Ok for the price

I was transferred around the corner to the Canario. It's 5 days after the trip at this point and my back is still hurting because of the terrible bed. Otherwise, it was clean, simple, no frills, and perfectly located. NO FREE PARKING.

NO hot water, a dirty bathroom & NOT a B&B!

The Casa Caribe may have been good a long time ago but its tired and lacking in MANY ways! It was dirty and run down..........From their website I expected something delightfully tropical & Puerto Rican and wanted to experience something local. In two nights and 5 possible showers I had NO HOT WATER. The lady said that when it rained the hot water didn't work.....Really? The 2nd day it was a hot sunny day and there still wasn't any hot water that night. Sunday morning also no hot water, she said there were water problems in Coldado. I spoke to other local businesses and no one had any water issues! The TV didn't work for the first day either AND there were short shaving hairs in my basin and also 2 long black hairs, the floor in the bathroom had the same hairs in the corners. Ugh!!!! A dirty basin.......revolting! The room felt like a prison cell as the window didn't open nor did the louvers. She said that the windows did not open in that room..........as if that was normal!! I just wanted some fresh air and light.........surely not asking too much!! So on a sunny morning I was in the dark with the lights on. The manager had also lost the main safe key and although they advertise safes in all the rooms, only some have some. Mine didn't. There was a bra from a prior guest in the top drawer, showing that the housemaids don't clean or check them. They also advertise new slimline quiet A/C units but mine was one of those old box types. Whats worse is that its also "advertised and named" as a "B&B" but the breakfast was paper cups for their coffee and white sliced bread. (some pastries and cereal) NO fruit, NO eggs, NO typical B&B type of breakfast........I have had fabulous breakfasts given for free by hotels that don't even advertise a breakfast......this was shocking!! I asked for some fruit for my second morning but they would do NOTHING!! BUT the bed was comfy clean and good. .............I wouldn't stay there again nor ever recommend it.............esp considering I paid $107.50 night plus taxes and could have stayed at a well known resort hotel for only a bit more...........very VERY disappointing. The manager was at the desk when I arrived back to pick up my luggage but disappeared when he saw me at the gate to enter; no apology or offer for a part refund.........Esp as there was NO hot water for my whole visit...........totally unacceptable in this day and age!!!

Great small comfy stay

This hotel fits right into my budget as a college student.Needed a small weekend getaway. It has 13 rooms... I was in #5. Came with complimentary breakfast. This bed and breakfast is close to lots of restaurants, few steps from the Marriotts and other hotels close by. And also there are Walgreens and a hospital at a mere walking distance.... From the airport was 19$. Front desk receptionist is available 8-5 daily for after hrs service have to go to the sister hotel. Especially if checking in late. The cleaning service is offered daily. Rooms are kept clean and everyone is friendly. ... There is this man made pond with one fish in it that I would visit twice daily... Because it looked so lonely and sad :-( . Other than that it great, small comfy.

Great little hotel

I really like it. It's small but with so much character. The staff are so friendly i was impress. I did a huge mistake wen booking the dates but they were so nice they did not charge me for the mistake i did wen booking. The room was super clean. It's just 5 minutes away from condado beach and 15 minute drive from old san juan. If you have a car you can park in the Marriott for a fraction of the price.

Good but Budget Hotel in Condado

I would recommend this B&B for people who are on budget spending a long weekend in Puerto Rico. The B&B has a superb location, located 2 blocks from the beach, has a small yard where folks have breakfast. It is not a luxury accommodation- there is no pool, rooms are small but clean. Shower water volume is variable, so room for improvement. Taxi to old san juan is $16. For the price we paid, it was worth it.

Perfect winter getaway

First time in Puerto Rico. My husband and I booked this hotel for the location, value, and because we prefer smaller hotels to large resorts. Couldn't have been happier! The room was comfortable and clean, staff very kind and helpful, and the location is 2 blocks from the beach and anything else you could want to do. Ed was so helpful with tips on restaurants and what to do and made us feel very welcome. Tips- if you get a car, closest parking is in the mariott at 18/day. You will not be able to find street parking.

Travel on a Budget

This hotel is in a great location, right across the street from many $300-per-night hotels. Staff is generally nice but very hard to find if you need help. Do not book based on free adventure tour deals. After 5 days of trying to work it out with the front desk, we gave up and called to complain. We never went on a free tour- sold out or undersold so unavailable. Hotel room was fairly comfortable. Little bugs were in our room by the window, but we were happy with the value overall.

“Laid back in the tropics”

I can not say enough good things about this motel. My boyfriend and I arrived at this beautiful place in the early afternoon and were warmly Greeted by Ed Vandenberg, he told us about breakfast, The parking situation, ingress and egress, about how to get to the close by beach, and of the many restaurants all within very close walking distance. Starbucks is just across the street as a delightful Turkish restaurant. Later that night we discovered Fuzion Kitchen, and Bar by accident only a few blocks away, we lucked out as tuesday is "half of everything" night. We easily got back thru the keyed gate past the little pond, around the potted plants and flowers, just at the same time this lovely night bird was signing, only to later find out that this is not a bird at all but actually a little frog the Coqui, that sings just like a medium sized bird! and you hear it at night all over the island. The ocean just 1 1/2 blocks away is the huge sandy Condado beach, surfers, great restaurants, easy street parking, actually we found the beach and motel even more beautiful and spectacular than the photos. As one reviewer said "this is more guest house" than motel. All the staff was friendly and helpful, and Belle, Ed's cute l'il dog always friendly and wanting to be pat. Our room was clean and comfy. TV, fan and AC. We had an upper room in the back section very nice and quite, free WIFI in the comfortable patio/reception area. The only drawback that could be said is the parking situation, none at Casa del Carib, and $18/nite at the nearby Marriott Hotel. (normally $35).We solved the problem of expense by simply parking on the street in the neighborhood, at most we had to park 4 blocks away usually much closer. It is free , safe, and unlimited, no meter maids cruising to give you a ticket or parking permits required nor any time limitations. It really was not a problem all and we always found a spot during all times of the day. We would highly recommend this convient, beautiful and romantic place to stay in Candado the gay section, and will return for sure. Stayed December 2012, traveled as a couple
