The Conrad San Juan is a beautifully decorated hotel with trendy atmosphere and wonderful amenities. We stayed in a ocean ... view room which had contemporary design and breathtaking views from the balcony. I had a massage at the pool area in front of the ocean, which was nice, but I wished there were a full service spa. The hotel is centrally located where you can walk down urban Ashford Avenue to restaurants and shops while only a short taxi drive to historic Old San Juan. The hotel also offers a variety of excursions at reasonable prices. The employees, who were bilingual, were friendly and helpful. Even though we had an enjoyable stay, we did have a problem with Housekeeping. After cleaning our room, the housekeeper did not replace our bath towels and regular coffee - on 2 different days. The first day, I called Housekeeping five times in 2 hours. My husband had to go to Starbucks to get himself some coffee and then to the pool to get us some towels. After I took a shower, I went to the Front Desk to talk to a manager. For my inconvenience, the manager credited me a $26 charge that I had from the pool area. Shortly afterward, a bell man brought us 3 towels and 2 packs of coffee. The second time the housekeeper did not replace our towels, I called Housekeeping and then waited an hour and 15 minutes before I called again. Within 15 minutes, a worker brought us more towels. As irritating as that was, the Conrad hotel compensated me well when I checked out by crediting me the resort fees as well as a room service charge. Despite my problem with Housekeeping, I highly recommend the Conrad San Juan. Overall, the hotel gives good customer service by trying to keep their customers happy.

There are several awesome restaurants within a 5-10 minute walk of the hotel. Check out Ropa Vieja for good seafood and local food. Try the stuffed plaintains...i think they are called monfangos? Also, check out a great bar/restaurant called Waiters...it will surprise you. My fiance swears by their baby back ribs...says they are the best he's ever had!

We stayed at the Conrad for two nights after returning from a cruise. We loved it! The lobby area is gorgeous..very ... modern. Rooms are very spacious and the four pools are wonderful. We got a great deal for this hotel and can't wait to go back! (We also stayed at the Caribe Hilton one day prior to our cruise and it is a great hotel as well-beautiful, nice pools and rooms. The Conrad has much more around it though.)

All in all, trip was not all I expected.Alot of contruction going on.Alot of buildings needing renovation, alot more traffic ... than I thought.Staff at Conrad was Great,But just wiping down walls with clorox does not cure the problem with Mold it is only a surface fix.Need to Fix Water Problem Behind Walls and then Paint with A semi Gloss Paint to Help Keep it at Bay.I did like the fact that the Conrad had a view of the ocean, the lagoon and the beach.

Received excellent service while there. Check-in was quick. Choice of 1 king or 2 queen beds. Room was as shown in ... pictures. Room was spotless. Great city/ocan view. Good inexpensive restaurants down the street. Enterprise Rent a Car and Starbucks located just downstairs from main lobby. Hotel is located in Condado area of San Juan which is section 3. The location was good for us but may not be ideal for everyone. Just for reference, the airport is located at section 1 and old San Juan is section 5. Cab fares are fixed and depend on which section you are travelling from and to. Overall, the hotel was good value for money. Would stay again.

A tropical delight
DJ MQ Sep 14, 2009
The corner city view room had an unexpectedly amazing view. Shower pressure was the best I have ever experienced at a ... hotel--a real refreshing lift. Staff was friendly at every turn, and the hotel was a great value. The mod lobby is chic and energetic, and the seaside hammock provided a welcome retreat. The one hiccup: my room was next to a stairwell doorframe which required, inexplicably, three hours of loud paint scraping that started at 7:30 am--not a wake-up I welcomed after a late night out on the town.

Condado Plaza Hotel Puerto Rico
Ms Wolf Sep 14, 2009
The hotel was in a nice location. There were many restaurants and stores within walking distance. It felt very safe a night ... when we were out walking. The room was very clean, large and beautifully decorated. The view of the Atlantic ocean was awesome. Also, the room seemed very quiet. We did not hear much noise from the other rooms. The hotel staff was very friendly. And the restaurants in the hotel had good food on those couple of occasions that we choose to eat there. We had lunch one day in the poolside restaurant. It is a fun treat to eat while sitting in a swimming pool. And finally, I thought the grounds were well cared for and beautiful. The Atlantic Ocean was along one side of the hotel while the lagoon was on the other side. There were also at least 2 swimming pools and a hot tub. The one drawback to the location was that the hotel next door was vacant and had graffitti on it and boarded up windows, etc. Other than that, we certainly enjoyed our stay here!

The prices in Puerto Rico for dining, shopping, attractions and so forth were equivalent to what you pay in the US. One tip - a tour to the Rain forest costs about $50 per person. However, we drove ourselves there and paid $3 to see the Visitors Center and the park is free.

i really enjoyed my stay. The service was excellent, the people were kind and treated me like family. The Hotel is located in ... New San Jaun which is a 10 minute bus ride ( 75 cents) from Old San Jaun but that was OK because I was out of the crowds when I wanted to relax. The Pool is awesome, the rooms are clean, the Ocean and Laguna views are great.

There is a Sizzlers restaurant about 5 minutes away on the number 53 or 21 Bus. There is a Chilli's and Subway about 2 minutes away by foot. There is a Starbucks right next to the Hotel and a couple of restaurants in the hotel. Be careful in the Casinos, the machines are tight and unforgiving.

We loved this hotel for its great location (only a 7 minute ride from old San Juan), nice pool areas, convenient access to a ... great little natural sand ocean beach (where you can use the hotel's beach chairs), very responsive and friendly staff and the cleanliness of the rooms. On the first night we only got a two bed ocean view room, but already on the second day they provided us with a corner room with one king sized bed and spectacular views of both San Juan and the ocean (you could actually see the ocean from the bed!). San Juan is only a 7 minute car ride from the hotel.

La Placita de Santurce: this is a place where the locals go to unwind after work, particularly on Fridays after 5pm. Listen and dance to some live salsa, eat some locally flavored grilled meat, or just enjoy in people watching. Only a good 1 mile/about 2 kilometers from the hotel.

I would strongly recommend if renting a car to do it at the car rental in the hotel instead of the airport. Which can be time consuming in picking up and dropping off. Much more convenient to pick or drop right at the hotel and take short cab drive to airport 5/10 minutes away.

Just a couple of blocks away from the Conrad is the fantastic Ajili Mohili (AM) restaurant. Their food is superb and the price, although on the upscale side, is compatible to Varitas, the Conrad's new Puertorican restaurant. My wife and I agreed AM is a much better choice and their service is second to none. Varitas' management could learn a few fundamentals about the fine art of customer service and culinary arts from its competitor, AM.

The restaurants in the hotel were very nice but expensive but it is expected being that it is in a resort area. There are areas outside the hotel you can eat at if your not looking to spend $16 on a burger or $9 on a hotdog. But do suggest to eat at Yarita's inside the hotel it was excellent food and the service was outstanding.
