A hotel with a Nightclub feel

Would not recommend Sun, Mar 30, 2008
The Condado Plaza Hotel and Casino was a mixed bag. We were greeted by the staff at 8:30 PM with a big smile, but the only problem was that our room was not yet ready. It was 8:30 PM, what's the deal with that? We in turn received a coupon for dinner in the hotel Italian resturant (Italian in Puerto Rico?), so needless to say, our night was in el bano. Outside the tardy room delivery (10:30 PM), the hotel felt like a night club with bumping music throughout the lobby which overlooks a spectacular view. The pool is solid with solid service. Not a place for families, but for the singles. All in all, a mixed bag.

This hotel was exceptionally nice. Everything about it was great. The room was spacious and decorated well. The views from the room were beautiful. The Casino was very nice. and the restauraunts had good food. The only negative was the drinks at the pool area were a little pricey.

The Hotel is under some ...

Would not recommend Sat, Dec 1, 2007
The Hotel is under some form of renovation and all but one of the resturants are closed. The check in counter is composed of three podiums and is not in the Hotel lobby. All other amenities, pool and spa etc.,are also closed. Our overall experience with this Hotel was very negative. I have never been treated so poorly in a Hotel property in my entire travels. I will not only not recommend this Hotel to family and friends but wil go to lengths to se that anyone I know does not stay there.

Not your beach vacation

Would not recommend Mon, Sep 3, 2007
This place says it is newly renovated although it is still under construction. The Condado boast beach access & numerous resturants. Although the beach is less than 2 miles in width and is open to the public. Also nothing in the hotel is open past 10 o'clock, so when we got there at 11 we were told to a walk down to a conveince store for food. The majority of this entire street is under construction leaving it feeling dirty. The check in area is actually two podiums set up side by side with two telephones and a box for reservations. The common areas through out the hotel still had plastic in certain areas. We were put on the lagoon side of the hotel in which the rooms have been upgrades but the elevators and hallways had not. In addition to the tiny room the thermastat only had one temperate(frozen) and there was mold on the bathroom ceiling. We thought to simply change room although upon asking twice to be given a better room we recieved no answer back from the front desk We left the hotel the very next morning.

While we were very pleased with the hotel, the location, the room and the staff we had to wait over 15 minutes to check out with one person on duty.

Nightlife hint

Old San Juan never sleeps. If you're staying on the weekend, Friday and Saturday night you can find several excellent restaurants on Calle De Forteleza (street) as well as live music in charming off street night clubs and bars tucked away on cobblestoned, side streets.

my disappointing vacation

Would not recommend Wed, Aug 22, 2007
I have stayed at this hotal before and have always been satisfied. Unfortunately, it is under major renovations! Had to park and check in across the street. Then cross over to our hotel. There was only one restaurant to choose from. No stores, no music as in the past!!! No lobby! Then, when we went down to the pool, we were told we couldn't use it because of some private function. Imagine, you pay for the use of the pool and you can't use it!!! That same day, we then decided to go to the beach and sit on the beach chairs. Ten minutes later, they were taken from us because of the private function that was going on. I am very disappointed in this hotel. I don't think I will ever stay there again. We paid a lot of money for our stay and it was not worth it. We were short-changed!!!

Clean Room

Would recommend Mon, Aug 20, 2007
I was very pleased with the room but please dont order room service because they charge you will tax on top of tax.... too much tax involved so your best bet is to go downstairs and eat. The hotel check-in were ok

Shopping hint

If u like Gucci and Prada and etc... but if you want to go to Old San Juan you have to take a cab which is about 15 one way

Nice Hotel

Would recommend Sun, Aug 19, 2007
My visit to The Condado Plaza Hotel & Casino, SAN JUAN in August 2007 was very enjoyable. The hotel is very comfortable and conveniently located to most attractions and walking distance to many restaurants. I loved the style of the bathroom. At the time of my stay the hotel was undergoing renovation and should even more attractive when completed.I would definately recommend this hotel.

Dining

Make sure you visit the Plaza of the Americas.

Lack of comfort

Would not recommend Mon, Aug 13, 2007
The Condado Plaza hotel was very uncomfortable, too much construction and distractions... too much noise. My first day I loss power to my room many times. The concierge appeared distracted, was not attentive to my questions. (lack of care/customer service). Beach area too small, unatractive. Room view was disappointing. Check out took a long time. I will not stay at this facility in the future, and will not recommend it to anyone else.

NOT family friendly-Would not recommend

Would not recommend Sat, Aug 11, 2007
The hotel is undergoing renovations and perhaps that's the reason for my dissatisfaction. I arrived at 11:30 and I had to wait until 2:30 p.m. to get a room and then another 1 and 1/2 hours to get my luggage brought up - They would be smart to offer a complimentary drink by the pool (which btw is beautiful) while you wait, but this was not done. The shower is not properly sealed and everytime it's used you have to use towels all around the outer shower to prevent flooding the floor and possible slipping. The bed was very, very soft - not comfortable. The in-room movie rental is not available yet. The hotel has 2 restaurants (Tony Roma - DON't EAT THERE food was terrible) and an Italian restaurant which we eat breakfast every morning (the food was good and the service was excellent, though a bit overpriced). There is absolutely nothing in the immediate area, just a couple of restaurants - nothing else. The private beach is really a lagoon/bay, which is off a public street and therefore opened to the public. Last, but not least on 8/10 late afternoon housekeeping informed us that our room had not been cleaned because the hotel had us as checking out. This ofcourse was their computer glitch and was straightened out after several phone calls and going to the front desk in person. Again, only an apology was offered. I would not recommend this hotel to families, especially with your children - they'll be very bored.

Dining

There is nothing nearby - Starbucks, Chili's and a couple of local restaurants - food was not good at all.
