Historic San Juan hotel blends serenity and sophistication
InterContinental San Juan has the look and feel of Miami Beach hotels in their heyday. The hotel was designed and built in the late 1950s by a prominent architect and maintains suave sophistication. From the lobby, two grand staircases overlook tall, arched windows, soft chairs and high-backed benches. The lounge is a rich collection of marble, dark wood and candles. Guest rooms are elegant. Canopies of trees, gardens and stone fountains open onto one of Puerto Rico's most beautiful beaches.

Perfect Relaxing Vacation

I came here referred by some family that was here the previous year and loved it. The rooms were great, the staff was great. Everything you are looking for in a vacation. The only thing- they were doing construction by the pool area during my stay. Since this is something thats usually planned in advance maybe a heads up or a discount could have helped. Other than that beautiful stay.

One year wedding anniversary

The lobby is beautiful! Room was nice as well, although lighting in shower was dim, it could have been brighter. Bathroom always had a cleaning supply smell, it wasn't bad but I really didn't care for it. Ocean view room was really nice! But I thought a balcony meant there would be two chairs so you could sit out there and enjoy the view. The balcony was very small. The hotel has quite a few places to eat, although the breakfast buffet was not good. You are better off eating sit down or room service. You won't believe it but it's cheaper then the buffet price. I also was not crazy about being charged $10 to rent an umbrella on the beach when I was charged almost $40 per day for what the Intercontinental calls a "resort fee". Which when I questioned the front desk they told me it's for the beach towels, security at night at the hotel, the FREE wi-fi, (which should be free right), the gym and a place they have for kids. Which my husband and I did not use the gym or the kids place. If the intercontinental wants to charge for stuff like that why not put it in the price of the room for the night. So if the room were $220 a night, which was roughly what we paid it was more like $260! But this is partly my fault, I should have not booked this hotel but I was told I may be able to have the intercontinental waive this fee if I didn't use these services.

Another awesome stay at our favorite hotel

The service doesn't get much better! Our mattress wasn't up to the usual standards we have had in our previous 6-7 stays. We were asked when we would be out for dinner and a new mattress was delivered (rather than making us pack up and move to another room.). There was a small leak in our room from the air conditioner in the room above ours and fixed in minutes! Everyone is so accommodating and nice here. Tried Nestor's Italian restaurant recommendation - not a drop of food left on our plates and 50 percent off wine on Thursdays!

5 Day Get away!

The front desk and concierge staff were not very friendly but the rest of the staff really made up for the few unwelcoming ones. The rooms were very clean and nice. The restaurant and bars on site were a bit expensive but the food and drinks were very good. The stay was worth it for what we payed, but honestly bring lots of money and don't expect a 5 star hotel and you'll have a great time!

San NO

Our experience at this Hotel was not terrible, but certainly not great. I would try to book elsewhere if possible. When we arrived, we were given the key to our room, and when we walked in our room-our room was filthy and smelly! It was not clean, there were towels on the floor of the bathroom and a little something special left in the toilet and on the seat itself- YES, on the seat itself! They would not give us a new room, but sent housekeeping up to take care of the problem. In addition, we payed for an ocean-view room, but we were on the 7th floor and you cannot see the ocean with all the trees from the pool area-huge disappointment. On our second day, the bathroom upstairs from us flooded our closet-bathroom and vanity area. Our clothes were soaked and everything on the vanity destroyed- make/up, hair dryer, chargers, clothing and shoes from the closet. We were given a new room with a much better view, 12th floor, but was not compensated for anything more. The beach/pool area are absolutely beautiful, but the hotel itself was very dirty- very disappointing. Aftering book through O, I was surprised to have an additional resort fee of $50 dollars a day and cost of an extra $10 to have an umbrella at the beach. Breakfast was included in our package and the buffet was not great- I would strongly encourage to get an omelet made which is part of the buffet but you have to wait on line for it. Service at the Beach Cafe was slooowww but the food and drinks were great. Lastly, if you are interested in booking a tour through the hotel, make sure you book in advance as some were already booked by the time we got there. We were able to hike the rain forest and swim with the falls- must do! Overall, just an okay experience- I would strongly advise to explore other options in the area prior to booking.
