Nice Hotel
It was a very nice hotel BUT not on beach how it seemed to be. Plus, pool was small. We didn't get a room with the bay area even though that is what we asked for. After complaining we got switched to a partial bay area room. Not in San Juan how address states, it is located in Old San Juan. Staff not too friendly.

Sightseeing tip:
Short walk from hotel
It seems to be that all the nice attractions are in Old San Juan but the beach is at a driving distance. So you either get attractions and activities or the beach. Nice area to realx in. I have to say it is the most touristic town and best maintained.

Overpriced, decent rooms, great location
It is a nice hotel with a casino. I booked this hotel because it said it was within walking distance of the cruise port. It was, but not my ship. It was a five minute, $16 cab ride. I was excited to lay by the pool with the great view. It was closed for repairs. The gym was small, but usable. The room was nice, but not worth the price. The staff was friendly and the location was great!

Money-saving tip:
Not Applicable
There is a free trolley, one block from the hotel that will take you to all the important points in Old San Juan. However, the locals use it to get around too, so it is often overcrowed.

Great location, but nothing special
Where to begin? An interior view room with a wet carpet and fraying towels start the list of disappointments with this property. The staff was curt and insincere and housekeeping inconsistent (if your room has three unwrapped glasses and one wrapped what are you supposed to think about the unwrapped glasses??)

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
Aqua Viva offered one of the VERY best meals we had (among many excellent meals). Parrot Club, Cana, Bombonera as well as Aqua Viva, DragonFly and a host of other great restaurants are all within a short walk from this property.

Great Hotel for Carnival Cruisers
The room was tiny and the window only had a view of the back alley of the hotel. It was a great location for walking through Old San Juan. I felt a little tricked that we still had to take a taxi over to the Royal Caribbean dock, it is within walking distance of the Carnival dock.

Perfect Location
The Sheraton is located perfectly, if you are planning to spend an ample time walking around the old San Juan area. Both the FORTS are walking from this place and if you need a cab, they are right outside the Hotel. The Hotel faces the Pier which again gives a great view to all the cruise ships that dock right in front of this place. And if you want to take a public bus service, thats a couple of blocks away.

sneaky staff
We first got a room with moldy smell, a broken phone and a broken safe. The small window looks directly into a parking structure. I called front desk and they sent a security to make sure things weren't working, and then moved us to a functioning room. It makes me wonder whether the front desk knows about all the broken stuff and just wants to put someone who would not complain there. Upon checking out, I asked the bellman how much a cab should be to the airport--cabs in San Juan uses flat pricing based on zones--but the bellman refused to answer while saying the fee structure was complex based on the number of baggages and distance... I tried again and the 2nd bellman gave me a simple answer of $22.

Better than expected
Based on some of the reviews I read I was a little worried but picked the hotel for the location near the cruise piers and Old San Juan. It is right on the docks but most of the big ships, ours incuded did not dock here but a $15 cab ride away. Not really that big a deal just a little misleading based on the info online. Our room was great with a view of the dock we felt very secure and comfortable. You can easily walk to wherever you want to go in old town, including one of the forts. We took a free trolly to the fort and after finally getting there realized that it is about a 3 block walk. All kinds of great shopping and food opportuities in old town and the hotel staff reccomendations for dining were spot on. The one thing that surprised us was the lack of live music on a Friday night, I expected more.

okay
hotel staff was very helpful, but for the price the suite was small and very outdated. We stayed at the Doubletree and for half price the rooms were very modern and clean and except for the location very superior to the Sheraton. The Sheraton only has one elevator and checkout is awful though not the staffs fault. Also for the price you would at least expect a continental breakfast....guess again..not..
