great location-smells weird
Perfect location- walk all over Old Town, but many of the rooms smell weird- I don't think it's mold, because it didn't affect our asthma. House keeping staff has air spray that helps. Windows don't open to help air out the place. Rooms with outdoor varandas are the way to go. Worth staying 2 or 3 nights but not more.

Great getaway
Location is great, right across the street from the cruise ships! When we arrived we were upgraded to a bay view room, no additional charge. Staff was extremely helpful & friendly, especially Tina from concierge. The hotel is about 20 minutes away from Isle Verde beach, there is a lot to do at that beach-jet skiing, parasailing, you can rent beach chairs for $4 & umbrella’s for $10. A lot of restaurants around the corner from the hotel, where the meals are much cheaper than the hotel. Bring your sneakers, you will want to walk around the city of Old San Juan it’s beautiful.

One major problem with us and many others that stayed at the hotel was the Sheraton room key system. You would have to slide it at least twice sometimes 3 times to get into your room. Three times the key would not work at all so we had to go to the main desk and have it remade. Also, in order to go up or down to other floors in their elevators you need to slide your key. This is, of course, for security purposes. Again - we had to slide it at least 2 -3 times and sometimes if it did not work right away and if you were trying to go up, it would take you down to the lobby and you would have to rekey and go back up to your desired floor. We also had a problem obtaining wash cloths for our room. Three times we had to call and ask that the room be cleaned. This was at 5:00 pm and certainly the room should have been clean by then.

Good Hotel
My wife and I spent the first five nights of our honeymoon here at the Sheraton Old San Juan. At first I was upset that we weren't near any beaches. But we taxied to nearby Isla Verde beach for 20 bucks and it was beautiful. In hindsight, I'm glad we were in Old San Juan. It gave us the opportunity to walk around in the morning and eat breakfast at local coffee shops and walk around at night to enjoy the culture. If you want a resort to relax on the beach, look elsewhere. But this was a perfect staging ground for a few excursions. They pick you right up at the lobby! The hotel itself was very nice and clean. Nothing spectacular or wow-ing, but I'm glad we had a clean and contemporary hotel with the classic amenities and touches one should expect. The only complaint I have is that they dropped the ball a few times on towels. Twice they forgot to stock our room with fresh towels. I actually had to call three times the first time to get towlel and twice the second time to get towls. But then agian, this is aPuerto Rico and neverything is slow. You just have to learn to enjoy it!
