Four diamond extravagance is offered to all guests at the Marriot San Juan Resort, keeping adults entertained with champagne-style pleasure, while wowing kids with games and waterslides. An oasis among Puerto Rico's party atmosphere, the hotel features grand architecture, neutral decor, surrounding vistas and tall palm trees. Exotic dark wood paneling and granite tops make every suite feel like a more refined version of home. Five restaurants serve up delicious continental cuisine, and the on-site Stellaris casino gives guests the chance to hedge their bets at Texas Hold’em poker. With two outdoor pools to swim through, and spa treatments to enjoy, it's really no surprise that the Puerto Rico Tourism Company named this hotel Best of The Best for all around quality and service.

Something for all ages

Was there last week w/ 10 & 13 year old grandsons and their parents. Everyone was thrilled w/ the service, convemience and amenities. Ocean is the prettiest I've ever seen. Varieyt of restaurants and price ranges w/i walking distance. Try not to tour El Junque Forest when cruise ships are in port. The forest itself is a jewel! At 66, I would not consider driving anywhere. Cabs are plentiful and reasonable. I much preferred this to Cancun and Tulum. Weather was gorgeous. There was no down side to this resort and the casino would be a plus for many.

Not typical Marriott standards

We had an alright time, but had to move to another room as next door was noisy, then new room had poor hot water quality, and staff decided to remodel next door rooms bathroom at 9pm in the evening, needed to ask them to stop. Room service knocked on our door at 6:30 in morning, woke us up. So we feel this Marriott was not up to standards, ordinary, not 5 star

Not the best, but ok

the room was average for the Marriott. The facilities were nothing special and food prices were not very reasonable on site. The worst part of the entire facility was the lounge and the music which was loud and horrible. We would have liked to sit in the lounge and have drinks and maybe dance, but the techno type music every night was unbearable. We expected some Latin music at some point during our stay.

Marriott San Juan Resort 7/30- 8/4 stay

I am a frequent traveler and decided to stay at this hotel because of location and price. The hotel is situated on the beach which is nice. If you are looking for luxury, this is not the hotel, but the location is more central than the Ritz/Hilton. Although nice, the hotel is standard Marriott. The hotel is in a good area of San Juan which is surrounded by shops and restaurants. The two restaurants in the hotel can be a little pricey, it is great to have other local options. I've paid about $30-40 for dinner and paid $32 with tax and tip for LUNCH by the poolside bar. While in San Juan I did the El Yunque rainforest tour and the tour of Old San Juan, which were both great. Lots of great little shops both local mom and pops and upscale shops in Old San Juan.My most pressing concern I had with the hotel[...] is the "hidden" fees/resort fees that were additional outside of the original package cost. The purpose of prepaying a vacation is to eliminate these fees. I've never purchased a package where I had to pay additional charges upon checkout. I'm not sure if this is just the hotel policy or wha[...]. It's unfortunate that Puerto Rico does not have all-inclusive options like the other Carribean options.

Nice place to stay

Excellent beds for a great night sleep!! Enjoyed our stay, room was a bit small, but hotel is very nice and the staff are extremely helpful. Definitely go for the oceanfront room, you won't be disappointed. Very nice fitness center. Pools are nice, but shaded by too many surrounding trees. Best beach in the area. Restaurants are very good. Overall, nice place to stay.

Pre-holiday getaway

Location was great and right on the beach with nice pool area. Plenty of chairs on the beach. Service was pretty good and friendly staff. Concierage was informative. In walking distance of restaurants and short cab ride to Old San Juan. Not much entertainement at the hotel. They were supposed to have dancing in the lobby bar area but never saw anyone dancing there. The downside - the hot water went out suddenly and was out from morning until 5:00 pm. They said a pipe had burst and it was outside of the hotel so not in their control. Hotel did give us a small credit to make up for it. It's typical chain hotel so you know what you can expect.

Not bad for the money

Over all, it was a nice stay. We had an ocean view room for a reasonable price, and the view was fantastic. However, be aware that when you check in (especially several hours before the normal 4pm check in time), the front desk might try to sell you an upgrade under the pretense of you being able to get the room sooner. They tried that on us; we agreed to the upgrade, and it turned out that the upgrade room would not be ready for another three hours, and we could have got what we originally booked sooner (we cancelled the upgrade after waiting for more than 3 hours, and got the originally booked room right away). Also make sure that you tip the housekeeping more than $2 a day for a 2-person room. On the first day, we left a $2 tip (for two people, one room) partly because that was all the change we had. We discovered at night that the sheets had sand in them. That never happened again after we started leaving $4 tip per day. On the other hand, the conceiage staff was very friendly and knowledgeable during the day (but in our experience, not in the late afternoon). They recommended two restaurants in Old San Juan, and both were excellent. Speaking of food, try not to eat at the hotel, especially not the room service. The hotel food wasn't bad -- your typical hotel food. But the local restaurants were so much better. You'll find many great resaurants near the hotel. Puerto Rico is a great place for vacation. We'll definitely come back, but probably will stay at a different hotel.

Getaway Stay

The overall stay was fine. The restuarant was somewhat pricey for what you got. Room was standard but housekeeping could have been a little better (like vacuuming the floors. Staff was helpful and courteous. Great massage at the spa. I last stayed here 11 years ago and everything seems pretty much the same
