Be aware of Hidden fees!

We payed non-refundable price of 85.39$ online for a room with two beds. When we came to the the hotel we were asked to pay extra 35$. The manager claimed that we did reservation for one person, not two (with two beds??). After some bargaining the extra charge was reduced to 5$. We finally got a room with one king size bed, not what we payed for initially! The worst thing is that the price of 85$ was non-refundable, so we could not turn our backs and go to another hotel. Conclusion: Hotel was OK. But hidden fees is a bad style! I would keep away from this place.

Cost effective + good location for beach

Appears to be well run by a caring owner, but horribly understaffed. One person trying to serve food while they check in guests. No breakfast available even at 8 am due to late staff. Continental breakfast is useless if you can't eat before you go to the airport. No shuttle bus. Locks on doors are a joke. No internet in rooms. Other than that, it was great!

Great option for the budget traveller

Nice, local hotel. If you're looking for a big modern hotel with all the frills and amenities, this is not the place for you. Found the staff to be friendly and helpful. Room was large and clean, though older vintage. It was a fair walking distance to shopping district, but if you're renting a car, it has plenty of parking on or near the premises. Overall pleased with the hotel considering the lower price.

it was ok!!

The Hotel was nice, some things in the rooms weren't as good as i would of liked, but it was a nice place. The only bad thing about the hotel its that you have to wait for the staff to open the front door every time you want to get in, what happen to me was that one night i went out and when i went back to the hotel, I was waiting outside for about 15 minutes because nobody was at the front desk. The staff its nice except for this guy that works night shift, not a very nice guy, but other than that everybody was nice, i only went to the hotel to sleep and that's it, spend most of time out.

Oceana "Pura Vida"

Very friendly and helpful, bilingual staff. Hotel one block from the ocean (clean, wide beach). Courtyard contains small but delightful pool. Very quiet--even at night. Continental breakfast adequate. Good family hotel, or for quiet couples. Restaurant is vegetarian with vegan selections, and you can eat by the pool. Public bus is also one block away (next to large drug store). Rooms are a little run down, but I only slept there, so that was OK. Small drawback--not very well known by taxi drivers, so carry their business card with you. I'll be back.

Well ... it's cheap anyway!

Although they highly praised their vegan food, it was terrible. But that was okay, for I'm not a vegetarian and there are plenty of restaurants around. Also, there was always a strange smell coming from the bar area; they never had the ceiling fans on in the main dining area, which would have been nice; and you had to dodge the big lamps hanging down over the tables in the back dining area in order to have a conversation--and here the fans were on, but no one sat there--go figure!! The rooms were just okay. Not very pleasant to be in (and it turned out we had more rainy days than sunny ones to deal with this trip), and it is amazing what just a little attention to them would have changed, like: repaint with a pleasant color other than drab gray and add a little art to the walls; have at least a soap dish in the shower, instead of having to use the floor or window seal; put the bathroom shelf on the wall next to the sink, rather than on the floor much lower than the sink, so there is some place other than the toilet top to place your toiletry bag, etc.; and make sure the floors are swept of the sand before new guests (us!) arrive. The pool garden area was never attended to during our stay of 1 week. It was always in need of a sweeping and the plants could have used some attention too. Water pressure was irregular too, as one friend was totally soaped up in the shower when the water stopped again and he had to wait awhile to rinse off. In general, this place has more the feeling of a student hostel rather than a real hotel. The sad thing is that it could be very, very nice, if there were just a little more attention to detail. But happily, it was cheap and 1 block from the beach, and fulfilled our budget needs

Some excellent inexpensive restaurants a block away on Loisa: 1 Greek; Yiyo (Puerto Rican--excellent!!); Bebo's (Puerto Rican--very good). And more places still in walking distance. Also, a couple very good but more expensive restaurants in local inns on the beach.

Not bad for the price

Hotel reception clerk was very friendly and attempted to meet every need. Not a bad deal for those that are going to be out during the day..... Close to local shopping and dining and two blocks from the beach. Easy access to all popular sites and tours.
