Da House is the urban-latino pronunciation of 'The House', with the emphasis on 'the', 'the one', 'the space where it is happening'. In this case, it is your vacation or visit to Old San Juan. You will find yourself proudly replying in Da House to inquiries as to where you stayed.
Located in the heart of Old San Juan, above legendary cafe teatro 'The Nuyorican Cafe'. We offer clean, comfortable, eclectic accomodations in a friendly, vibrant setting that is reminiscent of the character of hostals in great European cities like Amsterdam, Paris or Barcelona.

Superb for a weekend break

Friendly staff who gave tips on places to go to find live music when checking in just before midnight and who were happy to organise early morning airport transfers. Lovely, simply furnished room (great antique Chinese furniture) that was perfectly comfortable. There is noise from the bar next-door but you come here prepared for that.

bring your earplugs on the weekend!

the hotel, located in the middle of old san juan is a perfect locations for a young jet setter who wants to stay up all night and party until late hours. you almost have to as the bar on the first floor is LOUD and goes well past 4am! be prepared to walk stairs, as there wasn't an elevator. the rooms are very small but quaint and well equipped. one outlet in our room wasn't working so we had to overload the other available outlet. the bathroom didn't have a tub, just a very small corner shower, but it worked well and hot and cold water were perfect. no tv in the room, but that actually was a nice touch which added to the charm of the old san juan location. we stayed on the upper most floor and still couldn't hear our selves talk as the music coming from the first floor was outrageously loud. as well, it seemed as though you could hear each persons conversation and every girl's margarita endured shrill come over the din. overall, it's a nice place, but not quiet in the least.

look for a place the locals would eat. being that this is a tourist area, there are a lot of highly polished fancier restaurants. go off the path a little to experience what locals enjoy. ask a staff member, not where you should eat, but ask them where they eat lunch or dinner. you will enjoy it much more.

Great location but the pool was out of service

We booked the hotel on a whim while travelling in PR and were disappointed that the roof top pool was out of service. Other than that the value for money was great. If you are bringing a lot of luggage, note that there is no elevator at the hotel and bring your own toiletries as they only provide a bar of soap. There is no TV but free internet on the second floor. Also, you can hear salsa music till 4am so if it is not your thing make sure your room is on the upper floor. I would stay there again provided the pool is fixed.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

For an authentic Boricua breakfast go to the Majorca cafe and order a breakfast on Majorca bread (located just down calle San Francisco. For a good afternoon pub try El Patio de Sam on calle San SebastiƔn where there is happy hour 2 for 1 drinks in the afternoons.

Good location

The location is great; it is right in old San Juan and walking distance to the El Morro fort (which has an amazing view). It is also walking distance to restaurants and bar. The downside is that there is no elevator (if you have heavy luggage). Also there is no wifi unless you are in the lobby (2nd floor). There is also a salsa club downstair which is really loud if you try to sleep before 3am.

Great Location

The hotel is located right in the heart of Old San Juan. Within walking distance of everything in Old San Juan. Safe. The Hotel is basic. You get what you pay for as its inexpensive. The rooms are clean and very Puerto Rican. The hotel staff is friendly and gave us good tips on where to go out and drink at night. If you don't like noise I wouldnt stay here, as its above a salsa club that stays open very late. I traveled with my boyfriend and we loved it (but we are from a city so noise doesnt bother us). My one concern was the beds, very basic, noisy, not really comfortable. But hey you have to give on something, and its very affordable!

interesting and good value in Old San Juan

Despite some other reviews to the contrary, we found our room (on the third floor) not unbearably noisy due to the salsa/jazz club beneath at street level. Was a little thumping from the bass, but the airconditioning gave enough good "white noise" to drown most of it out. Would have loved to have partaken of the band, but unfortunately didn't start up until way after midnight. San Juan is after all a wee hours of the morning kind of place. But our room was wonderfully Sparten and CLEAN (the place used to be a convent) with local art work in all the rooms. hallways, and multi-story interconnecting air shafts. Great view from roof, but hot tub not working when we were there. Would be a nice place for a little bar. Nice helpful staff and close to everything (but what in OSJ isn't?) and great price! rather weak WIFI in room and a tiny little light bulb in bathroom, but otherwise, loved it.

old san juan or bust

No elevator and carrying bags up four flights of stairs was a bust. But it is located right in Old San Juan and has a great view from the roof top terrace.

Beautiful Anniversary/Birthday Getaway

We originally reserved The San Juan Beach Hotel and upon getting there we did not stay due to the rooms smelling bad of mold. We were able to reserve this hotel last minute and so happy we did. The hotel has beautiful art throughout roof and balcony access and in the middle of Old San Juan close to everything. The only reason i gave 4 stars is the rooftop jacuzzi was out of service and there is no mini refrigerator or tv in the room. Definitely not deal breakers and would definitely stay again it's a beautiful location.
