Sleek San Juan hotel on Condado Beach with a floating restaurant
Everything about La Concha flows -- from its landmark seashell-shaped restaurant, to its open air lobby and its sleekly appointed rooms. A warm ocean breeze drifts through the wall-less lobby where the white marble, neon green lights and white leather seating is the epitome of modern-tropical chic. The flow continues outdoors where the infinity pool appears to drop right into the Atlantic.

Highlights
  • The golden sands of Condado Beach just footsteps away
  • Located on trendy Ashford Avenue, a shopping mecca
  • Floating, seashell-shaped Perla Restaurant
  • Huge on-site casino
Rooms

La Concha's "habitats," as they're called, are bright and contemporary with crisp white linens, bedspreads in vivid colors and striking underwater photos. Rooms have high-speed Internet.

Dining

There are several on-site dining options at La Concha including the landmark Perla. The high-end seafood restaurant is situated in a floating, shell-shaped pod (dinner only). Solera is open for lunch and dinner and serves tasty tapas. The dinner-only Komakai has Asian fare, including a sushi bar. There are paninis, salads and more at the Sidewalk Cafe, open for lunch and dinner. The Lobby Bar serves drinks and a light menu for lunch and dinner. Level 25 serves a hearty American breakfast, and Aroma offers light breakfast bites on the go.

yearly spring vacation

my brother, his girlfriend and i went to the la concha hotel for five days in may 2012, it was all that we could have asked for, it had almost everything there, several pools, hotel right at the beach, casino, bar and nightly entertainment, the rooms were very comfortable and clean, cabs are a little expensive, but there is a bus right out front of hotel and cabs to take you to old san juan or elsewhere, some speak the language and some don't, would stay there again. loved the tour of the rum factory with debbie, ask for her at the hotel desk front, she gave us a very good, informative and intense tour of the old fort.

Vacationed with my daughter and we had a great time. However, if you want some quiet on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday then you do not want to stay here. The lobby becomes a night club on the weekends...very loud!!!

Location, location, location!

We just spent 5 nights at La Concha. It was a great experience! You could not ask for a better location in San Juan. We were right on the beautiful beaches of Condado with only a 10-15 minute bus ride to Old San Juan. The hotel staff was amazing, especially Felix at the entrance. He made us feel right at home. The room was clean but a bit small (maybe they all are that way in San Juan). The beach was amazing! We walked up and down for hours. There were always enough chairs, but not always enough umbrellas. From the beach, you can walk right up to the hotel, which has 3 separate pools, including one that is for adults only. We didn't really eat at the hotel restaurants, but we got desert brought up to our room, and it was fabulous! The one down side is that everything is a bit pricey - roughly $10 for a drink at the pool. But, I guess you should expect that being at a resort. Overall, we loved it!

Not Flexible

The hotel is nice and the rooms seem like they've been updated fairly recently. It's right on the beach which is awesome and they have three little pools and a couple of hot tubs on top of that which is great. The only qualms I have is that we couldn't get a 2 queen bed room even though we requested one before we got there because they said they were booked and those rooms with 2 beds were limited. Also, the service at the bar is really slow.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

There is this little spot right down the street right before Walgreens, I forget the name, but they are open 24/7 and the food is great and reasonably priced. Their paella was good.

disappointed on our honeymoon. PLEASE READ!!

Well, we spent 8 nights there so there was a HUGE "hold" they wanted on my card $500 dollars, which is a lot when you are on a budget honeymoon, we got it reduced to $300 but that was still difficult to have that money not in our hands, and it was a hassle and they weren't too nice about it. The hotel was overly fancy (they lobby had a dress code) which was nice but put us a little out of our comfort zone, and for such a "Fancy" hotel the electricity went out, Twice, the second time for over an hour and no apology was made. Luckily I wasn't in the shower or something. Also, when I booked I was promised a 400 sq foot room with ocean view and I got a small maybe 250 sq foot room. Also they took the chairs literally right out from under you on the beach at 5:30pm on the dot. All umbrellas and chairs went away and were chained up. You couldn't use them after that, which sucked because the weather was gorgeous and we wanted to relax until dusk.... but we didn't bring our own beach chair, so We sat in the sand for a bit but gave up after a bit as it wasn't super comfy for relaxing. The staff was nice, there were always over priced taxis waiting to take you wherever you wanted and the location was good. The private beach was nice too, and the room was very clean and the shower was awesome, except there was no door or curtain so it got the whole floor super soaked. We would have probably been just as happy if not happier at a less fancy, less expensive hotel without so many silly rules. The hotel was stiff and semi unfriendly, a less "fancy" place would probably have been more accommodating and the small room space wouldn't have been such a disappointment. Bed wasn't very comfy either, but not the worst i've slept on either. They certainly did not impress me.
