Buyer beware

Although we had booked and paid for a bay view room, the hotel assigned us an inside room with a view of the air shaft.[...]Only after pressing the issue and asking to speak to a manager, did we finally get the correct room type.I got the impression that they were attempting to switch rooms so they could sell them to someone else at a higher rate.It is a fine hotel in a good location and a great view of the harbor. I would recommend it to anyone, however, beware of questionable practices by the front desk.

Great olace to stay

The only fault I would find with this hotel was the training of the waiter in the 2nd floor dining room. He was very dilligent but haden't a clue as to what was a proper way to serve. There was no salt or pepper on the table, you had to ask for a water refil, the table was bare and we asked for a place mat, and considering the price charged there should have been more than a McDonalds atmosphere.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

Investigate, using the internet, what the trolly routes are and make yourself a map. The literature available is great once you have used the trolly and understand the system. (Takes about 1/2 day)

Great hotel!

This is a great hotel! Everyone was very friendly and helpful, the room was gorgeous with a great view out over the bay, and the location in Old San Juan can't be beat. There is also a casino, two restaurants (one of which could be better; the other was great), and a rooftop swimming pool. It's a great place to stay.

Average

Did not like room location, they gave us a room facing the parking structure when the hotel did not have that many guests, it was clean but was not impressed with anything in particular

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Visit the Ochoa building located blocks away with all the questions you have about how to move around in Old San Juan, they will not give you much information on anything if you don't ask specific questions AND ask more than one person!

Old San Juan Embarkation To Caribbean

Eventhough the hotel has pictures of the cruise ships, ours was across the bay and a $20 cab ride. Some are located across from the hotel. We arrived late and had very few choices for dinner. It was either catch a cab in heavy traffic or walk to the local stands a few blocks away. We took the stroll. The hotel was clean and quite and okay for what we needed.

Convenient location

Our stay at the Sheraton Old San Juan Hotel proved to be the perfect climax to our 7-day Southeran Caribbean cruise. The superb setting near Old San Juan made exploring the surrounding area on foot a breeze. In addition, the staff was most cordial and helpful. We'll be back!

Sheraton Old San Juan Hotel

We went to Puerto Rico on business. We left the hotel at around 8 am and returned at around 9 pm. The Palio restaurant morning crew were absolutely wonderful. They were very courteous, and as far as the buffet they offered, it was really good. Sadly, the front desk staff need to work on being more attentive and learn how to give better customer service. The house keeping crew kept the room clean, however, they took the dirty towels but forgot to leave clean ones. I would rate them average. The valet parking crew was also average. Other than the outstanding Palio crew, don't expect exceptional service from the rest of the hotel staff. The bed was extremely comfortable.

Awesome experience

It was great, the things that I didnt like was that they charged a service fee when I checked out which they never mentioned. if it would have included breakfast it would have been even better.
