Sleek San Juan hotel on Condado Beach with a floating restaurant
Everything about La Concha flows -- from its landmark seashell-shaped restaurant, to its open air lobby and its sleekly appointed rooms. A warm ocean breeze drifts through the wall-less lobby where the white marble, neon green lights and white leather seating is the epitome of modern-tropical chic. The flow continues outdoors where the infinity pool appears to drop right into the Atlantic.

Beautiful ocean view with wonderful ocean breeze was just was I needed for a restful vacation! After a quick 10 minute drive from the airport we were warmly welcomed by staff. Service was alway terrific and I plan to return again. While I usually avoid hotel restaurants, I ended up eating there several times and found the food very good.

I felt comfortable walking around the hotel area at night and enjoyed several local restaurants that you could walk to including Picayo, Jam Bistro and Di Zucchero (for breakfast).

Good amenities but service has everything to be desired

We stayed in a jr suite ocean view. The room was generally clean and comfortable with a killer view of the ocean and an outdoor balcony. The exercise room is one of the best I have ever experienced, and I've traveled a lot for business in some really nice hotels. We made a couple of requests, like leaving our luggage with the bellman when we arrived, asking the bellman to pick up our luggage upon departure and asking for more cream/sugar for in room coffee (which had not be replenished by the maid). In most cases, the staff just completely forgot about our requests and did not fulfill them. Pool and beach areas were very nice. Food overpriced and not great. It was a decent experience, but not sure I would stay here again unless we got a better deal (room was about $290 per night Dec 1-6, 2012).

trendy hotel in best part of town

We had a great time at La Concha. Good food great property and amazing staff. La Perla restaurant is a must see spot inside a giant sea shell. Prices for food and drinks were fair for such a nice hotel. If I could make one improvement to the property is the lobby bar sound system. They bring in Dj's on most nights but it was ruined by a terrible musak style sound. No base at all... Other than that everything was quite nice....

Cool Hotel

Second time at this hotel and both trips have been great. I have always stayed in the new part of the hotel in the junior suites which are very nice - with a separate sitting area and balcony. I think it is worth the extra money for the suites over a regular room. The hotel is modern with a great staff. You can walk to many nearby restaurants and bars. Right across the street is a great little place called Cafe de Angel not fancy but great local food. The food and drinks at the hotel are pricey but at least they are good. Will be back.

PR

The hotel is lovely and the beach staff is superb - especially Brock and Fernando. We had a bit of a snafu with a senior staff member. We left our Ipad on the beach and it was miraculously recovered and handed into lost and found by staff. We wanted to reward him - we left 100 dollars for him with the on duty Pool manager. The next day we learned that this manager had kept 60 of the 100 dollars! It was outrageous and left a very bad taste in our mouths. Unfortunately we left the next day. Hopefully it was resolved and Fernando got the reward he rightfully desreved. The food is pretty expensive - breakfast in particular. They offer a $25 breakfast buffet and it is substandard at this price. Not worth more than $10.

Next door to the hotel there is a Ben and Jerry's shop that sells breakfast and salads. You can order it to go and eat it on the beach. Much better and cheaper than what is on the beach menu.

Great romantic getaway

Went here for a mini-vacation and had a great time. The open nature of the layout and design, uniting indoors and outdoors, was excellent. I suppose it would be nice to have a pool where one could really swim, but we enjoyed just floating around; and then there was the beach. Enjoyed the beach, but if you're looking for surf that you can ride (body-surfing or otherwise) you'd have to go some other location. I heard something about Ocean Beach on the east end of the island but never made it there. Food is on the expensive side but there are plenty of other options nearby. Overall, a great place to stay.

Hip Condado Hotel

This is a pretty large hotel that still manages to feel like a hip boutique hotel. The open lobby surrounding a large bar/lounge area is always buzzing with activity and even becomes nightclub on some nights. There are at least 4 swimming pools (probably more) and waiters are always around to serve drinks and poolside snacks. The beach accessed directly from the property is pretty fairly nice although a little narrower these days due to storm erosion. Beach chairs and umbrellas available from the hotel. Towels and complementary iced water are available in all swimming areas. The rooms are updated with all necessary conveniences like flat screen TVs, central air and modern kitchens in the suites. The frosted glass shower walls are a cool design touch. Housekeeping makes sure the rooms are always spotless. Free Wi-Fi is not always reliable. There is an interesting mix of guests at this hotel from families, to young party seekers, to business travelers. Staff goes out of its way to make sure all guests feel welcomed.

The Place, a fairly new burger joint on Ashford not too far from the Marriott, has a nice mix of locals and tourists and is a good place to go for American comfort food.

Awesome couple getaway

My stay at La Concha was Awesome. The ambience was fantastic. 24 hour pool, Jacuzzi, and Casino made my experience even better. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The location is Live and Noisy due to the bars across the street but that was not a problem it just added fun to my stay. Live band near the lobby and pool area was very nice. No complaints loved it!

Honeymoon stay

I stayed at La Concha on the first and last night of my honeymoon as a layover between San Juan and Dominica. The first night was a Sunday so the place was pretty low key. We stayed in room 1101 which was a spectacular room with ocean view AND city views, a lovely outdoor eating area, and a living room separate from the bedroom. It was spectacular! Luis at the front desk was super nice and fun to work with. We had breakfast at Voga in the morning and opted for an Omelette over the buffet but were yearning for all the buffet had to offer. Our last night was a Saturday night (before Halloween) and the hotel was HOPPING! We stayed in room 656 in the tower and it was also spectacular! It offered a separate living room, separate kitchenette, lovely bathroom with a huge shower /separate toilet AND a balcony! We were super excited about the balcony. Our only complaint in this room was the a/c was super loud. We did have breakfast at Voga again taking advantage of the buffet and it was very tasty - highly recommended even though it's a bit on the pricey side. Another item to note, the hotel had a HUGE Halloween party this night. We had a great time BUT it would have been nice to have been alerted before our travels so we could plan to bring costumes if we wanted. The condado neighborhood offers some great entertainment and it is about a $20 cab ride from the airport and about $20 to Old San Juan so a nice middle ground between the Old San Juan area and other activities (such as El Junque). The beach was perfect, we loved the pools as well. Towels and cold water were offered everywhere and you could get lounge chairs and umbrellas if you wanted. There is also a park next door that our concierge advised us that has a jazz festival the last Sunday of every month. We were sad to have missed that! I would definitely stay at La Concha again. Thanks to the staff at La Concha for making our honeymoon so enjoyable!!
