the other one was on the 9th floor a tiny box room. Of course we chose 1101 which was a bit bigger but unaware about the noise and all the machineries outside our window! We didn’t sleep at all. We were very disappointed that receptionist knew, room 1101 will be very noisy she just tried it on us to give us that room! She was the one, who moved us on the next morning to room 810, which she apologized for the noise! On the following morning called the reception at 06:30am asked for a room move then we were moved to room 810 which was better than 1101 but still noisy. The reception manger was very nice, kind and helpful he gave us 06:00pm complementary check out on day of departure to compensate the first night, which we didn’t sleep at all. All the twin rooms are very small like a box! Might be ok for one person for one or two nights stay, but we were staying for 10 nights! The corner rooms with number 10s are a bit larger but the main problem was in the shower room! There was no screen to separate the shower from the rest of the bathroom it was practically a wet room. One of us tried to have a shower on the first day, which was a disaster the whole bathroom floor was wet! Water everywhere underneath the toilet underneath the washbasin! That was our first and last shower in the room, the remaining 9 days we had our shower using the swimming pool shower room. Which wasn’t an ideal situation, but we had to live with it. There was no other solution. We didn’t want to take the queen bed room at the front because one of us had to sleep on the sofa bed for 10 nights! It wasn’t an option for us. I will only recommend this hotel if someone is staying in a queen bed room at the front of the building.

convenient and efficient

i would stay here again because it is clean and convenient for business. when the weather is cool, it is about a 20min walk to souq waqif so you can combine a little exercise with a nice dinner if you are traveling for business. easy spot to be picked up and dropped off for appointments in the industrial areas.

Go see the bird shops and the falcon training shops. i'm not big on souqs, but souq waqif is aesthetically beautiful, clean, and low pressure. Worth a visit.

My Trip from the Twilight Zone, but with a caveat, quiet respite at Ramada - Encore

This business trip to Doha QATAR was my first business trip to the Middle East, and was very testing in numerous ways, but to no fault of the Hotel Ramada Encore. All of the staff members at Ramada Encore were the most accommodating Hotel staff with respect to my odd set of circumstances. One staff member that helped me throughout my whole trip and stay there at Ramada Encore was Florence at the front desk. She should be commended for her courteous and tenacious professionalism. I suppose it is easy when you're traveling and things don't go right to take things out on the Hotel employees and management, as I saw some of the front desk staff members go through some of these stressful type interfaces with Hotel guests during their checking in, but in each case, I witnessed, and this was knowing no more than I did, the Hotel employees maintaining calm and extreme professionalism. Also, I really did notice the higher star rating of Ramada Encore when I made these reservations, and NOW I know why it was so high. Finally, every meal I had there was very tasty and met and exceeded my expectations, even the Cheese Burger with French Fries. The Breakfast Buffet was absolutely first class awesome. Ramada Encore…Thanks for accommodating me on my trip. My only wish is that my wife could have been there to enjoy it with me.

Great location for the price

The room was spacious and clean. Hotel staff was very courteous and professional. I was there to work so I did not do any sight seeing. The hotel was in close proximity to some points of interest.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

There is a petrol station outside of the hotel. It has a convenience store and an ATM machine. No sales tax in Qatar so everything was relatively inexpensive.

Not Worth Cost or Aggravation

Anticipated a pleasant vacation weekend at the Ramada Encore Hotel after having viewed it online and exchanging emails with Ramesh - a nice staff member - about amenities. Unfortunately, experienced an unpleasant stay: broken refrigerator and malfunctioning TV upon check-in, no wireless internet in room, no vending machines or shop for buying snacks, NO brochures about Doha attractions and limited/confusing information about attractions from staff, charges for business center...even charges for local calls made by the front desk staff for ordering taxis or calling venues to determine visiting hours. The aggrevation of the lodging experience marred the trip. One bright note was the service provided by [...]at the front desk.

Great value, with a few minor drawbacks.

The hotel is new-ish and very boutique-y. The decor is very modern, very red, and very minimal. And while the quality of the finishes should be a bit higher for a top-end hotel, for a hotel in this price range it is fantastic (full back-painted glass bathroom, dark wood built-ins, red enamel accents, etc). Having been at a conference with a number of people staying at the Royal Qatar, s similarly to slightly more expensive and decidely shabbier hotel a few blocks away, I am confident the Encore is a much better value. The three drawbacks I experienced were as follows: - Unpleasant sewer odor apparently emanating from the shower drain. It was unclear if this was a problem unique to my room or a general phenomenon. It was only really noticeable if the shower door and bathroom door were left open while working at the desk. And to be fair, it never bothered me enough to ask for anything to be done about it. And I was there 4 nights. - No view from rooms on the side of the building. I was only there at night, so this didn't really bother me much. Beware the 4am call to prayer though, but that's an issue everywhere. - Air conditioner was unbearably loud. I was there in late-March and never really had a need for it. But when I did turn it on to stir up the air, it was quite loud. Too loud to sleep probably. Again, unclear if it was a general problem or not. All that said, I would recommend this place highly. It is a 10 min walk to the souq, 15 min to the corniche, and a short ride from the airport. It's very affordable and far more stylish than anything else in the price range. If contemporary design and value matter to you, I think it would be hard to beat this place. It's a good base for exploring the city or for an inexpensive business trip. Just bear in mind, the area surrounding the hotel is not at all fancy. This is not the West Bay. That said, it is safe and relatively clean, and gives a good sense of what most of Doha is actually like.

Great hotel, new and stylish.

I enjoyed my stay, it was very comfortable and easy to sleep in. The design, decor and the building its self was very modern. The location was good too. And they have a friendly staff. The only draw back is that they charge you to use the internet in their business office, so bring your laptop because they have free wifi.
