The Ritz!

This was my first time staying at a Ritz-Carlton and was I ever impressed! Attentive service, fine appointments and clean rooms were the hallmarks. The pool and beach areas were wonderful, too. Make no mistake -- this is an expensive hotel, but I felt I got my money's worth.

The best trip EVER!

The trip was amazing! We spent five awesome days there and we didn't want to go home just yet. The staff was incredible and VERY kind. They just made you feel like the hotel was home at all times. Normally I don't like staying in a hotel for a long period of time, but I couldn't get enough of the beautiful view & staff daily! The room was very clean and although we didn't have a room with a balcony, we had a wonderful view of the pool and beach thanks to Elliott! I feel like everyone there is one of those favorite family members you just can't wait until the next time you see them! Lol! I thought I was spoiled before, but they just made it worse! Thanks to the entire staff at the Ritz Carlton San Juan! I'll be seeing you again real soon!

Great Quick Getaway

The hotel was very nice; however, it had a lingering sour smell in the lobby near the elevators but the rooms were impeccably clean. The breakfast was ok so we decided to eat elsewhere for the rest of the trip. In addition, the beach access is locked at night which was not completely happy with but overall it was well worth the money.

Mi Casitas across from the El Presidente hotel was the best food ever. The Monfongo with Shrimp was to die for. What it lacks in ambiance it more than makes up for in cuisine. You must visit if you are in San Juan.

Disappointed that my reservation was not right!

I reserved a disabled hotel room with 2 double beds and there was none available when we got to the hotel. I ended up having to help my mother into and out of the tub everyday while she showered as the bench that was provided did not look very sanitary to be using and she is disabled. When I asked for a discount for our troubles I was told that none was available since I prepaid for the week but there were over $300 of additional, unexpected charges on my final bill. The 2 days of breakfast that was supposed to be discounted because of the trouble was on the bill and I was not told that I would be billed a resort fee or what was included in the resort fee until I was checking out. Had I known what was included I would have used the services instead of feeling like I got robbed. I didn't know that I could use the gym and attend the classes as part of the fee since I was being charged $22 a day for them anyway. No one seemed to really care about all of the problems that we'd had or the dissatisfaction that I felt.

San Juan Ritz

The location feels a bit rough. If the hotel were not a Ritz I do not think that I would have stayed in this location. I woulD not return to this location because the surroundings are run-down and the resort is small. A better bet is to stay in Old San Juan or in a more remote location with more amenities. Resort fee of $20-40 per day does not offer a value.

Excellent Escape!

This hotel was by far the best hotel my husband and I ever stayed at! We have traveled to many places and stayed in 5 star hotels including Disney's Grand Floridian and this topped them all! We can't wait to go back!

GREAT PROPERTY, BETTER STAFF! 25th Anniversary trip

As a former Food & Beverage Director and Executive Chef in 4 & 5 star hotels, I am very much a details oriented guy. Everything about the Ritz was stellar with a few small exceptions that most folks wouldn't even notice. The good first: The property grounds were immaculent, manicured and beautiful. The staff was SO over-the-top good at what they do, they were amazing; from check in, to unusual requests, they responded with lightning speed. Rebecca Marquez in Guest Relations was an outstanding example of professionalism and personality. The same goes for Sherelly, our Lobby Bartender and "excursion" expert. They both make us want to go back just to see them again! Steven Vazquez, the Matre 'D at IlMulino Itialian Restaurant on property, made sure that our Anniversary dinner was an absolutely spectacular dining experience from the moment we walked through the door. I could not have cooked a more perfect meal myself...and I'm PRETTY GOOD! The beach and pool areas were well-kept by what seemed like an army of staff at all times. Ben Afflack was staying at the hotel shooting a movie while we were there. My wife was drooling..... An untrained eye would think it was perfect...and it ALMOST was. Now the small things to work on... The pool was slightly cloudy one day, probably due to the salt/sand driven in by the wind off the beach...no big deal, up the chlorine a bit on those windy days. One server "Omar", at the poolside restaurant was not up to the level of service Ritz/Marriott expects of its staff...re-train the guy, or get rid of him. TV channel selection in our room was not as good as it should be in a 5 star property. The hotel was located directly across the street from the airport, so if you were outside, the jets could get annoying at times if the wind was blowing just right. Overall, this was a great experience, we will be back many times to come. Be warned though, expect to pay 5-star prices when you're staying in a 5-star hotel....nothing is "economical" at The Ritz, but if you want to be blown away by customer service...this is the right place for you!

Eat at the Metropol across the street for local cuisine. 101 sports bar for cheap bar food that was decent.
