(Formerly The Water Club). A refreshing alternative to large chain resorts; the San Juan Water and Beach Club Hotel is the only beachfront boutique hotel in the Caribbean's liveliest city. The 78-room boutique hotel is 5 minutes from the airport, and 15 minutes from old San Juan.
Chic, Hip in Puerto Rico's Posh Isla Verde
A refreshing splash from traditional resorts, the San Juan Water & Beach Club Hotel epitomizes the allure of the Latin culture. It is San Juan Puerto Rico's only boutique hotel on the beach, 15 minutes from Old San Juan and only five minutes away from the airport in posh Isla Verde.
A one-of-a-kind environment provides memorable surprises for even the most sophisticated travelers. Ocean Front, Partial Ocean View and Deluxe rooms are available, depending on each guests' preference, with fully-renovated bathrooms and floors. Theatrical lighting brings the outdoors indoors; elevators have waterfalls (behind glass); corridor sounds are gentle surf. The chic elegance is a perfect setting for a little romance.
The sensuous main bar H2O is San Juan's trend-setter hangout and a mecca for celebrities. The open-air rooftop lounge Wet offers dazzling views of ocean and city. Tangerine Restaurant has been repeatedly named among the world's best. And our superb staff is always friendly.
The San Juan Water & Beach Club Hotel was named Puerto Rico's top boutique hotel by the 2006 World Travel Awards, but our rates are surprisingly modest. Ideal for pleasure, business or both, there is a lot to do nearby, with convenient access to the best restaurants, shopping, museums, nightlife, and most importantly a location on the best beach - still bordered with palms - in San Juan.
It's a lot to live up to, but the 78-room San Juan Water & Beach Club Hotel is up to the task. An Art Deco-style hotel, with sleek contemporary design, the hotel is the ideal emissary for the 'Island of Enchantment.' San Juan is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the Caribbean, where trend-setting style and chic sophistication are the norm. It's no wonder that the San Juan Water & Beach Club Hotel, with its award-winning dining and contemporary decor, is one of the most sought-after addresses on the island.
From the moment you enter, the San Juan Water & Beach Club Hotel will delight you. Our elevator cabs have walls that are waterfalls (behind glass) - a first in hotels. In guest room corridors, you'll enjoy the sound of gently rolling surf as you walk on neatly piled pebble paths (cleverly photographed on floor tiles).
With rooftop chaise lounges for lazy afternoons under the sun and telescopes in suites for some serious star gazing, the San Juan Water & Beach Club Hotel knows that the key to an enjoyable stay is in the details that boutique hotels are famous for.
Ideal for pleasure, business or both, there is a lot to do nearby, with convenient access to the best restaurants, nightlife, shopping and museums, and most importantly on the best beach - still bordered with palms - in San Juan.
Many of Puerto Rico's best museums are close by, as are historical sites offering a glimpse into Old San Juan's past. Walking tours of Old San Juan, museum and gallery tours, hiking in the mountains, water sports, shopping and more are all easily accessed from The San Juan Water & Beach Club Hotel.

I thought this hotel was perfect for our stay in San Juan, I also left a review on another travel site as that site made me ... nervous about booking at this location, HOWEVER this hotel could not have been any more perfect. I highly reccomend the ocean front room, it is worth the money for the gorgeous view and the ability to open the sliding glass doors and hear the waves all night long! The rooftop lounge and bar were great, the beach and free chairs/umbrella/towels were a nice touch. My husband and I would stay again and hopefully we will!

Really really trendy, amazing holidays
Fiona K. Nov 27, 2009
Usually what you pay is what you get, but as far as this hotel goes, I feel I paid little for what I got. My boyfriend and I ... went to Puerto Rico just for four nights to relax - we wanted a hotel by the beach so that we could hop in and out the sea as frequently as we wanted. Although we ended up hiking/swimming/ walking half the island in 3 days and we did not use the beach that much, I still maintain that this hotel is a perfect relaxation spot. The hotel overall is water themed, very trendily decorated. The rooms are all fitted with blue lighting which you can turn on if you feel like an unusual experience. The room we had was excellent, with small minus points. The AC was very loud for my taste (but also very cold) and the shower lacked (by design) a door that closed all the way. Also, there was no wireless internet in the room (in contrast to what was advertised). We called the front desk to inquire, and next morning there was a cable in our room, so the problem was almost immediately solved. Apart from the issues above, everything else was close to perfect. One of the best things of this hotel is the rooftop bar and (tiny) pool. Sometimes they have afternoon wine and beer happy hour. You can drink your cocktails by the pool, or even better inside it, with spectacular views of the ocean. It is really really really worth it. The staff is super friendly, professional and helpful. As far as the location, yes, as I said, it is right next to the beach, (very warm water) and very close (2-3 km) to a really pretty (and not touristy) bike path around a mangrove lagoon on the east. To summarize, this is an excellent hotel if you are visiting puerto rico and want a hotel that though not a 'resort type hotel', will be pleasant enough for you to want to spend some time in. I would whole heartedly recommend it for couples, but not so much for families.

Good Location, A Few Things to Consider
Caribbean Traveler Nov 17, 2009
My wife and I took a short vacation to San Juan. We wanted to find a reasonably priced hotel in a great location. The San ... Juan Water and Beach Club Hotel is difficult to find (even our GPS didn't recognize the location) but great beachfront property, so who cares. Great location for early morning walks on the beach. The service was exceptional. Very friendly and accommodating at the front desk. We were a little suprised by the steep price for parking (your only option is valet) which is one of those "hidden costs" - parking on the street wasn't much of an option. The area is well patroled by the policia, which is encouraging and made us a little less apprehensive of crime. Our room was very small, and the windows which could have had an amazing view of the Atlantic were very dirty and very difficult to see out of. There wasn't a shower door which left you with water all over the bathroom every morning/night - which became pretty annoying in short order. You couldn't adjust the shower head to your height in our room which only added to the frustration. While our room was small, and the headboard to our bed broken (you can buy lollipop condoms in the room - perhaps they sold too many) the rooms and the hotel for that matter was unique. Walls and rooms were accentuated with blue lights - which had an effect similar to a black light - which was pretty neat. However, all in all, we've ranked the SJW&BH 3 stars. Good service, great food, supurb location made up for the few negatives.

This hotel was amazing. I traveled with with of one my girlfriends and stayed for 4 nights. Location was great and the hotel ... was right on a gorgeous beach. Close to other attractions, resturants, and nighclubs. I have never had such wonderful, accomodating hotel staff. They opened doors, provided beach chairs, towels, even made me a cake on my birthday! Staff were helpful in information about the area and booking excursions. Hotel was clean and a very neat atmosphere. Definetly stay at this hotel! Best in the area! My husband and I went down for Columbus Day weekend. We had great time due to this hotel. It was perfectly located in the ... middle of Isla Verde beach. We walked everywhere from here. The El San Juan Casino and its fab restaurants were just a 5 minute walk from here, as were the jet skis and other water activities. It was only a 10 minute ride from the airport and 10 minutes to Old San Juan by taxi (there were always taxis waiting in front of the hotel)The service was outstanding and they really made a wonderful impression with their kindness and attentiveness, from the front desk all the way out to [...] who provided the beach towels, chairs, and umbrellas-all complimentary of the hotel. The rooftop bar was amazing. Very chic and had a 360 dgree view-simply breathtaking. Saturday night they had a party, where the music got kind of loud, but we enjoyed it.We are definitely staying here again, we loved it!

I went on this trip by myself to unwind from the everyday stress of life and San Juan Water and Beach Club Hotel help me do ... just that!!!![...] were diligent in helping me book action pack tours. I did rock climbing; zip line through the rain forest, rappelled down an 85ft waterfall, snorkeling at two different islands and last but not least kayaked a florescent bay.
