You Get What You Pay For...

Most high end place on the entire island. They pamper you to the point you don't want to leave, but is a more of a manicured version of Vieques than the rugged experience you might find elsewhere. For sure this place was 100% as advertised though and you wont be disappointed!

Nightlife tip: In Hotel

Late night cocktails at the W are a little pricey but worth it, as many other places close early. Also, it's probably not worth it to rent a car if staying here as the cabs generally cost around $5 per person to go anywhere.

Horrible reservation cancellation/change service

The day I was heading to Vieques the ferry service was out completely. I called the hotel telling them the situation. They said they would not refund the $300 I had already paid nor would they allow me to change nights. Their apparent reason was that I could go and get a plane ticket to the island and still make my reservation. While that might have been true, it didn't work with my situation. A good hotel would have been more flexible being aware that I may have wanted to stay there at a future date given that my Viques trip was cancelled. Certainly won't be staying there when I do eventually get there.

Amazing luxury resort

The W Vieques is a really amazing place. The hotel is luxurious, the views are incredible, the staff is great, and the amenities are phenomenal. You can borrow snorkels and kayaks from the hotel, book tours on site, and the staff even helped us get a rental car so that we could explore the town. We'll be back next year for sure!

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

The staff recommended that we go to dinner in the town of Esperanza. Every restaurant there seemed to be an MTV-Spring-Break-style dump: loud music, cheap drinks, and bad food. If that's your thing, have at it. If not, ask for another recommendation.

Good but a tad expensive !!!

The resort is great... The staff really good... But the restaurant is expensive and there is not much choice... However, I think W is only trusted option in Vieques..

Great Couples Retreat

We just returned from the W Hotel in Vieques and overall we had a lovely time. The hotel is very nice, the food was pretty good, the staff was very friendly, and the pools and beaches were great. Vieques is a beautiful island and there are wild horses everywhere, which we thought was neat. While the W beach was very nice, the beaches on the Carribbean side of the island are much better. Also, Vieques is a small island without a lot going on. The two "main towns" are small (you could see all of Esperanza in about 10 minutes; Isabel II is a bit bigger, but not really much to see). The W is a typical resort with all that is good and bad. Very clean and nice, great pools. The gym was nice and very good by hotel standards, but needed more air conditioning and did not have free weights (other than a dumbell rack). Also, you have to numb yourself to the exorbitant fees. Just like airlines with their checked baggage fees, there was about a $65 a day "resort fee." While the hotel gives you a little card trying to explain the "value" behind the fee (e.g, you get "free" coffee, "free" wifi, and a "free" ride to the airport, which is less than 10 minutes away), this is just a way to increase the room rate. (If you stay 5 nights, you pay $325, which buys a lot of coffee, wifi, and airport transfers if charged separately). I was also a bit shell shocked when I was charged over $50 for two drinks delivered to the (non-main) pool. But if (as they hope) you simply accept that this is the price to pay for staying at any very nice resort, then the W is a great choice.

Short on the W brand

Although a gorgeous location, amazing grounds, and very comfortable room decor, the W Hotel in Vieques Puerto Rico was short on meeting their quality expectations. Given a Fabulous Oceanfront Escape room described as "quiet" we were kept up late into the evening by two wedding receptions on two separate nights within 50 ft of our room. One event went until 2:30 AM with live music and fireworks; not exactly relaxing or quiet. The maid service was spotty; one time coming to our room at 5:30 PM which was unworkable. The food was less than average with uninspiring menus and many ingredients such as vegetables and fruits clearly imported from the mainland lacking in flavor. Accessible only by taxi, the food at other restaurants on the island was far superior and a much better value. Although we didn't watch a lot of TV, over a third of all the cable stations (e.g., Bravo!, BBC, Travel, Discovery, TBS, etc...) were over-riden by the same looped infomercial for hours. Finally, most of the staff were very courteous but when I requested a coffee maker for my room (a feature supposedly available) I had to ask four times before someone ever replied with an honest answer that none were. available.

The Next Course was fantastic. Very fresh and locally grown ingredients and awe-inspiring flavors that integrate Puerto Rican flavors and international styles.

needs a lot of work

This place is at a fantastic spot on Vieques. Location is prime. Rooms are nice but decor is bizarre and not very functional. Chairs are huge flat steel things that are not very conducive to sitting in. The food is below average and phenominally expensive. Lunch will easily crest $100 for two people. The staff is nice but management is lacking. You may wait over 30 minutes to see a staff member at the concierge desk at a prime time of day. They have a "wherever/whenever" button on the telephone which twice went unanswered during our stay. They have nice covered beds by the pool and a sunny morning at 10AM there was still dirty sheets and trash in many of those spaces. A garbage can overflowing with trash was not emptied from 8AM until after 2:30 when we left the pool area. The inclusive fee is quite high at $60 poer day for amenities that should be included for nothing. The place does very little well and needs some serious guidance to warrant $680 per night.

Birthday Celebration

My sister her son, me and my son decided to go to Vieques for my birthday. We were hopping for a nice relaxing time where we could enjoy the sun, the beach and have fun. It turned out to be the Pefect Selection! We enjoyed everything... beatiful sorroundings, smoothing pool, confortable all over the place, nice and attentive staff. The only thing missing was a real good café... anyway, We'll be back!!!!

Whatever, Whenever.

Stayed at the W Vieques for our honeymoon and couldn't have asked for a better experience. The staff was extremely welcoming and always able to answer questions and meet needs. Edward in the sports shop is fantastic and made great recommendations for things to do off the resort grounds. miX on the beach has an amazing, yet simple local menu, and excellent service. The resort grounds are fantastic, the pool is gorgeous, and the beaches are quiet, private and perfectly placed on the Atlantic side of the island. Don't let the price tag scare you away, because the experience is worth every dollar spent. Yes, it's a W, and no, it won't be cheap, but you will be very pleased should choose to visit this resort.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

Spend at least one day off the resort and rent a Jeep to explore the island. There is a rental facility on site, but you can rent the same vehicles significantly cheaper at Island car rental, which is a short walk from the hotel.
