Ruined by Hurricane Irene
No matter how great the hotel is, when there isn't power that ruins the trip. Can't really judge it based on a hotel without power.

Not what I wanted or expected!
For the cost, I couldn't believe the room didn't even have a microwave let alone a small fridgerator! Also the room was very damp, literally, u could feel the mugginess and the windows do not open so you're trapped with all the discusting moisture. Oh and the pillows stunk like old wet pillows, better yet, an old wet dog! I was severly disappointed! The pool was nice though I never used it. Looking back I can't believe I had to experience that!

Great weekend getaway
The hotel is located right in Old San Juan so everything is within walking distance in the historical district. The staff was very friendly. The room was very clean, roomy and comfortable. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were great. Across from the hotel is the ferry that you can take for 50 cents per person. It takes you to Catano where you can board a public van for $3 per person to go to Bacardi Distillery. Also go to Loiza to eat seafood and drink coconut water by the beach - is not fancy but it's a great eating experience. To the right of the hotel there is a CVS Pharmacy in case you need something. The view of the bay from the hotel is very beautiful

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
The restaurants and historical district are located behind the hotel's parking garage. Lots of great places to eat. For breakfast try "Mallorca" very reasonable. For dinner try "Raices" excellent typical Puerto Rican food.

Short walk from hotel
La Bombonera on San Francisco is fantastic for breakfast. Also, if you are on a budget, turn right out of the hotel and walk toward the paseo de la princesa - The street vendor food is exceptional and will not break the bank. Try a tripleta or some alcapurias. Yum.

Decent Hotel
The hotel was average, however the location was great. Walking distance from the tourist attractions in Old San Juan. The hotel was not located near the beach. Overall pretty good stay.

Great location for pedestrians
I loved the hotel's convenient location. As a local, the tricky part is parking. Since there is no parking owned by the hotel, we spent a long time looking for a place to park where they wouldn't give me a ticket or have it towed. Also, their pillows were so uncomfortable. I had a neckache/backache all stay. Other than that, A+.

Met every expectation despite hurricane Irene.
Because of the location, it was very easy to wander through Old San Juan and explore every inch. It would have been better if there was a swimmable beach nearby. We had to take a $17 cab ride to Santurce just to find a beach. The staff was courteous and friendly. The room was very nice and the bed extremely comfy. If Old San Juan is what you're looking for, I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Short Getaway
Overall the experience was ok. I visit San Juan about twice a year. So I have experienced various hotels. Old Sheraton San Juan Hotel is located right in the heart of viejo San juan which is great!! Makes it easy to walk through old san juan, plenty of restaurants and sights to see. It saves money on the cabs. Very convenient location, but the hotel itself is pretty outdated. The pool is on the roof and has no snack bar. So you can't order any drinks or snacks, not to mention the bathroom was out of order which was inconvenient because it meant we had to go from the 9th floor rooftop pool down to our room on the 5th floor if any of us needed to use the bathroom. The room itself was musty. Had a smell to it that wouldn't go away even after housekeeping would come to clean. So overall, as I mentioned the hotel was ok. It definitely needs some updating.

Waiting for a Cruise
This hotel is perfect if you are boarding a Cruise ship in San Juan! The people were extremely helpful, the rooms were immaculate, and they even held our bags until we were ready to board the ship (after check-out at 11). We would definitely stay here again if we take another vacation to San Juan!
