Easy Weekend Getaway

The hotel offers an affordable deal for an easy getaway to some summer fun in the miserable months of winter/spring. It is not quite as "comfortable" and snazzy as some of the other Ritz Carlton properties out there for sure, but it's fair enough. The staff is very accommodating and friendly and the facility is maintained well. It's a ten minute ride to the airport and the beach at the hotel is nice. The food sold at the hotel pool and the breakfast buffet are, as is common, overpriced and pretty bad. BLT steak is a good restaurant to visit while you're staying there.

Romantic getaway

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful stay at the Ritz Carlton.. The staff was great. They recommended the restaurant across the street Metropolitan and the food was great. The room was great the bed was extremely comfortable. We didn't order anything off the pricey room service menu.. Plenty of restaurants on the street (walking distance). We also had a great time at the hotel down the street, El San Juan. We rented a car just to tour the city really want didnt need to. But old san juan is a must just to site see.

OK, but not Great

The hotel did a great job providing entertainment and diversions for kids during Spring Break. However, they were greatly understaffed. For at least 150-200 around the pool, there were only 3-4 waiters at best, although I usually saw 2 and had to run after them. The beach is muddy sand, and strangely had no seagulls, only pigeons. I only say this because it's more a city beach hotel than the secluded Puerto Rico or Caribbean experience. Next trip, I would try the St Regis Bahia. This one is 7 min from the airport and the neighboring hotels and places to eat were rather run down. Not worth staying in San Juan unless you're on business there. Also, Double rooms had small beds, not Queen-sized. It's a small Ritz Carlton property compared to other locations.

Great beach location

I checked in during the Easter brunch period therefore it was a little hectic in the lobby. The check in staff were wonderful and check in was great. The beach attendant , Pablo, was excellent he remembered my name and my preference and ensured I did not want for anything. The location is great if your main preference is the beach and not old san Juan. The property was beautiful and I would definitely return. Thanks for a great vacation.

Great experience

Stayed here for a few days with sister and niece. Service from staff was exemplary! Rooms were lovely and comfortable. Room service prompt and efficient. Check in and concierge services very friendly and helpful. Lovely property and easy to access cabs/drivers to get around. The ONLY thing is that sometimes waitstaff in lounge and on beach get bombarded around the middle of the day, so you have to wait longer than usual for them and they sometimes forget you had asked for something from them. But nothing egregious....

Great place to relax by the beach

Hotel facility is very nice. Rooms are clean and well-maintained. Prices for on-site restaurants are extremely high (thirty bucks for buffet breakfast in the most basic of the restaurants offered.) If you plan to go into Old San Juan, which we did, know that it is a $25 cab ride each way. Staff was very helpful and friendly. All in all, a pleasant place to stay and get away from busy life.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

If you want to save a fortune on breakfast, walk out the door of the hotel and take a right - several restaurants that way. Also a Walgreens, where you can find a greater selection and much better prices for things like sunscreen, personal supplies, etc., than in the hotel store.
