Four diamond extravagance is offered to all guests at the Marriot San Juan Resort, keeping adults entertained with champagne-style pleasure, while wowing kids with games and waterslides. An oasis among Puerto Rico's party atmosphere, the hotel features grand architecture, neutral decor, surrounding vistas and tall palm trees. Exotic dark wood paneling and granite tops make every suite feel like a more refined version of home. Five restaurants serve up delicious continental cuisine, and the on-site Stellaris casino gives guests the chance to hedge their bets at Texas Hold’em poker. With two outdoor pools to swim through, and spa treatments to enjoy, it's really no surprise that the Puerto Rico Tourism Company named this hotel Best of The Best for all around quality and service.

Nice location to beach area

The hotel and beach experience was very good. Old san Juan fort and shopping area was fun and informative, The rain Forest tour was well worth the money. But the territory is poor and the country side was dirty and littered. This is not the place to travel to if you are going there for a local experience.

Great Location with beach access

Hotel has a great stretch of beach right out front with friendly staff waiting with umbrellas and lounge chairs. Some of the other hotels in this area have little or no beach so "google earth". Two pools (one has a slide) and a jacuzzi that was hot. The hotel has two buildings, one in front of the water, one behind the pool, so if you really want oceanfront, be sure that is what you order. The restaurants in the hotel are excellent. Especially if you love seabass. A few of the shops and other buildings nearby may look dilapidated but Cartier and Prada stores are just a couple of blocks down the road. Burger King and other familiar franchises are within walking distance as well as local fine dining restaurants.

Sightseeing tip: In Hotel

Hertz has a rental counter in the hotel and they will deliver the vehicle to you. We rented a jeep for the day for about $100 to go exploring. Otherwise, there are always taxis waiting. Old San Juan is only $15 away.

Great value for weekend get-a-way

Requested & confirmed a double bed room as we were 3 adults. When checking in we were told no double rooms were available, but another friend who booked separately was traveling with our group and front desk managed to get us connecting rooms which solved problem. Worked out better than expected. Hats Off! Problem: no hair dryer in room - had to buy one.

very pretty

A nice place to stay if you can get a discount. The rooms are a good size and I believe most have an ocean view. The pool is very attractive and the chairs on the beach are complimentary

Cool Trip

Good price for the location, however the food and beverages at the hotel were extremely expensive considering there were outside options for much cheaper. We were there for the beach which was nice, the pool was great too but rather shallow. A bigger pool would have made the experience better. Good but not great in comparison to other venues I've stayed at.

Great, Relaxing Getaway

The hotel itself is lovely, on a beautiful stretch of beach. There are many great places to dine within walking distance to the hotel. A Walgreens & a mini mart to stock up on supplies, are within a block or 2 Hotel personel were courtious, and helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable. Balcony over looking the Ocean was great for morning coffee. People like to boogie board here, bring your own, as the hotel does not supply them. There are no real scheduled activities, which I think would be nice.. examples would be organized beach volley ball, horseshoes, bocci ball, darts, etc. We are used to having that, and it would be a great touch. Nice not having to go through customs...short $20.00 cab ride to the airport. All in all....a great trip for the money.

buy drinks ,snacks and breakfast foods at local mini marts and Walgreens. There is a small fridge and a coffee maker in the room. Eat out at outside local restaurants to save $$$. Many within walking distance.

Great location and hotel

Location was great and very safe. Lots of food options - all within walking distance(all price ranges). Hotel was really nice, very lush and comfortable - not stuffy. Good pool and beach. Service was good and travel desk and concierge all very helpful. 10 minute cab ride to Old San Juan or you can take the bus. Also close to airport (about 15 min). Lots to do if you want. People all very friendly. Would recommend for sure!

Time-saving tip: Long walk from hotel

We walked into Old San Juan from the hotel - would not recommend unless 6 miles in the sun is for you. We enjoyed but not everyone would. A lot of people from the hotel took the bus or shared cab rides into Old San Juan (10 minute ride).

Week in San Juan 7/17-7/25/09

We stayed at the Marriot Stallaris which overall was a very nice hotel. The staff were very pleasant and the ocean view from our room was beautiful. The nice part of the hotel was that it was within walking distance to many restaurants and pharmacies; stores if you need to buy munchies. The other hotels in the area were closed down and had some graffiti on them but it seems like the area is picking up. While in San Juan we rented a car for the week and did several excursions on our own which were much cheaper. We did the "SEGWAY TOUR" This is a MUST this is the most fun we've ever had. It was only $80 dollars per person and you toured 6 miles of old San Juan along with an inside tour of the fort. Worth every penny!! We also did some Horseback riding on the beach; The Cave tour and we went to see the observatory. All these tours we found on our own and paid almost nothing to see these beautiful places. An example was the Barcardi Factory tour we took a ferry ride for .50 cents located in Old San Juan to the Barcardi Factory and then paid 3.00 for a quick shuddle ride there. The actual factory tour is free plus 2 free drinks. The island had alot to offer, we tried several restaurants as well as some of the vendor carts which had REALLY GOOD FOOD. We even found the ice cream shop called "LARES" that has 1,000 flavors. We also ate at the hotel in the restaurant lounge along with the the downstairs buffet for breakfast. It was about $20.00 but SO WORTH IT. The Friday night seafood buffet was excellent as well with great choices such as crab legs, all kinds of seafood and Prime Rib..its worth every penny. The food was actually quite good and reasonable in regards to pricing of the nearby restaurants as well.

Money-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

We drove to several parts of the island if your going to stay for a week be sure to rent a car its worth the cost because you will save alot on the excursions as well as you'll get to see alot more of the island.
