Historic San Juan hotel blends serenity and sophistication
InterContinental San Juan Resort & Casino has the look and feel of Miami Beach hotels in their heyday. The hotel was designed and built in the late 1950s by a prominent architect and maintains suave sophistication. From the lobby, two grand staircases overlook tall, arched windows, soft chairs and high-backed benches. The lounge is a rich collection of marble, dark wood and candles. Guest rooms are elegant. Canopies of trees, gardens and stone fountains open onto one of Puerto Rico's most beautiful beaches.Highlights
- Located on picturesque Isla Verde Beach
- Historic architecture
- On-site spa and casino

Excellent choice for a vacation stay
We dined in the bar restaurant several times during both the day and evening. There was a very good Japanese restaurant also as well as a breakfast and dinner buffet. We visited the casino, the gift shop, and the small coffee shop, but our favorite place was the beach/pool area, where a waitress offered us plenty of snack bar choices. At night, especially on Friday/Saturday, the main lobby was full of activities!

Disappointed
My stay at this hotel was not what I expected my husband and I were disappointed. Let me start by saying the pictures make the hotel seem more then what it is. The pool is not that big at all, the rooms are rather small, bed was sunked in, bathroom door could not close and as for the staff 7 out of 10 were rude. Let's not forget the financial side of this trip. 1 beer will cost you $8 and a small and I mean small mixed drink $14. At arrival we were also surprised with a surcharge we had no knowledge of & Parking was $16 a day also we paid for ocean view and they wanted to give us a city view. According to them anything below the 9th floor is considered city view but of course I wasn't going to let that fly. Other then that I loved the beach; the sand was white/clean and the water was clear. We were in the center of it all; shops, places to eat, ATM, liquor store, 24 hour Walgreens etc. The area I recommend but the hotel I will never stay at again.

Beautiful hotel, room not so great!!
The hotel itself was beautiful. The amenities were excellent. However, the room was not great. The tub would not drain, the toilet got stopped up and when I called for sevice it took over one hour to get someone to come to the room, and that's because I kept calling. I loved booking through [...], all in all the vacation was a good one after the initial hump.

Top Class Service
I loved staying here with my cousins. The staff was great and location was perfect, right in the heart of the city. The rooms were clean, we had connecting rooms, and the beds were so comfy. The pool and the beach area were great for just relaxing and there was always something to do. I can't wait to go back!!!

Satisfied overall
Hotel was very nice and clean. Lobby was always busy and there was usually a line at the front desk. Our oceanview room was very nice with a sitting area, vanity seating area with mirror, and updated bathroom. Small balcony for standing only. Beach and pool areas were very convenient with lots of lounging chairs. Light rain showers were frequent during our stay in early June, but I guess that is to be expected so close to the rainforest.

Money-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
Walk to the bus stop and pay $0.75 to ride the bus into Old San Juan. Wendy's across the street is a quick cheap lunch option. Do not pay more than $25 per day for a car rental (we rented a Corolla for one day from Enterprise at El San Juan hotel next door for $22, booked same day online). Drive rental to El Yunque and visit other locations.

nice hotel
i couldnt give this hotel a 4 star, due to the fact when we arrived they had a party going on, blasting rap music with profanity laced lyrics. If i wanted to hear that i would have stayed in the bronx. Staff was a not overly helpful or friendly. The restaurant alfredo's was very good. Close to forts but beware of taxi's they drive like nascar, hotel should offer shuttles to and from old San Juan with safe drivers for the price. Overall nice hotel good location nice beach.

Trip 2 San Juan
This hotel we choose due receiving points as a priority member. The pool area and pool staff was excellent. The beach was perfect. However the room was just ok. It smelled like mold and felt damp inside. The bathroom was small & not very nice. The restaurants in the hotel were great.

What you need to know
The hotel is beautiful. We were with 2 other couples. Two rooms had safes in them one did not. The restaurants on site are expensive. Drinks at the bar are also expensive. I would like to see an all inclusive option available.

hotel was ok
the hotel was ok, it rained every day do not go in May or June. Aruba or the Bahamas was much better. Attempted to go to the gym one morning and it was closed as they were trimming trees nearby. You had to walk outsie to get to the gym in the rain. Alot of locals go to the bar and the local Dj was playing it was not a good thing at all. We had to call twice for house keeping at 4PM

The food prices at the hotel were so inflated. You can walk to the store and Taxi back for $8.00 buy food/drinks and coller and store in fridge at hotel! do note eat at Mi Casita food is terrible and service terrible ! There are many fast food places and a Chili's up the street.
