A backdrop of wild, tropical surroundings and a two-mile stretch of beach is offered by the InterContinental San Juan resort in Puerto Rico.  High-end touches to its island setting make guests feel constantly spoiled, from its canopied poolside lounge chairs to its chocolate granite and indigo decor. Troops of palm trees keep you company while you stroll by water fountains to take a dip in the outdoor pool. Get your heart racing at the gym or drop by for a relaxing massage at the spa. Five restaurants satisfy culinary wishes, and you can grab a drink at one of the welcoming hotel bars. Finish the night accompanying Lady Luck around the casino.

Neighborhood
Picking up an authentic panama hat from Ole, a custom hat fitter, is just one of the ways to embrace the local culture in historic Old San Juan. Crammed with eateries, shops, boutiques and museums, this is a vibrant community. Caficultura dishes up an excellent breakfast spiked with rum (at your request), making an excellent start to a morning spent at the Eastern side of the area. Take a trip out and zip-line through the El Yunque Rainforest, or go at a more relaxing pace on its lower levels. You'll spot some incredible wildlife, including the charming Puerto Rican parrot.

Good hotel but a bit pricey

I had a quick stay in PR for a funeral, so decided to stay close to the airport. This hotel is probably less than 5 minutes away. Food centers and restaurants can be found nearby if not interested in eating at the hotel. Beach and pool area are gorgeous, but at the time being they were working on the lobby area so it was a bit noisy int eh general lounge area. Price is OK but they hit you with a daily $21 PR tax that you just cannot avoid, so that makes the hotel price ridiculous for a night (for $17 extra I could have stayed at the Ritz Carlton nearby). Overall it is a good hotel but they need to work on their prices.

Fast food places all over the area, plus a Mexican restaurant and Chilis just around the corner from the hotel and a Starbucks at the San Juan Hotel & Casino next door.

Vacation

You have to pay resort fees on top of what you already paid. Also you need to pay for parking which is very expensive. They had construction going on in the room above mines starting at 10am-4pm. It was hard to rest b/c of this. They charge for everything and you can not even rest. I will not be returning to this resort.

Great Business Amenities

The Intercontinental has a gorgeous surrondings and a wonderful beach. The inside lobby was beautiful with alot of helpful employees. The male concierge was very helpful & seem very honest, but the female concierge was not very informable and seem lost as you asked her a question. There were 3 areas of dining which were all different and gave you a choice of different dishes. Though a little pricey and the room seemed a little used/worn with hard beds and cracked tile flooring. The bathroom fixtures seem like a cheap hotel and the room about the size of a normal hotel room. I enjoyed the wireless internet (free) and the casino as part of the hotel. The location was very good to walk to stores, restaurants, party places.

Beautiful view

The intercontinental Resort had a beautiful ocean view room. The room was very clean. I definitly have some pointers for those on a budget. All the restrauants in the hotel are very expensive. There are several places up and down the street that have good food and are better priced. Do not eat the M & M's they leave in the room. They are $4.00. So is everything else in the fridge. The pool here is beautiful and very clean. If you like to drink you will love the splash bar. For those people who want to spend money, Eat at Ruth's Steak house. It is connected to the hotel. For two people it's about $130.00. Although the room service here is very nice(expensive) and you can get it at any time you want. (3:00 a.m) One last thing to keep in mind. It is $12.00 a day to park your car. $22.00 for valet. You will not find parking elsewhere. I hope this was helpful.. Safe travels
