Fantastic for fun
We got an upgrade for free to the executive penthouse suite. WHAT A TREAT! The staff was great, the location was perfect, and the free rum punch was a highlight. We had a lot of fun at the casino, which offers low minimum bets for gambling. Our only complaint is that the bar prices around the pool are a bit steep and the free drink service at the casino is SLOW. Overall, this hotel is highly recommended!

The Argentinian Steakhouse, Ummo, was delicious and not too expensive. The Mexican restaurant, Tijuanas, was fabulous. All near by the hotel! Avoid Zucchero. Limited menu, slow service and overpriced everything.

great mini vacation
I arrived on a Saturday afternoon around 2PM and had a soda at the bar while waiting for my room. They had my room ready for me only about a half hour later, which was nice since check-in isn't until 4PM. The hotel lobby bar is great, I used the small gym and sauna, and had a very good late night room service hamburger one night. It's great being right on the beach and my "partial view" room was really a great sideways view of the ocean. Close to a lot of eating places too. There was a sound outside my room every 20 minutes or so sounding like an ice machine dropping ice, but I use ear plugs every night always, and didn't hear it when I slept. My second stay there!

Don't expect great Italian food at the Italian restaurant that is adjacent to the (good) Mexican restaurant down the street.

Great location...and nicely appointed hotel
My stay at the Marriott San Juan Resort and Stellaris Casino was just what I was looking for. The location is only a short 10 minute taxi ride and once there, you are in the middle of everything...beach, shops and nice restaurants. And, beautiful Old San Juan is a short trip from the hotel. The amenities at the hotel were fantastic, and the staff were very courteous and helpful, especially the Concierge.

Definitely try Ropa Vieja for dinner...a short walk from the hotel with an extensive menu that provides the diner with a wonderful opportunity to sample some of the local flavor. A favorite of mine was the fresh stewed goat meat...on the menu as Fresco Guisado. And, I would also recommend the avocado salad. Both were DELICIOUS!

Great Location - Hotel showing signs of age
I have been to this hotel a number of times over the last 20 years and not much has changed. The hotel is in need of an update. While spotlessly clean it is showing the wear an tear. The lobby is gorgeous, pools great, and beach wonderful. Spa facilities are in need of major renovation. All in all still a wonderful place to stay and I will go back.

Really good getaway!
The hotel was fantastic. When we checked in, we were met by a barmaid with a wonderful free rum drink! The hotel had many attendants around the lobby area, all thin and handsome and providing a kind greeting. The pools, whirlpool, beach, bars overlooking the beach, etc., were all wonderful although the drink prices were steep. The beach was perfect, with 80 degree water temperature and folks that brought the unbrellas and lounge chairs out for us. Overall, I would rate this trip as a real bargain, and I really enjoyed the experience. With the package price and direct flights to/from Washington/Dulles, it made the whole trip a no-brainer. People at the office can't believe what a good deal this vacation was. And the people in San Juan were just so kind and helpful--they obviously understand the U.S. and what tourism is about!

Not for pleasure!
This hotel has no personal touch. No service at the pool, beach service was minimum and the check- in staff lacked hospitality. Had the breakfast very expensive and cold - it's buffet style. Was looking forward to the tropical drinks but they were horrible, beer was our save option. One thing I did notice the staff did cater to the conference people. Kudos to the cleaning crew the only people that had it right. I'm not staying here again, unless I'm on a conference!
