Beautiful Resort for Puerto Rico Vacatio

Everyone was very nice and helpful. The concierge was very helpful in explaining directions for Old San Juan shopping, horseback riding in Laquella and a visit to the rain forest. The rooms were very clean and the "Soaps" were unique and very nice! The down comforters were wonderful! Unfortunately, the air condition didn't seem to remove the humidity well from the room - sheets frequently felt a little damp. The pools were beautiful and clean and the beach location is always a plus. It was nice having the small break water area from the rough ocean, great for children and adults too! We liked the convenience of the parking garage. We did not receive good directions on how to use the parking ticket... we got stuck twice at the out gate and had to call for assistance, but the valets were always helpful and very pleasant. Finally on the third day we were told the ticket was good for the entire visit. We were previously getting a ticket on each entry. All in all beautiful hotel in a nice location. We missed having an affordable relaxing breakfast - $44 is just too much for breakfast for two! Breakfast should always be a great way to start a day... We selected to leave the hotel to enjoy a "better" less costly breakfast elsewhere.

Rent a car from Charlies Car Rental! The price for the week is the cost of one tour and you can park at the resort. Dont' be afraid to drive - get a map and take off for other areas to visit.

Great pools

My friend and I went down for some sun and fun. La Concha provided most of what we wanted. The room was great (we were in the building on the street side) on the 2nd floor and you could see through the opposite building to the water. At the same time, our veranda overlooked the pool. Great for breakfast and coffee in the morning. The other building (on the ocean side) didn't have a veranda! The pool area was great and relaxing. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The only negative was the construction (every morning). Good thing we were early risers! I don't think construction is something you can escape as they are making a lot of improvements to the whole Condado area of San Juan. La Concha is a good base because it lies between Old San Juan and La Isla Verde. City on one side and cool resorts on the other. There are restaurants and small stores nearby so you don't always have to eat at the hotel. Definitely would recommend the hotel if you are looking for a modern, fun resort. Not as overwhelming as the El San Juan but not as many options. Buses and taxis are available right outside the hotel to all areas!

Nightlife tip: Short drive from hotel

La Concha is a great lounge! Lots of people claimed that was a place to be, but we found El San Juan to be more fun with more choices in one place. But maybe we could have visited more places in Condado area.

Not getting your monies worth

Although the hotel had a spotless lobby, the rooms were not very clean. The resort is not what is shown on their site. Unfortunately the housekeeping was not what I expected. The toilet was clogged and leaked through my entire stay. The first day was the only day the bathroom was completely stocked . Throughout the stay I had to request supplies. The staff was very friendly. One last remark. At checkout time, to my surprise, my invoice had extra fees for using the fitness room, board room, pool benches and internet. The hotel should not assume that these services are utilized by everyone. As far as using the benches in the pool, that should be part of the services as courtesy to the client. The room had coffee but no cream and sugar. I would not recommend this hotel.

Lovely hotel, poor service

As indicated, the hotel property is beautiful, even considering the construction that was under way. My bad experiences however (there were two), began upon arrival at the hotel. There were four in my party, each with her own room reservation, and neither of us had rooms for the first night's stay. We were told by [...], that because some guests who were part of a convention's reservation, wanted to extend their stay, we were bumped to accomodate them. Needless to say, we were very upset, not only because he would say this to us, but he also wanted to send us to another Renaissance property that was not near the La Concha. To make matters worse, [...] said he would not pay for the taxi for us to return to the La Concha. Following more conversation, he relented and said that the taxi would be taken care of.Ā  We stayed at the Doubletree for one night; the staff was very concerned and helpful, and the accomodations were great. Before leaving fo the Doubletree we were informed that a taxi would pick us up at 12 noon, check-out time, and bring us back to the La Concha.During check-out at the Doubletree, [...] telephoned the LaConcha and spoke with [...] who confirmed that she knew about our situation and is expecting us. [...] also informed us that because of our troubles, the La Concha will accomodate us for lunch. There was no taxi waiting for us, and to be honest, I am not sure that Doubletree did not pick up the tab for the taxi. Well, not only were the rooms not ready, [...] pretended not to have any knowledge about lunch on the house. We eventually got the lunch, and we were asked for a phone number so that we can be contacted as the rooms became availbalele. I left my cell phone number and received a call when my room was ready.Ā  The four of us camped out in my room for about an hour, waiting for our luggage and three additional calls that never came. The beautiful room view eased our frustration as we waited, but not much. When the bellboy finally arrived, he noticed the looks on our faces and offered to help by calling the front desk. Once again, we had to explain our situation, the staff had changed shifts, and [...] apparently hadn't apprised the 'new' attendants of our circumstance.Ā  Within half an hour, everyone finally had a room. We lost a day of sightseeing due to this situation, and the people at the La Concha appeared not to really care.Ā  [...], who it turns out was not the manager, and repeatedly stated that, "its not my fault", did not handle our situation professionally, or sympathetically. His attitude was, since LaConcha took care of the one night stay at the Doubletree, La Concha did all it was supposed to do.Ā

Honeymooner Heaven

The Hotel was very nice, clean, updated, but very expensive to eat or drink at. More pricey that I have seen in a while. Pool was gorgeous, beach immaculate, great staff. Did not like the hidden fees, and we paid to upgrade to an ocean view room. Would I stay there again? Probably not, but it is worth a 1 time stay for sure. Great ammenitites, just pricey. it really is 4 star.

OMG! Never Again!

I upgraded to a oceanview room on a higher floor paying $400+/night for my daughter and I. Upon arrival after midnight they had given my room away and put me in the 2-story at end of property. I asked them for a discount since I was not getting the room I paid for and the clerk said they were all the same price. It was raining hard and I had to go out of the main lobby to get to the attached 2 story rooms on the pool side. When getting into the room; my daughter taking off her shoes step on a needle; which went 1/2 way in her foot! Blood was everywhere - on the cream chair; floor, etc. I called down for some assistants. I was brought bandaid and a wipe. Getting in bed at 2 am; the fluorescents green/blue lights beamed in through the shades. We could not sleep because there was a group of guys parting in the Hot Tub. I went down at 7 am to discuss what happened and see about getting the room I paid for. Loiza was the only friendly one there trying to help me out. I had to go take my daughter to see her relatives so I left it in here hands. Trying to get out of the underground parking was a nightmare. Too narrow, no signage, and my ticket needed to be validated. Getting back to my new room had a nice view but smelled very wet and mildewy. Going down to the bar area to order a cocktail and food for my daughter; I was completely ignored. I went to speak to the manager and he did not even know what to say except that he would look into it. This was uncalled for! No compensation for my room or even offering to order our food. I went to validate my ticket another day after paying for 2 days at $15/each day; Loiza (only one with customer service) had arranged for my remainging 2 days to be valeted. I lived in PR for almost 7 years before my return of 8 years later. I would not recommend this Hotel to anyone. Oh yeah; the night before I was to leave at 4 am the next morning. The party in the lobby was so noisy I did not sleep a wink; when I left for the airport it was just starting to break up.

Trendy Hotel with a great Ocean view

La Concha is a nice hip trendy hotel and located in a great location. Check in process was fast...but the room was not ready until 2 hours after check in time. The hotel made up for the room not being ready by providing a few free drinks by the pool and called my cell phone when the room was ready. The room was nice and of average size. I believe the room was near housekeeping storage which might explain all the noise. The hotel restaurants were great and we ate at all them. The hotel and restaurant staff were all very happy and helpful and made my the stay very pleasent. I would recommend this hotel to family and friends.

Hip, fun and great for singles, girl getaway and couples.

La Concha's rooms were very comfortable. The room had an i-Pod dock and a great bathroom. Our room had a small balcony overlooking the ocean. The pools are beautiful! There are dinging options for any time of day and any price range. The casino was brand-new and lots of fun. Tip - the casino serves hot, grilled cheese sandwiches - a great, free late-night snack! Also, if you are a hotel guest and plan to visit the casino, do not use the valet parking. The casino will validate self-park only, but the parking garage is convenient, so its worth self parking to save about $20/day in parking fees. I would definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends and stay there again on my next visit to San Juan.
