Area description
There is no place quite like a tropical volcanic island, and no island in the Caribbean quite like Puerto Rico. The geography of the island is very unusual, as it encompasses distinctly different kinds of topography and microclimates in a relatively small area. A rugged mountain range runs across the center from east to west, which often prevents rain clouds from passing to the south. The north side of the island is covered by dense vegetation, limestone formations, and rushing streams, while, the south side is sun-toasted terrain, home to tropical dry forests and many species of exotic birds. Puerto Rico is only about 100 miles long and 35 miles wide, so its most distant points are only a three-hour drive apart. It also means that just about every tropical landscape in existence is a short trip from wherever you happen to be.

Nice setting but expensive food

Hotel was nice, had neat animals, peacocks, koi, etc but food was super expensive as was Internet service, movies and such. You need to be prepared to spend way too much for the basics. Location is nice, right on the beach, but it is a $12 cab ride to old San Juan. It is a very very long walk otherwise!!!

beautiful property...rooms not all that

The hotel property is gorgeous! There are 9 restaurants and I believe 3 pools and it is on what I would call a semi-private beach. There is a water trampoline and an inflatable iceberg water slide that seemed to be a big hit with the kids. The concierge (ALL of them) were extremely helpful and informative. Make sure to ask them for maps to all of your destinations. We rented a car from PAYLESS Car Rental which is less than a block from the hotel and it was way cheaper than what we were quoted inside the hotel at HERTZ. Overall this hotel was very nice....the drinks and food inside the hotel are REALLY pricey, im talking $25.00 for 2 mojitos.

Rent a car from Payless Car Rental not from the Hertz inside the hotel and you will save about $10.00 a day.

Great Stay for the Price

Thia was my First experience at the Caribe Hilton and I am very glad I chose this hotel. Our stay was enjoyable, the staff was very helpful and courteous. The pool and beach had good maintenance . Making it very pleasant, relaxing and enjoyable area. Making our trip very relaxing and lots of fun. I recommend ths hotel to anyone who likes quality and the goodlife. We really enjoyed our stay at the Caribe Hilton and have recommended it to my family and friends here in the states.we are looking forward to visitng again. The only negetive is that I think it lacked nightlife entertainment (ie dancing & Casino).

My home in paradise

From the moment we got into the hotel lobby, there were available several cold water flavor drinks which was perfect for the humidity felt from a short walk from the parking lot to the lobby. We rented a car and the parking lot was conveniently located; My friend and I took advantage of the daily parking rates value(in/out services). It was simply an awesome arrangement. The hotel staff cordially welcomed us with a warm smile and quickly provided with our keys to our room; She clearly explained (English/Spanish is spoken) to us of all the amenities we could take advantage of and provided us with discount coupons. A starbuck is located in the lobby, great restaurants, a little pricey but excellent quality of food. We tried various fast food places (subway, McDonald, Chilies, KFC, Sizzler) near the hotel and they were just like in the states. :-) Anyways, you won't be disappointed if you bring children, or stay here for business or pleasure, (I think this is perfect place for a honey moon) this hotel has it all! I can't wait to go back and enjoy my stay at this Caribe Hilton or try the other locations in the Caribbean.

Puerto Rico Vacation

Everything was perfect, relaxing, true carribean vacation. The only slight problem was actually getting the desirable room in the hotel. If you want something with a nice view overlooking the ocean instead of facing other buildings, parking lot, or the roof, you have to pay extra upsale costs. I wish there was some warning or a clear choice with clear explanations offered while booking.

Talk to the concierge for Old San Juan dining suggestions. All the places he recommended were exceptional. The food was fresh and delicious. Be prepared to spend some money though, unless you're ok with eating fast food every day.

WONDERFUL!!

The Hotel lobby was amazing. No doors, just open to the world. The staff was great. We had already requested an ocean view, but they moved us to a room with a better view. The pool had multiple depths, great for lounging or swimming. The hammocks were good for snoozing. The swim up bar was a little expensive for drinks. But that could be overlooked. Very clean and friendly. Want to go back soon.

We had rented a car but after insurance, parking fees and gas, it was cheaper to take a cab. The Old San Juan area is not very far and you can walk everywhere, no need for a car. Would skip the rental and take a cab. Besides the local drivers can tell you a little bit about the area.
