The Miramar Hotel San Juan extends a friendly hand to anyone visiting San Juan's shores, with its traditional bar and rooftop views of the lagoon and the Atlantic beyond. Even the most dedicated workers are treated to a warmly-lit, comfy business lounge, complete with eclectic furniture and lampshades, while wooden writing desks stand in for computer stations for a 'home office' feel. The Bistro 606 Restaurant serves up tempting plates of tapas over a glass or two of vino. The gym is located on the same floor as the ocean side sundeck, so sticking to your vacation workout may prove a challenge.

Neighborhood

The Miramar Hotel San Juan is located at the crossroads of San Juan in the unassuming neighborhood of Miramar. To the northwest across the water lies the district of Old San Juan, with its sea-forts and rambling cobbled walkways; to the east is the upscale Condado district, with Condado and Oceanpark beaches providing all the surfing and volleyball action you could wish for. The nearby Puerto Rico Convention Center is the gleaming, modern landmark of the district, and the calm waters of Condado Lagoon are only a block away.

Hints and tips

Buses run by the stop in front of the hotel frequently, so it's easy to get around San Juan and cross the bridge into the old historic district as well.

Inexpensive Lima Bar does a mean ceviche for dinner, and there's also a movie theater located a block away from the hotel for those looking to catch a flick.

Area description
Miramar is, for the most part, a quiet, unassuming neighborhood across the water from Condado. It's a mix of residential community, business sector, and some admittedly shady areas. But Miramar's fortune changed with the arrival of the Puerto Rico Convention Center. An architectural wonder, the center is still putting it's stamp on the neighborhood, but it has already transformed the landscape.
Directions from San Juan Airport: Take Route 26 West to San Juan. Take exit: "Ave RH Todd-Santurce Pda.18-Condado Centro".Turn left at street light. Turn right onto Ponce de Leon Ave (Rt.25). Hotel is at the end of the avenue on your left. Stay on the inside left lane and make a U turn to access the hotel.

We spent a night en route to Culebra. Nice location, comfortable rooms , adequate space. Free wireless. A little pricey but may be reasonable for the area. Very accomodating staff.

Back home to San Juan after 55 years

The Hotel Miramir is a wonderful little hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful. The location is ideal because you are just minutes from the beaches and the city of Old San Juan itself. Public transportation is the way to go. It cost .50 to .75 to ride the buses that all lead into the city. Not to mention the trolly is free and takes you all around the city and to some historical sites.

Great one night gateway with a parent

Easy checking in but rather difficult to park if the rear lot is full then you have park in a public lot which is kept locked across the street. Restaurant was not open yet but I was able to get breakfast just down the street past Pueblo Supermarket at a cafeteria. Rooms were in great shape except the blanket to cover ourselves have seen its years...........old, faded and smelly. Nice perk of having a mini-fridge and microwave. Awesome attention from the front desk and housekeeping.

Good location and nice size rooms

The staff was very friendly and helpful - especially when giving directions. The room was bigger than anticipated and we enjoyed the mini-fridge and microwave. The beaches aren't to far to walk to but you will do quite a bit of walking. There are a couple local restaurants close by as well as a grocery store and pharmacy. If you have a car, parking can be tight but they'll "valet" it for you. Very convenient to a bus stop for easy access to Old San Juan.

good

This is a nice hotel and very friendly and helpful staff. The part of town the hotel is in, is not the best and I wouldn't wonder out after dark. There were a few homeless people on the streets. You can easily get on the bus at the bus stop across the street and ride it to Old San Juan, you do need excat change for the bus, we learned that the hard way from the bus driver! It was fifty cents to ride to Old San Juan. The hotel and room were very clean and very comfortable. The sun deck on the roof overlooks part of the city and the bay/ocean. Nice place to sit and relax.

Dining tip: In Hotel

There is a Bistro in the hotel, little spendy for the small dinner portion, but the breakfast prices were good! There is also a resturant across the street, which looked nice, but was closed as we were there on Good Friday.

Great location and great price!

I was in San Juan for business, looking for a relatively inexpensive hotel near local-fare restaurants. Hotel Miramar is in an historic section of San Juan, a 15 minute walk from restaurants on the Condado. The hotel restaurant is top-notch and convenient. Rooms are large and comfortable.

Nice Get Away

My husband and I were pleased with our stay. The location was nice because it was walking distance to go to restaurants, a grocery store, atm's, tourism sites, bus stops and downtown life. The only thing we weren't too pleased on was the maintenance service for room cleaning. The service is a little slow in getting the room clean by the time we got back to the room. The terrace let us see just how beautiful Puerto Rico is; it really was a nice view up there. The other thing was that our room view wasn't great since the abandoned building next to it needs alot of repairs. We would recommend Miramar for your stay at Puerto Rico.

Excellent small hotel

The Miramar was chosen because of its location between Old San Juan and the Condado strip. It turned out to be a bit of a walk to the Old SJ but the hotel staff soon provided info about the local bus services and it's just a 75c hop on a bus there and Condado is easily walkable. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and there are plenty of shops, banks, cafes etc nearby with more about to open. The restaurant attached to the hotel seem pushed to server people most of the time but if you're patient the food and coffee are good. The staff are friendly and helpful and managed to get us a hire car when none were supposed to be available over Christmas. they even park the car for you every night!

Honeymooners

The hotel isn't beach front and doesn't have a pool, but it makes up for that with an excellent staff, great rooms and a rooftop terrace that you can see all the city lights from. The bistro next store is really convenient and delicious, and if they are closed there are a few more excellent restaurants down the street as well as a grocery store.
