Budget San Juan hotel with tropical charm near Condado Beach
This centrally located bed and breakfast is just a few blocks from popular Condado Beach and around the corner from fashionable Ashford Avenue. The Casa Del Caribe has a distinctly tropical feel thanks to its garden wall, chirping birds, bubbling fountain and abundant foliage. The hotel's wrap-around porch and shady patio with bar are ideal for relaxing, reading or enjoying the complimentary continental breakfast served daily. Casa del Caribe is located in the Heart of Condado and if you are going to be doing some Gambling the biggest Casino in the area is in just 1/2 block away as is the Central Park of Condado. On a budget

If you are trying to save money on your trip this is the hotel for you. Nothing fancy about this place but it is close to the strip. And coveniently located right in front of a marriott.

A Real Find

What a find, I read the mixed reviews and decided to go for it, I'm glad I did. The place is friendly, the Dutch manager is welcoming and easy going. I got the room with a kitchenette it was perfect. As a solo female I was a bit worried about a previous review from a woman saying it was unsafe, the hotel is about 100 ft from Ashford Ave and the Marriott Hotel and directly across the street from Mona's restaurant, very busy and safe, The covered patio is great to hang out in the evenings and for meeting other guests at breakfast. The grounds are well kept and housekeeping is good. This is real Island living, an older place that has character, If you want all the mod cons check into the Marriott and pay through the nose for sterility.

Great Spring Break

This was the perfect place to stay in San Juan! It was close to everything and the rooms are well kept. Casa del Caribe was walking distance to the beach ( 1 block away) as well as food and night life activities. The staff was very friendly and helpful and would go out of their way to make us feel at home. I would recommend this place to anyone, and next time I go to Puerto Rico I would definitely stay here!

Mona's (across the street from the bed and breakfast) has delicious food and margaritas for a great price!

Cheap but not a great deal

The room wasn't very clean, and we didn't have hot water for two days. When we called about the water, we were told that even the best hotels have problems delivering hot water, which made no sense. (Our friends who were staying at the better hotels said they had hot water.) We are accustomed to and seek out inexpensive lodgings with few or no amenities, so our disappointment is not due to our having expected luxury. We spend almost no time in the hotel, so we are interested more in access to public transportation and the places we came to explore. Usually these hotels are quaint and a fantastic deal for the money. This one was neither.

There is a nice Indian/Thai/sushi restaurant directly across the street from the hotel. Good vegetarian options. All food is expensive in Condado, and this place is no exception. The buses are terrific, if you have a system map and ask where the bus is going before getting on.

Add the strict minimum as expected.

I needed a place downtown to sleep two night and take a shower. I also wanted access to the internet and a breakfast included. I got it al at this hotel. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I wish they had a swimming pool, but they are close enough to the beach.

Nightlife tip: Short walk from hotel

Walk on Ashford street to have a good dinner in any of the numerous restaurants. Then walk to Plaza del Mercado to enjoy the night life on Friday night.
