Courtyard by Marriott San Juan Isla Verde Beach Resort

We stayed 3 nights prior to cruise. The staff was very helpful with anything we needed. I wanted to be on the beach and this fit the bill for me. We could see the ocean but also a large roof below us. If that would bother you make sure to ask for a room that does not overlook the roof. But that is direction of the pool and beach that we used. The airport noise did not bother us at all. The staff was very helpful with information on going to the Rain forest, Barcardi rum factory and old San Juan. They did not pressure us to buy their tours and told us how to get around on the bus and ferry. The last day we checked out and went to Old San Juan and they informed us of a place to leave our luggage ($20), so we were able to enjoy the day.

Decent place for a three star. Staff friendly at times. Room not cleaned well. As everyone says the air plane noise is there, but you kind of get used to it. To far out from most everything. The cab fares will break you. Very nice beach, plenty of chairs and tables to accomidate everyone.

I went to San Juan for a three-night stay to visit a girlfriend and some friends, and to relax on the beach with a few rum runners. The Isla Verde Courtyard Marriot is a good value hotel for the area. It's not 5-star or swanky, but has a decent restaurant, good pool, great beach access, great fitness center, and great access to the local highway if traveling off hotel property. I'm not much of a gambler, but it seems to have an adequate casino with good staff. If you want the posh sips without spending mucho dinero for the hotel room, the Courtyard is a short distance by foot or cab to the chic El San Juan Hotel. For you salsa enthusiasts, the Courtyard "Salsa" bar has great live music in the evenings (salsa, rumba, bachata, cha cha )-- however, you will not find many competent single salseras dancing here. Bring your own dance partner if you have the skills to pay the bills. The bartenders and service staff were attentive and friendly. The fitness center, including dumbbells, is nice for a hotel. The Courtyard is at the east end of Isla Verde, very close to the airport, but the jet noise didn't bother me too much. If you are looking for super quiet, then Isla Verde should not be your beach escape destination in San Juan. The rooms are quiet. I have stayed at this hotel a few times now, and it's an overall good value for Isla Verde.

The staff was great. Hotel room was clean, comfortable and offered a great view of the beach and ocean. Access to the beach is fantastic. The palm trees, hammocks and chairs were always available and made the beach even better. Lots of beach to walk and enjoy. Food at the restaurants was very good. You must be able to become tolerant of the noise from the airport.

We loved San Juan, the staff at the Marriott Cortyard were sincerely friendly and helpful. The nite life on Friday, Saturday and Sunday was full of Salsa dancing great music alot of locals who can dance and very nice. Gambling was small but fun and enjoyable again alot of locals who seemed to be friendly with dealers with no true supervision example: reserving seats at black jack table and machines. The food at the Picante, Bannan Bar and pool side was reasonable and good the Sirena was over priced - horrible food and service dont waste your money, get a drink and burger and sit outside by the ocean. The noise of the planes sometimes were too much. We would stay there again next time in an ocean front room (I had no problem sleeping, my husband was awoken a few times from the planes).

Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for families. The staff was friendly, helpful, very proficient in English and very accommodating for families with small children. They have a great kid and baby pool with ample shade, and a playground. Snacks, drinks at hotel a little pricey; however, Walgreens is an easy, close walk (~1/2 mile) great for getting snacks as well as baby/kid items. Airport is very close, which makes it convenient but VERY noisy at times - but my husband loves planes so we actually viewed this as a positive! If you are interested in excursions, I would recommend renting a car, especially if you have a baby/small children so you can both save money and make your own schedule. My husband took a taxi to the airport and rented a car there, and it worked out very well. My only complaint would be the mattress was overly soft (to the point of sagging).

It's not exactly the most culturally interesting place -- all the rooms are standard "Courtyard" (albeit with ocean views) -- but if you're looking for a great stretch of beach for a few days, this is probably the best place for your money in San Juan. We got an [...] deal for less than $200 a night. We were with our 17-month-old daughter and staff could not have been any friendlier or more helpful. Between the 2 kiddie pools and a playground, it's a great place for families. For a Courtyard, the facilities are really fantastic. Several good restaurants, a big pool with a swim up bar, and a really fantastic beach with free hammocks and chairs. The only downside here is the proximity to the airport: the runway is literally just a couple hundred feet from the hotel, and you will hear some planes. It didn't really bother us much, though -- most are not that loud and we weren't really disturbed in our room or on the beach. Will definitely return.

we arrived early from our cruise. A room was immediately assigned. The pool-beach combination was very nice. We had a lovely lunch.My iPOD needed re-charging; staff at the desk allowed me to use their desk computer to do the charging without any hassle.We had dinner at Sirena; the meal was truly spectacular; the service efficient but not rushed or obtrusive.My wife and I had completely separate itineraries but they accomodated us both.The entire experience was positive and enjoyable. Hotel, location and staff were great! The beach is beautiful. The staff are wonderful. One problem - [...] price did not include the $50 extra person/day charge for children over 12. The extra $250 charge was not expected. Reservations were made by phone and we were not told.
