Historic San Juan hotel blends serenity and sophistication
InterContinental San Juan Resort & Casino has the look and feel of Miami Beach hotels in their heyday. The hotel was designed and built in the late 1950s by a prominent architect and maintains suave sophistication. From the lobby, two grand staircases overlook tall, arched windows, soft chairs and high-backed benches. The lounge is a rich collection of marble, dark wood and candles. Guest rooms are elegant. Canopies of trees, gardens and stone fountains open onto one of Puerto Rico's most beautiful beaches.

Business Hotel

The hotel is located in the prime area of San Juan. the hotel is beautiful and the views are great. We had a city view and I must say, it was magical. The staff, minus our maid were great and full of information. I would not stay in this hotel again because it was too business like. It did not have a resort family feel to it. We rented a car an traveled the island. Check out Mar Quita in Manati. The most beautiful cove I have ever seen. I thought I was in Hawaii for a second. A ferry from Fajardo to the island of Culebra is a mus

Do not go to Mi Casita in Isla Verde. I have been going to this restaurant for years and the food is outstanding. The wait for the food is always long, but always well worth it. The price is very affordable too. I must say my trip this time was disgusting. The waiters and host were the most unprofessional group of people I have ever seen. Not only did we have to wait an hour to get our food, but our waiter was counting tip money right in front of us. I speak Spanish and I could not believe the racket they had going on. The waiters were actually making fun of their clients. I could not believe the atmosphere. The waiters we laughing with one another and being loud throughout the tiny restaurant. I usually don't complain about this stuff but it was the worst experience ever.

The Overly-charged Hotel

front desk does not explain things you need to know. i wasnt told i needed a parking voucher if i had a car so we paid at the booth and was asked what room # and everything. they charged tax on overnight parking. at checkout the hotel tried charging us a second time for parking. we were mislead on breakfast. this girl told us that fruit and bagels were free. turned out to be $36. the manager was a bia . gave us wrong customer service number cause we were reporting them. but i can always get the right one. never again will i come here.

Great Hotel

I had an absolutely amazing time at the Intercontinental. The pool and beach are AMAZING. Puerto Rico in general was very laid back and the only place we really found where there was any real action at night was Old San Juan, but there are plenty of little restaurants and fast food joints right next to the hotel. and a small mall a couple of blocks down.

Great Vacation

If you want a beach vacation for relaxation and sun this one is for you. While its not the trendiest hotel on the beach (try La Concha or El San Juan for that) it works well and is solid. Staff was great and helpful. Rooms are dated but bed was comfortable and room clean. Not a lot going on in the lobby. Excursions arranged via hotel were worth time and effort and the ease/convenience of not shopping around to get to key sites worth it. Everything else as expected. Hotel clearly takes security seriously but be sure to use the safe provided..... Do See: Luminescent Lagoon, Walk to WaterFalls (if you are able, its a hike but being in the water was fun...take early trip), Jet Skis down the beach, El San Juan lobby, casino, and bars (hotel next door). Snorkel at Iacacco Island on Spread Eagle II catamaran. Old San Juan and Fort, worth visit but take a cab or the bus and do on your own. Hint: Paying for "Ocean View", be sure to get above the 7th floor to clear the trees.

Mi Casita. Not too expensive and across the street for local cuisine. Subway (yes that Subway) for a quick breakfast sandwich from friendly staff. Wasabi for sushi is a drive but worth it.
